Olive House w\/Luxurious Wet Room Bath – Near Asheville & The Biltmore Estate
About this cottage rental
Located in Woodfin, this charming cottage for $269 per night is a great option for your next vacation. BEAUTIFUL NEWLY RENOVATED 1935 FARMHOUSE This beautiful, newly-renovated little farmhouse is one story and has level access (no stairs) from the easy level driveway and 3-car parking area – rare for these parts. Near Asheville and many local attractions, or beautiful and comfortable to enjoy just staying in. --------------------------------- NOTE: Please take your time and read our listing thoroughly - it's packed with helpful information. Most of your questions will be answered here. Once you book, I will send you a PDF of our very-informative "Welcome Book" - it's full with great info about "Olive", the area, local restaurants, grocery stores, hiking trails, etc. (There's also a printed copy at the cottage for your reference during your stay.) --------------------------------- Named for the short private road she sits on, "Olivette", and her green-and-orange colors (think Manzanilla olives), not too long ago our amazing little Olive House was a diamond in the rough. It had been in disrepair for decades, but when we saw the spacious living area, the empty oversized bathroom (see "Bath Oasis"), the aged pine floors, we knew that with a lot of love, creativity, and elbow grease (and a bit of cash) this little empty shell would shine again and become the beautiful "Olive House" she is today. ALL NEW... beautiful "Bath Oasis" (more about the bath below), ensuite bath, stainless steel refrigerator, electric range, siding, HVAC, electric, plumbing with on-demand hot water, coffered ceilings, lighting and fans, 3 sets of french doors, barn doors, full professional paint inside and out, gorgeous refinished floors, new laundry room with new washer and dryer, all new furnishings, new beautiful gardens and privacy fence, new spacious parking area, and revived roof and deck… The time has come for the Olive House to shine and for you to enjoy! From the new coffered ceilings to the rich ebony pine floors, Tom and I worked to bring our vision to life so our guests could enjoy this sweet little gem of Asheville. LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Our Olive House is approximately 15 minutes to the city, another 10 to the entrance of the Biltmore Estate, and about 20 minutes total to just about any wonderful hiking trail and attractions in the Asheville area. About as close as you can get and still have a whole-house rental! Perfect! CLEAN This property is Fresh & Clean! Our Olive House is professionally cleaned thoroughly and thoughtfully after each stay with no same-day turns. So, if you're looking for someplace beautiful, comfortable, CLEAN, and private to get away from the hustle and bustle... you found it! (Did I mention the epic bathroom?!) SUPPLIES Stocked to get you started... paper towels, tp, coffee, sugar, soaps, and more. If you need more, grocery stores are minutes away. WELCOME GIFT We love to offer you a Welcome Gift for staying at our sweet Olive House - an assortment of delicious trail mix packets will be waiting for you on the Welcome table. They're great for a quick snack upon arrival, or to take along for a hike. Enjoy! For those of you bringing your pup, we leave a few doggy treats, a set of bowls in case you forget yours, and a doggy bed so they're just as comfortable as you are. STAY "HOME" If you'd like to stay cozied up in your beautiful secluded getaway, grab a sweet tea and play a game on the deck by the light of the vintage-style Edison bulbs. Or maybe make s’mores around the fire pit while enjoying the fresh mountain air and the laughter of family. Want to keep it simple… relax in the living room with a good book, puzzle, game, or a movie on the 50” smart TV with cable channels. Don't forget to bring your Netflix login! EPIC "BATH OASIS" Speaking of "relaxing"... did I mention the EPIC bathroom? Just cast your eyes on those photos! It’s a spacious bathroom with a beautiful repurposed vanity, gorgeous tile floors and walls, separate toilet room with barn door, frameless shower door, and a "wet room" with shower and the original refurbished 1920 antique clawfoot tub. Draw a warm bath and relax with a glass of wine and a good book while you soak your stress away. Bath Oasis! And yes, the ensuite bathroom off the Queen room – once a large empty closet – is also new and quite beautiful… just not quite “epic”. BEDS There's 2 new comfy beds for restful nights after your big days exploring... the king-sized iron bed in the room with 2 new sets of french doors – with blinds and decorative frosted glass for your privacy, a wall of built-ins, and rich dark refinished fir flooring. The second bedroom has a beautiful oak queen bed, painted antique flooring, and ensuite bathroom. If you'd like to bring your own air mattress and bedding, there's plenty of floor space in the living room to sleep 2 more. (Fees may apply.) A BIT MORE... Our Little Olive House is situated on a cozy yard, partially surrounded by a privacy fence (not completely fenced), shaded by a large oak tree, and a wrap-around deck with plenty of sunshine. It's owner-managed and we take pride in doing all the little things to make your stay an amazing experience... I love to leave a Welcome Gift for our Guests. You can choose a bottle of Biltmore red or white wine or delicious Trail Mix. For those of you bringing your pup, we leave a set of bowls in case you forget yours, doggy tennis balls to play in the yard, and a doggy bed so they're just as comfortable as you are. We're happy to make suggestions and help whenever we can. DRIVEWAY Unlike many other properties in the area, our wide level driveway with 3 parking spots is easy for navigation and parking. Inclement weather is rarely an issue. That's a reassuring feature if you've ever tried driving up a steep WNC driveway in one of our winter snowstorms! EXPLORE Feeling the need to get out a bit? Visit the nearby grounds and gardens of the magnificent Biltmore Estate, drive the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, or hike to one of the area's magnificent waterfalls. So much to do, or nothing at all. The choice is yours! It's a short drive to Asheville and many local adventures and attractions, but comfortable to enjoy just staying in and relaxing. Use the House as home base while you ski Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway, kayak the French Broad, tube the Green, tour the Biltmore Estate, sample the local shops, restaurants and breweries... whatever makes you smile! ******************************** An important note: Even though it’s a rare, in this uncertain time of extreme weather and illnesses a guest may need to cancel shortly before they check in. For that reason, we strongly recommend purchasing trip insurance wherever you book. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we (all VRBO owners) may be unable to refund your late cancellations. VRBO offers you their insurance when you book, however feel free to investigate other options. A little spent now could save your much later. We enjoyed staying here and celebrating Thanksgiving .

