Little Cottage in the Woods
About this house rental
Nestled in Spring Branch, this lovely house for $128 per night is a great option for your next break. This peaceful little cabin is nestled in a groove of oaks, facing a meadow and a meandering spring creek and a lighted fishing hole. It has a lot of privacy, an outdoor firepit, outdoor seating, trees, and a porch with a view of the meadow and creek. You may see an occasional grazing cow and there’s plenty of hiking, fishing and bird watching. Bring the old fishing pole. The cottage is extremely private, with a fresh water well, and state- of- the- art indoor heating and cooling. The roof and ceiling of the cottage are repurposed with antique barn tin. The cottage is furnished with old family antiques dating back to the late 1800’s. There’s a full kitchen with a beautiful, add-on, pioneer kitchen table. The kitchen is furnished with a Keurig and a microwave for those who really want to get back to basics, but not too far back! There is no wifi here. This place is not a hotel, but an old, refurbished cabin, smack dab in the middle of a working ranch! Don't be surprised if a cow greets you as you step outside the cabin for your morning coffee. We do not have fences around the cabin. Please be mindful of this if you bring your fuzzy babies along. This cottage is a true get away. A rugged yet chic, old yet modern, unplugged place to retreat. Come here and trim down, reprioritize and find your purpose again!

What a cozy spot, close to everything but just tucked away enough to get away from it all. It's perfect for dogs to run around and so much space you feel like you are on a private vacation. We are aleardy thinking about when to come back and enjoy the peace and nature.

Stay was outstanding. Truly enjoyed the enviornment and loved feeling like you are really out in the country when at the same time you are still close to good food and shopping as needed. Host was excellent and made sure I was up to date and had everything I needed!

My wife and I wanted to get away to a private cabin with no tv or wifi to celebrate our anniversary. We wanted a camping experience with a comfortable bed, coffee maker and heat/ac as needed. This fit the bill perfectly. We never saw one person on our stay but we were surrounded by deer, armadillos, birds and other critters. Yet we were close enough to town to run to Walmart as needed. I can't say enough how much we love this place. Shannon was very helpful and responsive before we arrived but after we got there we pretty much had everything we needed. Want to get away? This is the place.

Easy to locate. The property was beautiful, when facing the creek hike to the left it gets beautiful especially where you can cross over. Saw armadillo, deer and birds. There are a few other cabins on property but a great distance away. They had a cute haunted trail right down the road. Firm bed. Hot water, not great pressure but ok. There is a good distance from parking spot to cabin. I love that this rental didn’t over do it on decor. Simple and basic. Smelled clean and inviting when entering. Everything worked not sure about heat but then again I’m not the smartest cookie :) Has some beautiful palmettos and Spanish moss. We stayed to see the ring of fire for our anniversary and the field in between cabin and creek was perfect viewing. Love the bird feeders. Has two grills and a fire pit. Will def be coming back hopefully to book out a few more for a family get away.

I enjoyed 4 restful days in the Cabin in the Woods. Relaxing with only myself, deer and the occasional armadillo for company. Thanks for such a unique place!

The property completely exceeded our expectations!!! The atmosphere was tranquil and the wildlife abundant! Loved the layout of the cottage and the antiques were a welcome touch. Could not have asked for a better weekend away from city life and we wish we could live there all the time!

Once receiving check in instructions and directions all was great. Directions were spot on and there was no check in process needed, followed the instructions as given and led right up to the cabin.
Take along a wagon if you are a beer drinker like I am, the walk from parking to the cabin is a bit rough carrying a 48qt ice chest fully loaded, but then again, I ain't no spring chicken.
The cottage had everything needed and more.
Enjoyed the birds in the morning as well as the Axis deer and white tails. We got some really good pics of white tails 15 yards from the porch.
Fishing wasn't the best but it is September and 100+ degrees out. Working at STX Beef Co in south Texas and always in cold temps, I ask myself, was the fishing bad or was the temperature just not to your liking?
No TV or Internet was not an issue, the cabin had plenty of games and puzzles to keep you busy. Phone service was great and listened to XM radio while inside playing cards and dominos enjoying the cool room.
Great place Shannon, thank you for the experience.

We had the best 3 nights in this cabin. It’s so cozy! Has everything you need for an amazing stay! We saw so many deer, an armadillo, and a fox. We bought a little fishing pole at the Wal-Mart and caught a ton of little fish. We put them back, so we can catch them again! We will definitely stay here again! Thank you for such a fantastic stay!

We loved every minute of our time spent at the cabin. The deer came out a couple times, it was so peaceful, so beautiful! If we are in the area, we will definitely book it again. Good directions, easy checkin and out, excellent communication. Thank you so much!

Really quiet location but not far from 281, we had an amazing time out in nature and we were close to all the local activities, would stay again!

A very serene, peaceful country setting. We woke to the sounds of nature. No neighbors close by, no automobile sounds, just quiet. Close to Anhalt Dance Hall, which was our reason for visiting. Shopping facilities close by, however we utilized the ammenities at the cottage and cooked our own meals. We enjoyed our stay immensely and plan to visit again in the future.

