Frank and Linda were very accommodating from the start of us pulling in to the driveway! Walking in to pastries is always a plus!
The view and the fire pit at night was what we needed!

First things first, the owners of The Second Wind are awesome! Frank and Linda were super welcoming, super friendly, and you can tell they just want their guests to have a good time. They were very accomodating, and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The cabin was clean, well decorated, and the property was awesome! Dock and shoreline access with AWESOME fishing, and if you feel like getting on the water, Frank and Linda have kayaks! Long story short, go stay here! You wont regret it.

The property was easy to get too and the owners were good Christian people! Everything one needs to escape life! I look forward to returning!

Our hosts Frank and Linda are a delightful couple as we’re the delicious muffins and cookies . We had everything you would expect at a nice hotel including coffee for the Kuerig . Absolutely lovely cabin inside and out . It’s right at the waters edge and there are kayaks and a dock you can use . Nearby Lake House restaurant was very good . Just a 8-10 minute drive . I wish we could have stayed longer and hope to come back again - Mike and Pam

This was a great place to stay for the weekend. Close to Jefferson and some really good wineries. Hosts were very attentive and sweet. Will go again. :)

Our quiet restful vacation was just that, “A Second Wind.” We were welcomed by the kindest people on the face of this earth, Frank and Linda. The smiles on their faces when we arrived was as large as our get-a-way smiles were. The cabin was fantastic, beautiful, and extremely clean. My eyes about popped out of my head and my tummy was yelling “oh boy,” there was homemade chocolate chip cookies, banana nut muffins, and baklava. Did I mention all this was made from scratch and love?
Frank and Linda are rare jewels straight from heaven. I am 62 years old and have never come home from a trip rested and already wanting to go back. This trip has reminded me of the simple days, the days that mankind has forgotten with all the traffic, hustle and bustle of running around, taking care of people, working, etc. If we could only get back to loving our neighbor and basking in the quietness, stillness, beauty of God’s nature. The wind blowing through the tall, tall trees was absolutely breathtaking.
While on the back patio facing such beautiful scenery and gorgeous water; I saw three baby deer’s frolicking through the trees. This trip has engraved the longing of new fresh days with less hustle and more rest and relaxation.
The log cabin was gorgeous, and every little detail is built with love from Frank and Linda. And, the view is unbelievable. Also, some of Frank’s own pieces he carves out of wood and are beautiful to buy. Bring cash, if you would like to buy something hand made!

By far the most Pleasant stay of all the weekend getaways I have experienced. Mrs Linda and Frank are Best. The Ccokies and muffins are 5 star quality that awaits you upon arrival. Million dollar lake front view and the wildlife is Gods gift to all that is fortunate to witness. Will be returning in the near future and I highly recommend this hidden gem at the Lake O Pines. May God continues his Blessings upon Linda and Frank and do yourself a favor and make plans for your next getaway 🙏

My husband and I needed to get totally away for a few days. The property was everything it said and then some. We will definitely put this on our return list. Even got to do some kayaking for the first time. I'd love to come back in cooler weather so I can enjoy the firepit. For this time, sitting on the deck in the morning listening to the lake sounds, drinking my coffee was heaven. Frank and Linda were wonderful.

I visited with my spouse and dog. Hosts have gone above and beyond for the property. You are about 15-20 minutes min. from restaurants and grocers, so plan ahead, but hosts have you covered for the basics; salt, pepper, ice, kitchenware... and then some not-so-basics, like popcorn with different flavoring shakers, butter, sodas. Even the dog wasn't left out- Frank came back with a treat bag! You won't need sweets- Linda's baking is stellar and I already miss it.
They provide the basic hotel amenities and then some- there was good lotion, which I had forgotten and was very grateful for.
Firepit has plenty of wood (though it wasn't covered when we were there, so if you are there during a rainy time you may want a backup.) The combination of the grill and firepit is a real bonus. They keep all the grilling kit clean/bagged.
The AC and fan are sufficient, there's a patio fan as well and the patio and furniture is kept very clean.
There are 2 stable, standard kayaks with lifevests and they really made the trip for me. Lakefront and lake kept clean- the best part of the place.
Bring cash if you like wood art- there's plenty, reasonably priced.
Cabin accessible; there are wheelchair ramps and paving to the patio (but the lake is too far/on public land for that.)
Fantastic for those seeking a tame outdoor retreat (with wi-fi, no TV). Kind hosts definitely want you to relax and enjoy your stay and check in to make sure you have what you need without being intrusive.