Great place to stay within 10-15 minutes of Asheville. Cute, comfortable house with a nice little yard . Convenient place for my wife and I and our pup to stay over New Years. Will be back, preferably in warmer months!

This house was the perfect place for our family trip to Asheville! Kris was the best host and super attentive and helpful with any and everything we needed. Myself, my husband, our one year old son and two dogs had a blast. The partial privacy fence was amazing at helping our pups not get distracted when going out to potty. The porch was so nice with beautiful string lights that weren’t overbearing. The house was extremely clean, the shower was so relaxing and the king size bed was super comfortable. We slept great, were only 15 minutes from the entrance to Biltmore and close to all our favorite Asheville activities and restaurants. The silver-line park in Woodfin was a perfect play area for our son and High Five coffee was a delicious morning treat. We will definitely be staying here again when we make our next trip to the area!

My friend and I and our four small dogs under 10 pounds, stayed for three nights and had a fantastic time. Plenty of yard for roaming, even though it wasn't fully fenced. The hosts were amazing and very responsive! Great location. Very cozy with all needed amenities!

What a delight to enjoy a Christmas reunion with our adult son in the Olive House! Plenty of room for son and parents to have our own space and bath facilities. And nice dining table for face-to-face time at meals. Loved the décor. And the ways you anticipated your guests’ needs. I particularly enjoyed the hand-held shower sprayer! An amenity we don’t often find at VRBOs. And the shower brush (since we inadvertently left ours at home).
Night-time temps were in the 20s, but water was quickly warm, and bedding was also warm, even without the extra blanket on the end of the bed. The heater worked great.
My biggest problem was with using the bed to sit on. The mattress is high and even though I am 5’7” and my husband and son are over 6’, we all had trouble sitting on the bed without sliding off. It’s the combination of the high, rounded mattress and the unpadded rug on the slick (but beautiful) wood floor. There is no friction to stop you from keeping sliding. I had to “re-sit” on the bed constantly so I wouldn’t wind up on the floor. (Which was quite a trick while trying to put on pants and socks. There is no other place to sit to dress privately, unless you carry everything to the bath) I think a pad for the rug could help.
Thank you for the wonderful hospitality so close to downtown. We will be back!

Really nice place…. Enjoyed the home and the remodeled bathroom. Little lack of privacy with neighbors but the fencing helped. Easy to find and good parking….not far from downtown either.

Great place to stay after a couple of days in downtown Asheville. Would prefer this cozy cottage hands down to town as the perfect home away from home vibe. Great point to plan all our hiking day trips from and come back to a serene environment to relax after.

The Olive House was a wonderful place to stay for our trip to the Biltmore Estate. Kristen is a wonderful host. Very easy to get in touch with. The cottage was very welcoming and comfortable. We enjoy staying places where you can go back and relax after being out sightseeing. Definitely recommend.

