I was visiting friends & family in the area and timed it with seeing the annual Holiday Boat Parade. The apartment was in a great location. I didn’t even need a car because everything was within walking distance! The apartment was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. I’ll definitely return.

This was perfect and very spacious for my solo visit and it is incredibly close to everything. Walkability was key as I didn't have a car. Thank you, Cheryl!

Been to Newport a bunch of times but this was our first time staying on Balboa Island. Was super happy with the price with the location and how awesome the place was. Main street was a short walk and parking was easy to find but it was Nov so not many visitors. The place was clean and had everything you need, really loved it and can't wait to stay there again!!!!

Great location for walking around the island. I was taking a painting class at a gallery on Marine and Balboa - an easy walk. The place was a little run down and dated - but charming in its own way. There didn’t appear to be any heat source except a wood stove. Some kindling would have been needed in order to get a fire going - so I just wrapped up in a blanket when sitting in the living room at night when it got pretty cool. I had some trouble with getting the tv to work with the Roku - but the owner was very responsive with that issue.

Very, very nice place to stay! Property was amazing, and there was everything there that we needed. And then some. We will definitely be coming back! Easy access to everything. And the local areas were gorgeous. Walking around the island was easy. And beautiful. Many beaches within 10-20 minute drive. Balboa area had charm, as did the rental. See you again soon!

We were in town for my bonus sons soccer tournament and decided to make it a little vacation for us. While we heard there would be a challenge for parking during the day, we really didn’t have any issues at. The place was everything it was advertised to be and more. We will definitely staying there again when in Newport!

A nice little pad on Balboa. Our first time staying on the island, and conveniently located near the main street. Not the property's fault, but planes taking off from SNA start at 7am sharp. Mattress is fine. Wood stove is cute but stubbed my toe on the base as it is right next to the bedroom door.

The host thought of everything to make us comfortable and at home. Clean, charming, easy access, right in the middle of Balboa fun! What a bargain. We would definitely choose to stay here again!!!!

My wife and I stayed here a few nights and were very much charmed by the place. It has a homey cabin feel and has close proximity to Newport Beach. There are nice restaurants and shops within walking distance. We definitely would recommend staying here!

Cute traditional style rental with high vaulted ceiling. Big living area and everything you could need in the kitchen. In a perfect location on Balboa Island, close to cafes, shops and a short walk to the ferry. My favourite thing was to grab a coffee and sit on the beach side bench up the street.

The bed was so comfortable that we wanted to ask the listing holder about the mattress! Balboa Island is delightful. If you stay here, walk around the perimeter at sunrise and sunset.

We came to Balboa Island to meet up and play music with longtime friends. Staying on Apolena gave us easy access to the downtown area, to the Ferry Crossing, and to the small Island where our friends were congregating. The apartment was fully equipped for our needs and we felt very much at home.

Everything about this place was perfect. It had everything we needed for the perfect getaway. Very adorable unit that has everything you need. Felt very private and quiet. Very shirt walk to main street with great food and shops. Easy access to grocery stores and whatever you needed. Planning a trip back already.

This is an adorable 1bedroom. Everything was clean and bed was so comfortable. A little issue with lack of water pressure in bathtub, but shower was great!! I would definitely recommend it!

The property is located in an ideal spot. Close to dining, shopping and scenic spots. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet as well. Super comfortable bed! Great stay!

The property manager deserves kudos for how much she helped us. Place is in a great location to everything on the island. We are very happy we didn’t have a car and enjoyed walking and biking. Bed comfortable and for those of us snore, the couch was perfectly fine! Would stay there again.

Only stayed for 2 hours as unit was extremely hot. Had a window unit that did not cool the unit at all. Would not recommend this unit at all. Outside temperature was a pleasant 80 degrees during the day. This was in August.

Great little property within walking distance to just about everything. We rented bikes and went all over the area easily. Clean, well appointed studio apartment that is larger than it looks! The toilet did run and did flush slowly but just needs TLC. We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely little apartment tucked away on the alley. Wonderful host, perfectly appointed, fast Wi-Fi connection and great accessibility on the Roku. Don’t give up on the toilet. A few quirks but everything works great with the right touch. Thx for sharing your beautiful space in this island oasis.

Great little property just right for single or a couple. Stairs up and down not too much for my old-lady knees. Parking around the corner (entrance is off the alley) was not difficult. Window A/C was enough to cool the place during the day and I relied on the ceiling fans at night. (Visited in August). Wished it had been pet friendly, but understand owner's rule. Easy walk to the main street shopping and short drive to the ferry. Would bring my bicycle next time.

Great place to stay. Parking is the only issue. Don't park on the left side of the streets on Monday from 0830 - 1230 and the right side of the street Tuesday same times for the street sweeper. Felt a little like a Monty Python movie but we eventually ALWAYS found parking. Cute island. Lots to do. Close to everything

I felt like a princess walking into this cottage apartment. It's perfect for a couple, prettily decorated, filled with light and well-equipped. It's also an amazing deal for Balboa, which according to Wikipedia has the most expensive real estate in North America outside of lower Manhattan. It's a minute walk to inner bay beaches, where we swam in the channel, and a bit of a longer walk to Balboa's famous two minute ferry to the peninsula for ocean beaches. You can also leave your car and walk to the Main street for shopping, and there's a supermarket nearby as well. We were visiting family nearby, and they all wanted a copy of Cheryl's listing for their own getaways!

We absolutely loved our stay in this little apartment! Communication was great! The owner is very warm and gracious. Balboa Island is charming! Everything is within walking distance; even the ferry. It was fantastic to have the full kitchen and used it daily. It was perfect for our girls trip and slept three adults comfortably. Would love to come back!!

Fantastic location. Parked our car upon arrival and never got in it again until we left. Everything is walking distance. Balboa Island is a charming throwback to yester-year. Loved it.