Beautiful meadow with wildflowers, lovely one rm cabin with indoor facilities. Complete kitchenette with ample room for two, but will sleep up to four. Any birders should listen for the canyon wren with it’s unique descending trill. Thanks to the owners for making such a lovely place available for the weary traveler.

I absolutely loved my stay. The property was serene and beautiful. I felt like time slowed down here, in the best way. It was heavenly. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again :)

What a great place! Quiet and secluded, lots of wildlife to see, including a sweet little fox who hung out with us each night at the fire pit. The kitchen was stocked with more utensils than I have in my own kitchen, which made cooking for the family super easy. Fished during the day and everyone caught several fish. Comfy, cozy, and best of all, super clean. Can't wait to book again for another stay.

We loved our stay. The location is great, lots of beautiful deer. We used the fire pit and had an amazing experience with a beautiful gray fox that came up for some snacks, he likes marshmallows and turkey sandwiches so be prepared. Swim, float or kayak the Guadalupe river at Nichols landing right around the corner from the cabin. The hostess is very communicative, accommodating and hospitable. Thank you for sharing your homestead with us.

Rented out This cabin for me and my wife. We came here to celebrate our 7 year’s anniversary and it was the best anniversary so far. This is exactly what we needed some time away! So quiet and peaceful! We even brought our pups and they loved it! ❤️while being here we saw so many cardinals in the morning! I would definitely come again! Everything was perfect with this cabin❤️

This little spot is lovely for a weekend getaway, and now I want to come for a longer stay! The property is beautiful, the cabin is exactly as described, and the sights and sounds of nature at this place can’t be beat. The location is great if you want a secluded vacation, but also close enough to restraunts and things to do up and down highway 281. Would definitely love to stay here again!

This was our annual "take the grandkids on a trip so their parents can celebrate their anniversary" adventure with our 16 and 18 year old grands.
The house is located on a working cattle ranch. To access it, you first have to drive through typical Texas Hill Country land on a well maintained gravel road, passing grazing cattle, lots of deer, and occasional grey fox. I'm not sure when the house was built, but it has obviously been updated (and nicely). Despite temps dropping into the high 20's the first night, we were all warm and cozy. Although there is no wifi or internet connection, our tech savvy grands had a blast teaching us how to play "Exploding Kittens" (no cats were harmed during the game...). We all discovered that wifi is overrated. We roasted marshmallows over the fire pit and stargazed for hours.
If you're looking for a place that's a bit unusual but fun, this is it.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time here. The cabin was in great condition, and came stocked with all the little things you tend to forget.
There’s lots of open, quiet space, and at night you can see all the stars. My favorite part was having my own personal creek to fish! Was there 2 days and caught 12 bass, with 6 in one hour on my last day. Was told there’s a 12lb catfish in there so will definitely be coming back to try my luck! Highest recommendation, will be coming back as soon as I can.

This place was an excellent place to escape the city life of Houston. There was no loud cars driving by, no police sirens, no noisy neighbors, nothing but the sound of the wind blowing through the trees and the river running strong. If you don’t mind simplicity and are looking for a place to disconnect, this is the spot for you.

It was a wonderful stay. I would recommend it to anyone. Just one little thing. Take your own washcloths and hand and kitchen towels. That’s no furnished. No big deal just a helpful hint.

Best 4 days I've had in years! I even had an armadillo visit me when I was attempting to fish. The cabin was perfect for me and my pups. I felt very much at home when I walked in the door. I do plan on coming back when I can.

Not only is this place is a lovely, private getaway for a weekend but served us for two months as our "home" while our house was under construction. I'd recommend this peaceful getaway to anyone looking for a weekend or long stay. Thanks Shannon for your hospitality!

Nice little getaway. Although the creek and gaudelupe rivers were down we still enjoyed the fishing out back behind the cabin. We will be back hopefully when the rivers are up for some kayaking.

Pictures of property does not do it justice! It would be hard to capture all of the great things at this cottage. The wildlife was extraordinary. We saw over 50+ deer, several armadillos, a few foxes, lots of cardinals and other birds and one cute racoon! I quietly (the day before i made too much noise and scared away the deer) sat on the porch one morning (5:30am) and watched the deer graze in the field. There is a creek directly across from cottage that has a bunch of young fish that will hit your line as soon as you throw it in. I had a blast fishing. The cottage was nice and comfortable and had just about anything you needed to cook a nice meal or just heat up your leftovers. Speaking of leftovers, we went to Gruene River Grill and had an excellent dinner. You've got to try the Jalapeno Crawfish Chowder and the Jalapeno Mandarin Pork Chops! That meal was excellent! While we were there we went to see the Bats at Natural Bridge Caverns at the Braken Bat Cave. It was well worth the money and was only about 20-30 minutes from cottage. We also toured the Natural Bridge Caverns. If you want to get away from it all, I suggest you go here. Very peaceful and secluded.