We had a great stay. Very comfortable with all of the amenities. We highly recommend.

The Olive House is in a great location with mountain terrain plus quick proximity to downtown Asheville and all of the wonderful restaurants. We especially loved the luxuriousness of the wet room with the best shower I have ever used! The tub was awfully inviting but I couldn’t pull myself away from the shower! Hosts were extra responsive.

This was a beautiful property and accurately described. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Hope to come back and stay here some day. Adam from Ohio.

The house had everything we needed for our stay. Great space if you want to bring your dog with you! It was calm and quiet but only 12-15 mins to downtown, south slope, and west Asheville. The fire pit was a great addition and we loved being able to have a fire most nights. Communication with the host was quick and easy too. I would highly recommend this property!

Great spot for a girls weekend. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle but easy to access Asheville and the surrounding area.

The house was beautiful and just as advertised. It truly felt like a retreat from the world for us. Kris the owner, was super responsive to questions and requests. She was also very helpful in suggesting things that we could do in Asheville over the 4th of July weekend while we were there. I absolutely recommend her property.

Great location, wonderful spot to relax but near all the sites. Loved that there was plenty of staples - towels, paper towels, TP, trash bags, etc. Many rentals provide two days of supplies at most but not Olive. Would definitely stay again.

First of all, the owner was FANTASTIC to deal
With! She could not have been any nicer and was very easy to talk to. Felt like I knew her!
Upon arrival we had a wonderful bottle of wine and some snacks awaiting us!
The master shower was OUTSTANDING! Heaven on earth! Both beds were comfy, the king sized was the most comfy. Maybe a mattress topper on the queen would help a tad, but still comfy either way.
I have nothing negative to say, just some suggestions. Some suggestions I have would be to completely fence in the yard since it’s dog friendly and maybe have some Tupperware there for leftovers after cooking, etc. of course we had our Christmas dinner there, so we needed Tupperware….others may not ever need it.
Other than that, all was fantastic! We did not get to utilize the fire pit b/c it was -degree temps, but it was cute and quaint and inviting.
Trust me, you will LOVE the Olive House! Quaint, cute, and just what the doctor ordered!

We rented the Olive House for Thanksgiving to do something different. We were pleasantly surprised how cute this place is. It is a great use of the space they have, but there was plenty of comfort and everything we needed was there. This is a charming old house they have given a new purpose for and it is perfect. We like to cook and knowing some VRBOs don’t have everything you need, we brought things just in case. We only used our Dutch oven out of everything we brought. Everything else is there. You just have to look in ALL the cabinets under the counter.
The main bathroom shower area is huge with the claw foot tub in the wet area.
The beds were comfortable and we slept quite well.
It seemed like the house was a fair distance to shopping, but once you take the first trip to the store, it is not far at all and downtown Asheville is just as close.
Don’t pass up this little gem. We will certainly keep it in mind for another trip to the area.

The rental process was easy and straightforward. The property was very clean, peaceful and charming. The property owner provided a very helpful booklet with all pertinent information needed for a great vacation .

My sister and I just spent a great week in NC staying at The Olive House. This was my first Vrbo; I was a bit apprehensive as I am a Marriott / Hilton girl. The house was immaculate and tastefully decorated. It had every amenity we could need. The wrap around deck was the best to sit out in the am w/ our coffee. Very quiet area that is a short drive to Asheville. The host’s “Welcome Book” offered so much info for the area; 2 of our easy hikes were from the “Book”. Kris (host) was very helpful when I asked about recommendations for the area. Will definitely return on a future NC trip. 5 stars

House was nicely refurbished. Only issue was size of sitting area furniture. It was a bit small for tall people.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Olive House last week. The house was overall very nice and spacious enough for our 3 person group plus 2 dogs. Communication with Kris was very good - she left a bottle of wine for us which was very nice but there was no corkscrew. I contacted her and she brought one over later that day. The beds were very comfortable and we found that water pressure in showers was just fine. Some reviews indicated that water pressure was low but I think that only applied to the kitchen sink. If you do have dogs you should know that the yard is not entirely fenced and we had to keep our dogs leashed while outside.
We have done many VRBO rentals and the only negative feedback I have for this property is due to expectations based on previous experience. The negatives are:
Lack of condiments for cooking - we went to the grocery store and actually cooked one meal at the house. There are ample cooking utensils, and pots and pans. We expected basic condiments (e.g. salt) and did not check before grocery shopping. The house had only black pepper.
Lack of laundry detergent - we did not need to do laundry but if you do, you will need your own laundry detergent.
Lack of paper products - we had one roll of toilet paper per bathroom and half a roll of paper towels in the kitchen. There was no backup supply when those ran out so we had to purchase our own.
Lack of towels - there are two towels per bathroom. For those of us that like to use two towels (one for hair, one for body) this doesn't work if you are sharing the bathroom.
All in all, this is a good pet-friendly option for staying in Asheville. The house is in a rural type of setting but not far to downtown Asheville.

