We stayed here for 8 nights in May and wish we could have stayed longer! Margherita was so helpful and communicated with us from the very beginning. She offered to call and make dinner reservations for us and she was always quick to answer any questions we had. On the day we checked in, she met us at the parking lot outside the old town entrance and showed us where to park our rental car. She then loaded us and our luggage in her car and drove us to the apartment. The parking spot was only about 3/10 of a mile from the apartment and not a long walk at all so we could have easily taken our luggage on foot (which we did when we left). But it was so nice of Margherita to meet us and take us there and then show us around the apartment. There is a paid lot at Porta Colonia but Margherita showed us a street that went down the side of the lot that has free parking and we always found a space there when returning from a day trip. If you're worried about parking outside the old town and being too far away from your apartment, don't be. It's easy in, easy out. The pictures don't convey how awesome this apartment is. There are 2 balconies, but the one on the west side has a small table and chairs where we watched incredible Tuscan sunsets in the evening and enjoyed coffee in the mornings. There is A/C in the master bedroom and the living room, but we only used it in the bedroom at night. You can open up all the windows front to back and enjoy the breezes since this apartment is higher up with great views. There were two other smaller bedrooms with twin beds that we really didn't need but we chose to have more space in exchange for the incredible views. The kitchen is adorable and had everything we needed. Margherita had a basket with espresso capsules, tea bags, snacks, etc. The Lavazza espresso maker was nice to have too! We enjoyed meeting Margherita the first day and felt like we'd known her much longer so we invited her to have dinner with us one night. We had a wonderful time talking and sharing stories and by the time we left town, we felt like we had a true friend in Cortona. We also felt like the apartment was a 2nd home and it was so hard to leave on that last day. I was worried that booking 8 days in Cortona would be too long and I ended up regretting not staying there the entire 2 weeks. We can't wait to return to the Roof Top Nest for a much longer stay and to visit our new friend! :)

Beautiful!! The apartment is so comfortable, and very well provided with everything you could wish for during your stay. It's only a two minute walk from the local general store (Molesini's) which sells everything you might need, and also a fruit/vegetable shop and a butchers around the corner. Margherita is an amazing host, who helped us with our arrival by booking a taxi for us from the station, and another when we had to get our onward train to Naples. She was there to welcome us when we arrived at the apartment, she kindly helped us with our (very heavy!!) luggage, and was unobtrusive yet easily-contactable during our whole stay. She offered to help us with restaurant bookings, and she helped us to find a wonderful vineyard tour (Baracchi vineyard; can highly recommend!). The views from every window of the apartment are stunning. I couldn't tear myself away from the windows or balconies! The beds were the comfiest we've slept in while in Italy (possibly ever, actually!) and there were plenty of fresh towels and bedlinen for all of us. I am a single mother traveling with two young children (one with disabilities) and a lot of luggage, and Margherita made our arrival, stay and departure seamless and easy. We LOVED our time in Cortona. Thank you for everything Margherita!

A rooftop haven in the historic centre of Cortona
A rooftop haven in the historic centre of Cortona
We arrived from Sardinia and we had no battery on our phones and couldn't reach the owner, she went out of her way to help us out. We eventually reached her after an hour and she accompanied us to the appartement which is in the heart of the historic centre. It is situated on the top floor of a building facing the church of St. Francis of Assisi. It is well furnished, with a fully equipped kitchen and two balconies both boasting breathtaking views. The place was very cosy and clean. The beds are very comfortable. There's a cool breeze in the evening, so no need for the available fans or air conditioning. Nice intentions; bathroom with amenities, kitchen with a box filled with coffee, jams and biscottis for breakfast. Great restaurants down the street, very well situated no need for car. We can highly recommend this property. Margherita is a very kind and attentive host. We shall definitely return!