Communication with the property owners was extremely open and fluid. The stay did not turn out as we had planned but that was due to sever inclement weather that caused major power outages etc.. After seeing the property we do intend to book it again.

The sign in the front yard of the cabin says it all. We are retired but busy folks and we simply wanted to get away for a quick but relaxing stay. The Second Wind was exactly that for us. The cabin had everything we needed and more. We parked our car when we arrived and didn’t use it for several days. The hosts were attentive to our every need and sat on the porch with us to visit just as if we were long-time neighborhood friends. Everything about our ‘little get-away trip” was just what we needed and the time we had looked forward to.

If you are on the fence about visiting, do yourself a favor and book it! Frank and Linda are fantastic hosts. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed including fresh delicious baked goodies. The back patio view is stunning. It was a much needed quiet, peaceful, and relaxing weekend. we even caught some catfish and cooked them up on the grill. They did a beautiful job building the cabin. The wood work is exquisite and the bed was so comfy! We are already planning our next visit!

We were warmly welcomed by the owner. We found multiple surprises for us to enjoy. Fresh baked delights, fresh fruit and gift bags were for our taking. Area was very quiet and peaceful. We could’ve fished if we had wanted. Wonderful place to sit back and relax. Don’t expect to watch tv. There isn’t one!

This location was perfect for a surprise birthday fishing weekend. The amenities were perfect for us...lake view, lake access, fire pit, and grilling! We'll go kayaking next time. The hosts are the best I've ever experienced. There were birthday treats and decorations waiting for us. What a sweet and unexpected surprise! Frank and Linda were available to answer any questions or facilitate any last minute needs that we had. Thank you for a wonderful trip. We will be back soon!

Me and my bride to be came here to fish for crappie and some R&R. Rained the whole weekend but that didn’t stop the fishing. This cabin is a great getaway and very unique in its furnishings.

As an executive, my wife is constantly under pressure, and in need of an escape to rejuvenate her spirit… And rejuvenation is just what we found at this charmingly beautiful cabin by the lake. As one might expect of an executive, we travel quite extensively. Often staying at the finest five star resorts and hotels… None of them holds a candle to the accommodations offered here. From the moment we crossed the threshold, it was as if entering a spa, with its charming, and impressively crafted decor, and aroma therapy filling our senses. Inside we found the owners had thought of, and provided every accommodation, comfy king sized bed, coffee maker (and all the fixings), microwave and toaster ovens, refrigerator, and matching massage recliners (complete with pillows and soft blankies). Also awaiting us inside were silver platters offering heavenly homemade cookies and muffins (To die for.). The fridge was stocked with beverages, as well as food for the following day’s breakfast. Through the French doors is a deck overlooking a flagstone patio, adorned with Adirondack chairs, table w/umbrella and an amazing fire pit/barbecue (and everything one needs to enjoy it). All of which is perfectly nestled into the forest, whose canopy surrounds you with beauty, and the menagerie of wildlife one wishes for. There were squirrels in every direction to entertain the eye, and the soul. Not to mention the chorus of countless birds and their symphony of song. We were especially fond of the many Cardinals, the ginormous woodpecker, the dozen or so, soaring hawks along the lakeshore, and the American Bald Eagle. Magnificent. Of course, beyond the patio and nearby deer feeder, lies the crystal clear waters of Lake O the Pines, just forty yards from the elevated back porch and its vistas.
Yet, as unbelievably perfect as all that was… the best part is the owners, Frank and Linda German. I have worked in the hospitality industry for many years. Even owning a successful catering company. So when I say, these wonderful folks are the finest hosts I’ve experienced in my many years of travel, it comes from a place of experience. Both bad a good. Frank and Linda are the nicest, most kind and attentive hosts one could possibly hope for. Which is to say, words cannot begin to describe the level of their high quality, personal service. If you are in need of a getaway to exhale and recharge your soul, you will find your second wind at the Second Wind.

A slice of heaven!
We celebrated a combined birthday and anniversary weekend. The cabin is delightful and it's filled with amazing handy work and art work by Frank and Linda. We didn't want for anything. The homemade goodies will melt in your mouth as it warms your heart. We caught fish, watched birds & saw deer. We experienced amazing sunsets, while also enjoying a wonderful spring rain that didn't dampen any of our plans. We cooked on the open fire pit, cooked on the grill and enjoyed morning coffee on the back deck. If you want to get away and experience a slice of heaven, then this is your place! Our expectations were far exceeded. We can't wait to get back! Frank and Linda are as wonderful as two can be.
