You'll be just steps from the sand (two houses back from the beach) and this home also has a peek-a-boo view of the ocean from its patio. It is a great place if you are a surfer. It is an ideal location close to a tremendous number of things to do - both land and water-based. Wine tastings, tours, live entertainment, and cultural venues are just a sample of your choices. At the end of the day, you can enjoy a warm fire and digging your toes into the sand at fire rings, located at Corona del Mar State Beach and near the Balboa Pier. You can also choose aquatic adventures - from sunset cruises to stand-up paddle boarding, to surfing or whale watching. Or if you are a land lover hiking along a 10.5 trail near the beach or having fun at The Balboa Fun Zone might also be an option. Enter and find yourself in the living area of a great room with access to the patio, a large TV, and lots of comfortable seating from which to enjoy it all in between your various adventures. A dining area is right next to a modern kitchen complete with everything you need for meal making for you and your family or guests. Add the food and you are all set. The outside patio, with its dining table and barbecue, is a great place to enjoy ocean breezes and the changing colors of the western sky as the sun sets ‚ anytime. Access to this property is via several steps at the entryway. Reservations for this home will not be refunded if canceled within 60 days of arrival. DRE: 02160171 If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the nightly pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting "Yes" to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). The house was wonderful, I would definitely stay again. There was no way to park in the garage, but we were able to find street parking. and they definitely need more silverware, but other than that the visit was great. And the location was perfect.

Location was great. Neighborhood was great . Parking was a bit of a challenge . Listing said nothing about not having AC. Not real clear as to where to put trash. However all in all not a bad place .

We were a bit nervous after reading the reviews, but didn't want to lose our booking fee, so we went with lowered expectations. We were pleasantly surprised, particularly by the cleanliness & the location, both of which were excellent. We stayed in the lower unit, which was exactly as described & photographed. The beds were very comfortable with fans & extra blankets & pillows. The unit itself is spacious & it was nice to have 2 bathrooms, however, the bathtub STILL does not drain, despite all the reviews. The tap is also funny, it should actually come with instructions. The other bathroom was perfectly fine. The "musty smell" people complain about is part of life when you live a block from the ocean (duh), it wasn't bad. Our daughter appreciated the beach toys. We didn’t use the BBQ, but it looked quite nice. The kitchen's gas stove worked great. Our unit was very quiet until the new renters showed up above us, the sound does travel through the floor & it sounded like they had a couple baby elephants playing tag at one point. A couple other things if you plan to stay here... don't rely on parking in the garage, there's no way 2 cars can fit & don't rely on laundry unless you're comfortable handling someone else's (coin operated & always full). One last thing we noticed was that the ad stated “dog ok” but there’s a sign on the wall that clearly states “absolutely no pets on the property”, you might want to double check before planning on bringing your furry friend(s) along.

I wish I would’ve read the comments carefully. The unit is extremely outdated and smells musty, almost like a kitty litter box. In fact, it almost felt like a cat had been in the space because I felt a bit allergic in the living room with a big area rug. The space is dark and not well-appointed for cooking meals. The tub had a very slow/plugged drain, which I now see was also an issue for a visitor in March -in 6 mos, this issue has not been resolved. We were under the impression we would have access to a washer and dryer but the machines were coin operated, in the garage. The listing also said that we could park in the garage, but there was no room to park because another car was permanently parked there. The proximity to the beach, our short stay and the outside patio are what made our stay bearable.

We had a plumbing issue where the shower would not turn off which took 24 hours to fix. Everything is old, musty, and needs a deep cleaning. The kitchen needs more pots and mixing bowls. The coin operated washer and dryer are not great. We went to a laundry mat up the street. The location is great and we have stayed in the general area for decades but we do not recommend this place.

Decent house, but only one toilet works. Also - ask about the unit above this one... It appears it is being remodeled and they do the work after 9PM into the morning hours. It would have been a good stay had we had two working bathrooms and the construction was not going on at NIGHT.

The upstairs balcony was under construction, no relaxing there. Very nice living area connected to the kitchen. No bedroom attached to a bathroom. Otherwise, super close to the beach. About 1 mile from Newport Pier.

Location was awesome! Just a short walk to the beach but the house itself was not nice at all. It was stinky and not very clean. The drains in the kitchen stunk and the drain in the bath tub was plugged. Wouldn’t stay here again.

