Nestled in Houghton Lake, this charming house for $150 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. This cute little cabin is perfect for an overnight stay or extended vacation and cheaper than the hotels in town. It has a loft bedroom upstairs with a queen bed overlooking the living room. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a double bunk on the bottom and a single bunk on the top. There is a double bed in the pull out couch in the living room if you need extra sleeping spaces. The bathroom has just been redone with a spacious shower to wind down after those long days on the trails and Lake. There is a lighted deck out back with a 6 person table and two zero gravity chairs to relax and enjoy some drinks or BBQ on with the family along with a fire pit for night time entertainment during the summer and fall. There is lake access with a beach with bathrooms and a fishing pier at the Lakeview park at the end of the neighborhood/road. It's about a 5 min. walk or less than a 30 second drive. There are three marinas (Lyman's, Brians, and Heights marina) with pontoon and boat rentals within a two minute drive and a few more within 10 minutes and the DNR boat launch is a mile down the road. The home is also within a 30 second drive of Lakeland recreation with go karts, batting cages, putt putt, and other games. The home is also only a 15 minute drive from the famous and beautiful south Higgins Lake state park as well as only a 20 minute drive to a canoe, kayak, and tubing livery on the Ausable (Campbell's canoes). The home is also within minutes of many restaurants and golf courses. The kitchen is small, so there is only a spot for two people to eat although there is a six person table on the deck as well during the summer and fall as TV trays provided for the living room. Amenities include propane grill, coffee maker, stocked kitchen, six person outdoor table, fire pit, air conditioning upstairs and downstairs, washer and dryer, Netflix, Amazon prime TV, as well as network and streaming channels with my Uverse account in the living room, but hey; you're here to enjoy the outdoors, not watch TV. Linens and Bathroom towels are provided. There is access to the lake at the end of the neighborhood during the winter months for your snowmobile and UTV and within 5 minutes of the trailheads. *The home is sanitized and deep cleaned after every stay *

We drove up to Michigan for a family vacation. The cabin was in the perfect location. It is close to both big lakes and a reasonable distance to different attractions up north. I would definitely recommend it, and hope to be able to stay there again.

Cottage was perfectly located near restaurants, Houghton Lake DNR State boat launch, and the cottage was only 12 minutes from the MI State Park and boat launch on Higgins Lake. The cottage's back yard was quiet, private and ample enough space for cooking, eating and campfires (campfire wood was included in the stay). We didn't have a need nor a want as this cozy cottage supplied everything you could think of. Overall, our stay was an enjoyable and comfortable one. A million thanks to our hosts.

The small cabin was perfect for my stay in houghton lake for training. The owners were extremely responsive and prepared the property perfectly for my week stay. They left plenty of extras for the home which would normally have to be purchased upon arrival. The property has a great area for an outdoor gathering and campfire. The owners supplied an abundance of wood as well. I was not able to use any, but it was there if needed. There was a public area close by to sit and enjoy houghton lake and a DNR boat launch just a short drive down the road.

Perfect little cabin to getaway and relax. The location was convenient with easy access to the main road thru Houghton Lake and not far from the lake. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

We enjoyed staying at this property, it was well stocked and very clean. The manager was extremely nice and helpful when our original flight was rescheduled to the next day. The house looks small on the outside but was big on the inside! Will definitely stay again if ever in the area!

It was a very nice clean home. The owners checked on us when we had a bad storm. The have a roku TV which we use at home so that was great. It was very cozy. The kitchen was fully stocked so we didn't need much. There is public access about 3 minutes away at a little beach and play area for kids. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We found the property to be impeccably clean and very cleverly decorated. Written instructions along with a personal note from our host made our stay and the operation of the appliances and air conditioner very easy. The bed in the loft was very comfortable, and after a long day of travel, was a welcomed discovery. The kitchen was stocked with all manner of utensils that left us wanting for nothing. Our hosts ensured there was plenty of ice in the freezer, and plenty of towels in the bathroom. Behind the cabin is a small platform deck that we enjoyed as we cooked out dinners on the propane grill our hosts had provided. All too soon our stay was over and it was time to leave. We brought home with us good memories of a very relaxing cabin and kind hosts who had seemingly thought of everything. I cannot recommend this property, or our hosts enough, and should we desire to once again head up to Houghton Lake, we will look to see if this wonderful oasis is available.

We had an exceptional short stay at this Houghton Lake cottage. The cottage was supplied with everything we needed and more. It was very clean, decorated nicely, and in a great location (close to the lake and other shops/ restaurants). We were able to either walk to the lake or take a short drive- which is why we chose this place because we brought our boat to take on the lake! We also enjoyed the beautiful back patio area where we were able to relax on the beautiful deck as well as have a nice fire at night. There was a shed in the backyard that was stocked with everything we needed (grill, chairs, etc.). The host, James, was extremely helpful and very prompt in answering any questions we had. He reached out before our stay asking if we were familiar with the area or if we needed any recommendations. He provided us with very helpful information about where to launch our boat as well as what were the closest/best beaches. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking to go to the Houghton Lake area!

Having a few beach towels on had would be useful as well as a few games or cards for rainy days or late nights. Wouldn't mind Maps or directions to nearby beaches/kayak rentals/stores etc. also. 😊 Overall, a very nice rental. Super nice owners with great communication. 😁👍

This was the perfect option for our first getaway as a family of 4. The house and property were clean and well maintained. It had everything we needed to cook meals including a very nice grill! It was close to the lake and family friendly actives such as Lakeland, the rocking chair store and playground and beach. It was also close to the local grocery store and Walmart so we could pick up things we forgot to pack. The upstairs loft was spacious and provided enough room for a pack n play. The owner was fantastic and easy to contact. We would recommend this property and see ourselves coming back in the future.
