Beautiful and interesting place. Would stay again.
Location was fantastic. Everything was walkable. Host was helpful in arranging a tour. Beautiful property and private. Secured be locked gate..
Breakfast was not great, but regular cook ws not there that day. Pool was small and not really in a space for lounging and sunbathing. Hard to get ahold of staff when we arrived.

I can highly recommend this hotel. It was so unusual and the rooms were clean and so different.
The architecture was just fab. So unusual and our room was great. We loved it.
No hair dryer.

Unique Stay in Puerto Morelos
Very special place to stay in Puerto Morelos. Beautiful and unique architecture, nice and comfortable rooms. Lovely outdoor area.
The mosquitos outside, but that's not a problem the hotel could solve ;)

Quirky and interesting but...
La Quinta Orquídea must have been fantastic when it first opened. It's a truly original design - like some kind of crazed adobe fairytale tepee held together by wood plaster and old wine bottles. There's not a straight line in the entire building. If Tim Burton designed a hotel this would be it. I stayed 3 nights in a roof top turret with private bathroom and balcony. Bed was comfortable no ac but room fan. Breakfast in the courtyard was different tasty Mexican fare every day and - served by friendly chap in rather fetching hygiene hairnet! Its location is just off the main plaza in the centre of town. The beach is five minutes away and there are many bars and restaurants on the streets running parallel. There is also a large (pricey) supermarket nearby on the opposite side of the plaza. Collectivos (shared vans) for La Colonia and the highway (for Cancun or PDC) stop on the corner. There is also a convenience store on the same spot.
Sadly La Quinta Orquídea seems to be suffering from long time neglect - parts of it appear unused and coated in dust- I noted a 'for sale' notice outside so that probably explains a lot. However the major problem at the moment is the huge construction site opposite. Of course I realise this is not the fault of the owner but it was very very loud all day and on one night until midnight. A stream of trucks unloading concrete and constant loud drilling does not make for a relaxing stay. I wouldn't advise staying here until this is completed and it could be months judging by its size. The other issue is although I booked in advance they only sent me the entry access codes on the day I traveled. As I was on a 10 hour transatlantic flight without wifi for most of the day I didn't receive them so when I arrived at 6pm there was no one there to let me in or help in any way. Luckily a local expat was waiting for a taxi nearby and came to help. She used her own phone to contact the owner who gave her the Wi-Fi passcode so I could get my messages and download the entry information. She really saved the situation as I can completely locked out. This could easily have been avoided if they'd sent me the access information the day I booked. This remote management might be advantageous to the owners but I'd much prefer a personal welcome (sorry I'm old) Given the above points I really wouldn't stay again which is sad because it really could be wonderful place.

Unique, unique, unique!!!
This is by far the most unique place we’ve ever stayed. There isn’t a single 90 degree angle on the property and the photos don’t do it justice. Free parking nearby and an easy walk to the beach and downtown. (Bring your own shampoo & conditioner)
Not a thing!
