Award Winning Historical Cottage in Montford *2 Blocks to Downtown
About this house rental
Proud to be a Victorian, the Sallie Lee Cottage is an exquisite example of the architectural wonders of the late 1800s. Around 1880, Sallie Lee built a stick-style Victorian cottage on Ashland Avenue. In doing this, she became the first woman to own a home in Western North Carolina. The cornerstone of this beautiful home centers around the exterior architectural displays of lines, angles, and ornate grids. Furthermore, the interior is equally exceptional, centering around its unique triangular fireplace; which results a distinct Latin cross floor plan. The home boasts two bedrooms and one full bath. The Butterscotch Room has a fully functioning gas fireplace and access to the Mahogany Tea Room. The Tea Room is bathed in sunlight and offers access to the homes' two front porches! Enjoy a warm cup of tea relaxing in a vintange velvet chair. Lastly, the Terracotta Room has a full sized wardrobe which was built using the original flooring pulled from the home during the restoration process. Each bedroom has a brand new queen sized bed and plenty of natural light. The bathroom offers a full sized bathtub and shower, plush towels and essential toiletries, just in case! The cozy living room is inviting for great conversation centered around the gas fireplace. Shared with the dining space, the home also utilizes Google Home for anything and everything the internet has to offer. The unique floor plan continues in to the kitchen where you will find the cabinets completely stocked and ready for any chef! The property offers off-street parking with a private driveway and fits up to two vehicles. Additional parking avail

Our stay in the historic house in the Montfort area was so enjoyable. The location is perfect in a very friendly neighborhood and near everything. We would highly recommend it as a cozy getaway. Our host was so nice and accommodating and supplied us with everything we needed. A wonderful trip!

Charming, comfortable, convenient. This adorable property is convenient, clean, and wonderful. There is a nice cafe within easy walking distance. This historic home has been thoughtfully restored, and made for a memorable Ashville stay. We would love to come back!

House is really charming, cute, and cozy. Very safe and convenient. We were able to walk to and all over downtown. Barely had to use the car. We will definitely be back!

Great location but exterior patios/porches weren’t usable — dirty, not screened. Tv worked from time to time but was frequently not available. We purchased a bath mat to make the tub safer; my first guest fell but fortunately didn’t hurt herself.
The host was genial and accommodating, but I’m too old to appreciate much of this house’s rustic charm.

My daughter and I wanted to explore Asheville, both downtown and the region around Blue Ridge Parkway. The location of our stay was perfect, as we could walk to the bustle of town in 5 minutes, yet feel like we were ensconced in a sweet little neighborhood removed from it all. We could also drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway in about 10 minutes. The house itself is full of character, Victorian and interesting in all the right ways: it felt like a real respite while all the amenities we could hope for in the kitchen, bath, comfy beds, etc. The only issue was internet which sometimes got spotty on us. The hosts were wonderful, immediately responding to any questions we had along the way. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to the area.

We loved our stay in Asheville at the Sallie Lee Cottage. We stayed for the month of July and had a few visitors while we were there. The place is large enough for two couples and quite comfortable. It is a short walk to town and the neighborhood is lovely to walk around with historic houses and beautiful gardens.
The owners were so friendly and easy to work with - they had lots of great suggestions about local restaurants, etc.. and even helped us find a vet when our dog got sick during our visit.
We will definitely be back!
