It was a nice get away from the busy city.
Really enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the area.

We booked the property. Twenty four hours later, the reservation was cancelled because the owner didn't respond in time. We should have taken it as a red flag. We rebooked.
Finally got instructions an hour before arrival.
When we arrived, we thought we were at the wrong place. It looked abandoned and neglected. Sadly, we were at the right place.
This is a list of what we found:
The exterior of the house was dirty. It hadn't been swept or cleaned in a while. It looked like no one had been there in weeks!
The entrance (kitchen) windows were full of dead bugs caught in cobwebs;
No key was waiting for us. We finally managed to gain entry through an unlocked bedroom door;
As soon as we entered, we could smell the mustiness and cigarette smoke. The smell was in all of the bedding, cushions and couches;
I sat down on one of the living room chairs and could see the dirt on top of the stove hood;
My friend sat down on an old stool at the counter, and it broke and she ended on the floor;
We decided to put our dry goods in the pantry. The door broke when we opened it;
Neither bathroom worked properly. It took an average of five flushes to get the one in the first bedroom to flush. And, to top it off, it ran all night and kept us up;
When I went in to take a shower in the second bathroom, the sliding shower door came off in my hands. When I managed to put it back, the second door came off;
It was a very hot couple of nights and I couldn't use the unbalanced fan over my bed because of the noise;
The windows in all of the house hadn't been cleaned in months, and a few of the blinds were broken;
Oh, and did I mention the stained bedspread in my room.
The thing that really chapped my hide:
I called the property caretaker to ask for a key. When I got no answer, I called the owner directly. I told her we were going to be late for a dinner reservation because we we didn't have a key and couldn't lock up and leave.
She asked us to take our valuables with us so that we didn't have to worry. I couldn't believe it!
Her caretaker finally showed up after a while and wanted to know how we managed to get in.
By then, we were too flustered and went for a drive.
We rent cabins about every two months, and have been doing so for the last five years. This is, by far, the worst experience we have had. The description is a lie. This cabin is not worth the cost per night.

We winged it
Everything was great except all the ants. Oh well maybe they were on a vacation too. Having ti get your own water was annoying. I loved the fact there were no mosquitoes and how the nights totally cooled down.
I'd definitely stay here again.

Price was good. Google maps won't find it for you. Need to contact owner for specific directions. Wasn't as clean as we'd hoped. It was a hot Julian weekend and the AC unit in the kitchen area could not keep up with the heat. So not great place for the summer. I'm going to

Wildwood cabin
This is a very clean, cute and comfortable 2 bedroom 2 bath cabin in a beautiful rural woodsy setting. Parks, hiking and Julian nearby. They recommend bringing your own drinking water, which we didn't find out until a couple of days before our trip, but we had been camping so we had water. Loved our stay!

Quiet Getaway
This is an older home, which I find charming. This was our second stay and had a wonderful time. It is in a quiet neighborhood and we enjoyed seeing goats, horses and a mule at other homes on our walk down the street. The home was very clean and the only "problem" we had was Mother Nature sending ants inside the smaller bedroom, perhaps to escape the heat. We were able to get rid of them easily and they did not return. I cooked many meals in the kitchen and found it well equipped. There was no cookie sheet, but a nice Pyrex baking dish which worked just as well! We enjoyed movies each night using Amazon, you can also sign into your account for other streaming apps on the TV if you have them. The beds were very comfortable. There is an air conditioner in the main part of the home, but not in the bedrooms. We opened the windows each evening to let in the cool air and turned on the ceiling fan which worked perfectly in the Master bedroom. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Julian. It takes about 7 minutes to drive to the town to get some pie :). We also had afternoon tea at the Tea Cottage - highly recommend!

The house was old and some of the light switches were difficult to find. (Dining room especially). The bedroom television did not work. There was lots of places to put our things away and feel at home. Overall, we had a great weekend.

Quiet, comfortable retreat
The home is located in a quiet neighborhood, a short drive to Julian & Wynola. On our walk we saw deer and enjoyed the scenery. The house was very comfortable and very well equipped with extra blankets and towels. The second bathroom was chilly so we used the main one unless an "emergency" arose. I cooked many meals in the kitchen, plenty of plates, bowls, etc as well as new Teal fry pans. We had a wonderful time relaxing and watching movies. Would definitely want to return!

Nice place and was close to Julian. It was a very crowded weekend in Julian but the property is a few miles away and uncrowded and quiet. Inside and furniture was dated but nice and clean. It worked perfectly for my trip.

Julian stay
I was in town for a wedding and this location was near the venue. It was nice having a place that is close to town too. The drive to town is less than 10 minutes. The only thing I would complain about is that it did smell a little like cigarette smoke.

The house was very clean and spacious. We saw deer, squirrels, and wild turkeys many times each day. It is close to William Heise park, where we were able to ride electric bikes. Close to Julian to go for a meal or pie, but also far enough away to enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of being away from town.

Peaceful cottage
We enjoyed our say in Julian. House was peaceful and private. I would surely stay here again. I would give it 5 stars if a few things were upgraded. Needs new carpet badly in living room and windows are in need of cleaning and repair. It was quite hot during our stay.Air conditioning was nice in living room. Second bedroom could use a small air conditioner. All in all a good stay in a lovely area.

Everything was great, bathroom facets were a little old but nothing that can’t be dealt with in. The room itself has a heater and if you’re going to start the fireplace it’s gonna get warm, so if you’re worried about it being cold in the winder don’t even worry about that!

This has to be one of the best stays I’ve ever had! Great location, calm neighborhood, and the interior of the housing was perfect. I’d highly recommend this place and I wouldn’t be surprised if I catch myself booking this place again. I’d give 6 stars if possible.

This cabin is cute, cozy and suited our needs for a quite local getaway. The backyard is in need of some love but not a big deal. Would be great to have outdoor seating back there. Living/family room is spacious and provides plenty of room for a family of 4. Great value for the rental rates.

The place was nice, a bit tricky to find because it is dark AND the darkness is wonderful to get to experience nature. The place was really cold however when we used the fireplace it heated up quickly, the property manager stated that this will get tended to, so check to make sure the heater is working so you know to bring extra layers. THe back yard is really nice and fenced in, we got to see wild turkey and deer every morning. Walking around was really pretty with fields, and abandoned areas. It was quiet, we did not run into anyone, a little too quiet for me but if you like being in nature and inside this is a great spot. One of the rooms has a nook that someone who is 5 ft 5' or small could lay and be surrounded by windows, it was beautiful to lay and watch the rain. There were pots and pans and some dishes, no bowls, so check ahead what you may need and ask if they have it so you don't get caught out there without it. there were restaurants and stores very close, we did not go to any because of our own safety level with COVID. The person operating the property answered the phone every single time we called and was kind, courtesy, patient, understanding, helpful, and so much more. It was a very easy and convenient while being a contactless check in and experience.