This was an amazing stay! Kristen was so easy to communicate with. She made sure our property was clean and ready for us on time. We loved that there were suggestions of things to do while we were here and she wrote out names on the chalkboard to welcome us! She even bought us a bottle of wine! We loved our stay and will definitely be back!

My husband and I just LOVE the Olive House! We have stayed there twice now (2 weeks back in June) and it really is a home away from home! Kris and Tom do such a great job making sure every detail is taken care for their guests and they were always available if we needed anything or had any questions. When you check-in, there is a full book of activities/restaurants and many other fun places to check out during your visit! So helpful when you are new to the area and need the local knowledge! I would highly recommend staying at this adorable little house and I look forward to booking it again at some point down the road! :)

Good place for us (family of 4 + dog). Good location, as in proximity to Asheville. Immediate neighbors were quiet the weekend we were there. Yard not entirely enclosed, so we did have to be with our dog. The dog did figure out how to get out of the yard, but thankfully, he's a good boy and he came back. It is a bit of a hazard that the road separates the parking spots. So, you have to be careful when opening the yard gate, as you are immediately on the driveway where the couple houses down the driveway use. Might be an issue with younger children. The host, Kristen, was very responsive and seemed to genuinely want to improve the experience (most of the issues discussed have already been discussed with her).
The place is nice--not blow the socks off nice, but nice. My wife thought the sofa had a dog smell (our dog does not climb any furniture), though I didn't really notice. I would say it's a tad pricey for what you get, but there are not many great options for those traveling with dogs in 10 min. proximity to Asheville.
We are a bit of coffee snobs, and the giant tins of Maxwell House did not lead to great coffee. Thankfully, there's a good coffee shop nearby that ground up some good coffee for us. Also, though there is a clothes washer and dishwasher, no soap/detergent is provided (listing does say soaps included--but they mean bath soap only). Finally, it's weird that VRBO encourages their hosts to remove condiments, oils, or spices due to the pandemic. The pandemic is a respiratory contagion, not really a surface hazard. So, it really doesn't make any sense that there are no spices or condiments. But, all in all, we enjoyed our long weekend at the Olive House and we would return.

Olive house is a great place for stopping over on your journey. Close to Biltmore, downtown and brewery. Great for your pups also. We made a full meal from local food purchased at the Central Farmers market downtown. The bottle of wine from Kris our host was perfect. We saw a black bear!

Place was extremely clean and owner adds lots of personal touches like providing fire wood and wine. Just 10 minute drive into the Asheville action, so great location. We were 2 couples with our 2 dogs, so there was plenty of room and privacy to not be right on top of each other. Host was also very responsive to questions throughout stay. We would definitely rent this house again when back in the area.

The property was not fenced in and was located on a very busy road, not a place for a pet. The only yard space was uncut long grass that I had to ask for it to please be cut so I had a place to walk the dogs. For the amount of money this home cost to rent for two weeks I expected, clean unstained, not torn sheets. A properly functioning stove, it smoked and set smoke alarm off every time it was used. The burners on the stove pulled out of place when preparing food and one side slid the pan off the stove. There was no water pressure. The sofas are for a very small person, child. Prime TV was paid for by renter. The front door lock was broken. Paper products that were included was one roll of toilet paper only. The trash smelled SO bad as it was not removed for two weeks, discussing. I have rented through VRBO before and was completely satisfied. This home was disappointing and not worth half of what I was charged. I don't think people should be falsely lead or overcharged.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Olive House! It's close to all that Asheville has to offer, super clean, and cute as a button.
If you are looking for a place where you can wake up and hear the birds sing, this is it. Yet, it's just a quick drive to W. Asheville, Arts District, and Downtown. And easy access to Biltmore, Blue Ridge Parkway, and all points nature.
Kris is super nice, and very responsive if anything is needed.

Nice but needs improvement
Nice property. It was clean. TV didn’t work. It took over 2 hours to repair. No ice trays were in freezer. Water pressure was very low. Limited TV stations.