The condo is situated a couple blocks away from Newport Beach… NOT steps away from Mission Beach like it says in the description of the vicinity. When you initially look at the maps the property appears to ge close to Belmont park, and it is not. That was a huge inconvenience for my family. Dishes were dirty upon our arrival, shower water was difficult to regulate which caused my niece/nephew to burn themselves with the really hot water. No cleaning supplies provided other than dish soap. The house smelled bad! The parking garage is shared with another VERY EXPENSIVE vehicle and it is SUPER tight!!

First, the reason we picked this particular house was it stated in the description “wheelchair accessible” that is a total lie. There are two steps in front of house and a very narrow walkway from garage, my fathers wheelchair could not access the home. This was very disappointing as my two siblings and I all met at the house I rented with my husband and daughter and two grandchildren and my parents were suppose to stay with us thinking the home was wheel chair accessible. Unfortunately they had to stay in Anaheim at my brothers and drive to Newport every day. The bathrooms were only functionable not the cleanest there’s mold around the tile and floor of the one shower and the one with the bathtub also had mold and residue. The kitchen was nice basic and clean. The family area was exactly as described and clean for the most part. The back porch was nice although the cleaning crew forgot to take doggy bags of poop that were left on the table so that was gross but easily taken care of. Bedrooms were as described and clean beds were comfortable. there was a washer and dryer although the tenant or owner upstairs had their car in the garage where the washer and dryer were and made it very difficult to access it, also was a pain because it was a coin based washer and dryer so gathering change to do laundry was difficult. Location was perfect that was the best thing about the house. I give the house three stars. I would come back, although prepare differently now knowing what to expect. I would definitely change the wording in your description as there is no way this house is wheelchair accessible and that was the biggest disappointment for a family vacation.

Nice getaway, we booked this house for a few days. We did Disneyland one day and beached the other days. It was fun and very close to the beach. Just a heads up if you plan on taking multiple cars, it’s hard finding parking. This house comes with one spot in the garage, however the other car parked inside make it impossible to park a Camry next to it. And if you plan on cooking/ bbqing. I suggesting taking pots. They one only one large one and a few small pans.

We loved the location, we were so close to the beach without being right in the sand. The patio was perfect for morning coffee and enjoying wine in the evening. We loved having a garage space. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of bath towels and beach towels. The kitchen was fully stocked. The was a little maintenance that needed to be done. Some of the recessed ceiling lights were coming out, the vinyl blinds in the front room need replacing, but other than that we were very pleased. I would definitely recommend The Castle Beach House.

Every night homeless people sneak up to the rooftop patio, and then in the morning they sneak back down. There is a gate-free spiral staircase to the rooftop patio and they use it often. Notified the management company, they don’t care and didn’t do anything. It’s a major safety concern, not to mention the nasty smell and the gross piles of stuff up there. STAY AWAY! Wish we hadn’t stayed here :(

Great location and plenty of room.
My family stayed for a week. It was very Hot and No A/C. During Labor Day week. at night it was very uncomfortable to the point we almost left and went to a Hotel. Yes you can rent AC units locally but they were already all rented out so we drove 3 hours all over town and finally purchased 4 A/C units Which cost $1,900. This company should offer them or have 1 in the unit. And there was no toilet paper. I talked to the company managing and they said we would have to buy our own. That was ridiculous. Also get $20 in Quarters because they charge to wash laundry. And the parking spot is for a car no larger than a Dodge Durango.

Bad. Lights didn’t work. Ice dispenser didn’t work. Screen door was broken. Didn’t get garage spot due to tenant upstairs. Fell over table that was put in walkway by tenant upstairs. I should be reimbursed for half of my money

Property incorrectly listed as sleeps eight & only sleeps 6. We made numerous attempts to contact property manager by phone & email who never called back. My issue remained unresolved for duration of stay. I finally received $100 credit after almost 6-weeks later. No parking space in garage since people who rented upstairs parked in middle of tiny space. And the street parking is nearly an impossibility. You are literally about 50 steps away from beach access & can walk right onto beach from sidewalk. The beds are very comfortable...but bathrooms are very tiny. The property is nice...but do not expect management to respond appropriately to resolve any issues.
