This property is awesome! Enjoyed coffee by the river in the am and a nice fire by the river at night. Lots of privacy and the hot tub is great after a long day of hiking. Bed was super comfortable. Would be good for larger groups too.

We booked 5 nights but left after 1, due to multiple issues. Door code didn’t work on arrival, host was quick to respond and get it fixed, but we fielded calls on the land line for someone from another property having trouble with their lock code also; it took a while to explain we weren’t the host and they needed to go through VRBO. A big reason we booked this property was the hot tub, and we were disappointed we couldn’t use it right away because it was only 75 degrees. The check out instructions posted around the house told guests to turn the hot tub down to 75 when leaving, which explains why it was so cold. The host said this was a typo. Hopefully they change the instructions, otherwise keep in mind you won’t be able to use the hot tub the day you arrive as it took overnight to heat up. The downstairs bath had a strong unpleasant odor. We tried cleaning the floor and spraying deodorizer, it was a bit better by morning, but made the bathroom feel unclean. Shower pressure was low and the water didn’t stay hot, it kept going cold/lukewarm in both the shower and sinks. This made it difficult when washing dishes (there is no dishwasher). King bed is very soft, we slept near the edges to avoid rolling into a valley in the middle. If you’re over 6 feet tall: ceilings are low, husband bumped his head on lights and had to duck to go through all doors. The last straw for us was when we were woken up twice in the middle of the night by loud digging noises in the closet. Host’s response: “most likely a field mouse. It is rustic cabin in the middle of the woods and there’s lots of wildlife, I really tried to convey that to my guests.” We felt the property title and description stressed “updated”, “new” and "fully stocked" rather than mentioning rustic elements like possible critter visits and handwashing dishes. It was a hard decision to move to another property since it meant paying double for those nights, but the next place turned out to be much cleaner and more comfortable. As the other reviews say, it does have some wonderful features: the upstairs living/bunk area is updated, the fireplace is great (you need to buy firewood, it’s not provided) and the outdoor space is lovely. If the issues listed above don’t bother you, then you may love it. If you’re used to modern and clean – this might not be a good fit.
