House is a duplex and the people next door do the laundry. They are smokers and the linens smell of cigarettes. This caused our allergies to go into overdrive and the host’s solution was to suggest that we spray with air freshener. The house reeked of marijuana, (host said it might have been from the previous guests) but the smell was continuous and nauseating. When we checked out she tried to blame us. We had the wrong code for the door and got locked out late at night and at the end of our stay she claimed that we didn’t get locked out and made it up. She tried to charge us for a broken chair that we didn’t use or even know about. Avoid this place if you can help it.

We never stayed because if we did we would be charged an additional $$$ for my 3 grandkids, who were in the original contract. The charges were added after the booking. Dawn has since changed her web page. We were in fear that she would call police if we stayed in property even though we prepaid. Don't book with Dawn

Very cute home. Perfect for our needs. Very comfy beds. And very responsive hosts

*This property needs to be removed from any site. It is inhabitable and Dawn exhibits aggressive behavior & illogical communication. *It's a duplex, not a house. 3 times Dawn wrote to "use the parking on the side of the house." That's b/c the front parking is for the other unit. *We were told the cigarette smoke came from the neighbors. Then we were told the neighbors weren't home - then told no one else complained about the smell. It's interesting that her ad reports being allergic to pets. Guess cigarettes are fine. *The code given was changed in communication three times. The back door code never worked. *Trash was spilling out in the yard from the very full trash can. When Dawn came over, she asked me twice, very aggressively, if the trash was bothering me. *Des Moines was going through a heat wave. The HVAC unit never turned on. The thermostat stayed at 80. Her comment was that it wasn't hot and that no one was sweating. She said it had been working earlier (same comment we received several times), but someone would be out the next day. She had to have known b/c the window units in the 2 upstairs bedrooms (not 3) were running full blast with a fan in the hallway. *As soon as we got in, my daughter went to use the one toilet upstairs. It wouldn't flush. When Dawn came over, she allowed a young man (without our permission) to go look. During this horrible exchange, when I asked Dawn not to interrupt me, she said I was disrespecting her and then left the unit saying it looked like I was under the influence. Deon told us that no one had complained and that it looks like someone had used the toilet. um, yes. That's what it meant to be done with a toilet. She said it would be fixed the next day, but again, it had been working earlier. If urinating in a commode ONE time causes it not to flush, my daughter has urine worthy of nuclear research. The chain had broken. In order to flush it, we had to manually lift the lever inside EVERY TIME. *An ant colony was living under the kitchen rag and inside the drain of the faucet. *When we checked in, a window had been left open. We were told to keep it closed. We never opened it. *I mentioned that a chair's leg was broken. She claimed she had already disclosed that. Literally no. *Her hair dryer was stolen from Hilton. *Holes in walls, furniture and carpet. *We left and came back to a smell of weed and a bag of condoms on one of the beds. *She said I had 7 people in the unit, I had 6.

Easy and great location with good restaurants within walking distance

My family & I enjoyed our stay immensely. The property was clean, spacious, and was decorated to the nines. The hosts really go the extra mile to make you feel welcomed & completely at home. We’d definitely stay again!!
