Cute & Bright Garden Cottage, WFH Paradise

About this condo rental

Situated in Los Altos, this charming condo for $142 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Summary: Welcome to our little paradise! The French doors of this cute well-lit garden cottage open to a view of lavender, succulents, persimmons, strawberries, and vines. The front patio is perfect for morning yoga and evening wine, both of which pair well with the fluttering hummingbirds that feast on the plants! Get a great night's rest on the comfy queen bed, watch TV, and cook yourself a great meal in the kitchenette. If needed, we can provide a a suitable table and chair as a work space. The Space: The cottage is in the back yard of our home and is laid out in a way to give you privacy. The main room has a queen-sized bed, a comfy couch, and a small table with a smart TV, with cable TV provided via the SlingTV app. You can watch Netflix, Amazon, Hulu etc. via your own account. The French doors provide ample streams of sunshine, and the room itself is very well lit. The kitchenette has a toaster, coffee maker, bar fridge, and sink, as well as a convection microwave (instead of a traditional oven) and two tabletop induction hot plate (instead of a traditional stove). While you can cook great meals using the hot plates and the microwave, note that the kitchenette is small and not really equipped for three-course gourmet meals. Please also note that there is no dishwasher. The bathroom is spacious, with a large shower/tub and a sink, and a large skylight for maximum natural light. Guest Access: You'll have complete and exclusive access to the cottage, including the main area, the bathroom and the front patio. The driveway, the area leading to the cottage, the back yard, and the washer and dryer in the garage are shared with the residents of the front home. You're always welcome to use the back yard barbecue, and when I entertain in the back yard (roughly twice a month), we'd love to have you join us! We've met some of the most fascinating people and formed some cool connections with guests. That said, we have 100% respect for guest privacy, and we follow guest cues regarding interaction with them. The Neighborhood: The neighborhood is typical of the classic older parts of Mountain View, with a mix of cute, tidy bungalows and newer, more modern homes. It's a very walkable neighborhood, and you'll encounter lots of people walking their dogs. Downtown Mountain View (on Castro Street) is under a ten minute walk, as is Eagle Park, which has playgrounds for kids and a wide open field for dogs to roam and soccer players to dribble. You'll also see lots of cyclists, including parents bringing their kids to the nearby schools. Getting Around: You're near to major thoroughfares like El Camino Real, Shoreline, and highways 101, 85, 237, and 280 which makes this a very convenient location for all South Bay and Peninsula destinations, while San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, and Santa Cruz are only 45 minutes away, and wine country a further half hour. These thoroughfares are far enough way from the home that there's minimal traffic noise. While there are buses, in particular running along El Camino Real and Shoreline, this area is not known for public transit, so generally you'll need a car to get around, or you can take Uber or Lyft. Other Things to Note: Please note the following: - The cottage is in the back yard of another home. You have exclusive access to the entire cottage, including the main room, the kitchenette, and the bathroom. You share the backyard, the driveway, and the laundry machines (in the garage) with the occupants of the front home. - The cottage has a *kitchenette*, not a full kitchen. In particular, there is no dishwasher. Also, instead of an oven, we provide a convection microwave, which enables you to do simple baking. Instead of a stove, we provide two tabletop induction hot plate, which enables you to do simple cooking. The kitchen is neither equipped for nor large enough to make gourmet meals, but it works great for basic cooking. Many guests do all their cooking in the unit, while others take advantage of the proximity to Castro Street by dining out a lot. - The furnishings of the cottage include a queen-sized bed, a little work space / breakfast dining area, a comfy couch, and a small end table with a TV. For those who like to work from home, we're happy to provide a wheeled, standing/sitting table and suitable chair for inside the unit. Interaction with Guests: I live in the main home. While I enjoy interacting with guests, I also appreciate their need for privacy, especially after a long trip. I take my cue from the guests regarding how much interaction they would like.
