My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Sea Bird Cottages. We had a beautiful room, private bath, and a separate sitting and breakfast room. It was very homey and comfortable. Plus, it was in a great location in Victoria, near beach, Beacon Hill Park, Ross Bay Cemetery, and Cook St. neighborhood with restaurants and shopping. Finally, Gail was a very accommodating host and interesting person.

Shower set up is dated.

Location was perfect for me as I planned on a walkable getaway. Felt very safe in the house and neighborhood. I appreciated the little extras for breakfast 😋

I booked this room about an hour before arriving in the evening. When I showed up, no one was there so I texted the contact numbers I found on the front door. The owner was super nice and accommodating. She has another BnB property near Sooke and that is where she was when I arrived at this place. She walked me through checking in and finding my room. It was easy and smooth and I felt quite comfortable with the whole process. She asked if I wanted her to make me breakfast in the morning and that it was $15 extra. I had food I needed to finish, so I declined breakfast. There is a room with coffee and tea makings as well as granola. There was a nicely set small table with utensils also. I had everything I needed. The neighborhood is nice and the house is a block from the beach and a nice boardwalk that you can take all the way downtown. The direct walk downtown is through a nice, average, safe, neighborhood and also a park that puts you near the Empress Hotel (where they actually use Empress Gin for their cocktails which is a treat) and the walk takes about 20-25 min at a steady pace. I would definitely stay here again.

The photo on the booking website shows a modern house which is the property next door. An accurate photo would have made it easier to locate, but the houses are numbered so it wasn't hard to find. This is an old Victorian house that has a lot of character.

The cottage was clean, quiet, comfortable and pretty. Gail was very kind and attentive. I love the location and would definitely stay there again! She brought us a lovely little breakfast and even sent us on our way with cookies! Behind her house is a beautiful rocky hill with an amazing view. A romantic place! Just FYI: Perhaps this is clear in the listing, but I didn't realize that Gail shares the upper floor with the rental space. So the upper floor consists of a bedroom with a queen size bed and bathroom and a secondary bedroom that also holds a small kitchenette and table. These were included in our rental. And then down the hall, on the same floor is also the host's bedroom. She uses a separate bathroom downstairs.

Location was good.

Host was late- check in was 4pm-7pm- host called to say she was running late and would be there at 4:30pm- this was appreciated. I had to text Gail at 5:30pn to see if she had arrived. She was there but got distracted talking to her neighbour rather than communicating with us that she had arrived. Rooms were not secure- no lock on rooms. Belongings left in room were accessible to host as well as any other customer. Reserved a triple room- expected two beds in same room, it was two separate rooms, neither could be locked. Bathroom was shared between 3 rooms- we were told that we were the only occupants the first night. We expected a private bathroom, and not one that would have been shared with strangers. Breakfast was offered at an extra charge of $15.00/person Bed was not comfortable. The fridge in the other room kept making noises- unable to sleep.

Location- excellent. Near Dallas Road re biking, walking swimming and people watching. Very interesting cemetery opposite location.

The owner is kind and so helpful. The breakfast was more than I expected and so tasty! The bed was lovely, it felt like home, which for me as I have been travelling for 3 months was such a nice feeling.

a bit noisy with the neighbours doing some building work, but it didn't bother me too much as I'm a heavy sleeper

The wonderful old house almost on the ocean beach. Quiet place, very clean and comfortable. An amazing hostess Gail, who can tell you a lot about the history of the house and the city. We really enjoyed the breakfasts and all the time spent there.

Gail constantly went out of her way in making me feel welcome, comfortable, well looked after. She was generous, kind, funny, and sociable, yet gave me privacy, too. Great house, setting, and elegant decor.

Because of the construction I got turned around trying to park a couple times. But I get turned around easily, and the construction's temporary!

Gail, the owner was very friendly and I forgot something in my room. She was kind to mail it to me right away!

I loved the location which was close to Dallas Road (ocean) and to Cook Street Village for browsing. It’s an easy walk to downtown or to Oak Bay. The bus links easily with the bus to the ferry if you are a foot passenger. The room was clean and pretty with coffee maker, kettle, fridge and microwave. Gail, the owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit again.

I liked everything about the property.

The location is absolutley wonderful! It is 2 blocks to the ocean and the main scenic road along side the beaches. It's a quiet location with the Cemetry across the street. The host, Gaye, was very friendly, helpful and left more than a few yummy treats for me. The complimentary breakfast was more than I would normally have at home. Beacon Hill Park is an easy and pleasant walk through a lovely neighborhood with colorful gardens and Victorian homes. Downtown is also manageable by walking.

The only improvement I might suggest is a different shower curtain. The shower is part of the period free standing claw bathtub and the curtain runs inside the tub. It is a light-weight and tended to cling to my body when I was showering. I am not sure how the price compares, but it did feel like a bit much once the cleaning fees and taxes were included.

I had an amazing time in this lovely cottage! The house is charming and comfy. The neighbourhood is quiet, close to the beach and with an amazing view if you climb up to the hill in the backyard! It's also really close to the centre of Victoria (10 minutes in bus).

Nothing, it was a really nice moment, i wish i could have stay longer!
