Absolutely TERRIBLE host. Never responded to inquiries, did not send any check-in info. I had to end up just calling him about a date change request because he was no responding and he said he’d do it but never did and then denied we ever spoke to Vrbo customer support. He’s short tempered and rude. Just save yourself the trouble do not stay here. The host has no integrity. If you think Vrbo will help resolve your issue, they won’t. The company has no backbone; all they do is side with the host even though your issue is so clear and obviously the hosts fault. I would give 0 stars if I could. The location is definitely not worth it.
Also he has an infestation!!!!!! How gross.

We were travelling from out of country and so, we did not have immediate means of communication with the host upon our arrival in the USA. Being proactive, I asked the host to provide us with check-in instructions before leaving my home country. No response. I asked once again once I landed at the airport from which I would take a connecting flight to Miami. Still nothing. I asked again once we landed in Miami around noon time using the Wifi and specifying that I would not necessarily have means of communication later. The host told me I would be getting instructions closer to check-in time, which was 4pm. around 3:30pm, I went to a local coffee shop with all my luggage to get wifi in hopes that my check-in instructions would be provided. Nothing. I messaged the host around 3 more times. Still nothing. At this point, my partner and I were fairly certain that the host would never respond and we started looking to find somewhere else to stay, and take up the refund with Vrbo later. Finally, at around 4:20pm, I get check in instructions. At this point I'm furious with the host but at least I have somewhere to stay. We make our way to the apartment and notice the front door is ajar. I tried closing it but it seemed it was permanently this way. Not great for safety concerns but I didn't think much of it, specially given the fact that absolutely nothing was mentioned about the front door in my check-in instructions. All I wanted was to go in and relax after the infuriating start to my vacation. We go inside, and we notice the wifi isn't working. As one can clearly tell from the above, wifi is the only way for us to communicate with our host or anyone else for international travelers, and so, one more very annoying aspect of this trip. In an effort to move past it, we go out to eat and enjoy a wonderful meal. We then walk back to the apartment to find that the front door does in fact close, and that we were not provided a key to open it. Given that the wifi didn't work, we were not stuck outside of our rented apartment with no way of reaching the host, other than to pay for roaming charges on my cellphone. This is what I had to resort to. The host told me there was a hidden key and that his last guest drove off with the guest key. If you read the reviews, he said the same to two other guests in March and April. When we asked for the parking pass, again, a guest had taken off with it. Again, he had said the same thing to another guest in early April.

The apartment was in a good location and price wasn’t bad for south beach BUT it is INFESTED with cockroaches. They are EVERYWHERE! Bed may have bed bugs because I had bite marks all over my feet and so did my bf. The listing says parking is included but it’s parking for residents only.

It was clean, needed a few things up graded. The air conditioner filter needed changed. It could use a dresser and some extra shelves in the bathroom. We loved the location from beach, shops and restaurants. Was just a short drive to downtown and to go to some excursions.

PROS: Good location in South Beach; Roomy Apartment; A/C worked; Big TV; low-ish price.
CONS: Big con is despite what the add offers there is no parking. The area is a tow away zone for non-residents every night. Despite repeated requests for special 24-hour pass (the owner can get these as a resident) we got no parking pass. Markese said the last tenant drove off with it. THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS! The owner gets a tag for their vehicle and then can print out 11 passes a month for guests. I feel deceived that we thought we were getting parking, but did not. DO NOT believe that it is safe to park on the street as a non-resident without a permit. We saw a car getting towed. We had to pay $50 to garage the car and it was a 20 minute walk away with no in and out privileges. This was a huge con for me. Other problems: we saw a couple roaches. The pillows are super thin. The second means of egress (required for apartments in case of fire) is padlocked shut! There is a camera recording you every time you come to the door. The check-in process required nudging to get the information. There was no front door key. The door is always ajar - until it wasn't one night. Took half an hour of calling his sister and then finally getting Markese to send us a video of the location of the hidden key. Again...ahem, the last guest walked off with the front door key. The location is good and the price is low for the area - but know what you are getting in to.

We really enjoyed our stay! Everything was within walking distance on South Beach. We will GLADLY book again! Host was very nice and responded quickly!

Cannot recommend this stay.
PROS
-Location is very good for South Beach. Walking distance to a lot of great things.
-Host was responsive whenever I had issues (there were several)
CONS
-I had to reach out to the owner multiple times for basic things. I didn't receive any information about stuff like address, wi-fi, towels, etc until I was literally on my way there and called him.
-The place feels like you're in the Witness Protection Program. Very sparse, bare minimum done to make it feel like a "home"—clearly no one lives here when it's not rented out on VRBO.
-The main door to the building is usually left open. The host said usually there's a key there, but it was gone and I had to go through a song and dance to find the extra key to make sure we wouldn't be locked out of the building when we went out.
-One of the windows is broken and permanently ajar, so you have to sleep with the sometimes-noisy street sounds outside. There was a lot of tape on the window in an attempt to fix the problem, so clearly this is an ongoing issue.
-THE WORST PROBLEM: Infestation. There were numerous cockroaches, which honestly we weren't pleased with but we dealt with it. We made sure to put all our food away and didn't dare put anything in the cabinets. But on the morning of our checkout, my girlfriend woke up with tons of bites on her ankle and torso and after scouring the sheets we found FLEAS. I don't think I can post a picture here, but we got photo and video evidence and it is 100% fleas.
VRBO did not offer help on this, as apparently it's a "minor issue", and so I am in the process of attempting to get ahold of the owner (have not spoken to him yet since this happened).

The location was perfect!!! Fee blocks away form the beach, night life and great restaurants!! The place is in okay/good conditions. Our only concern in the stay was the kitchen area and the bathroom. They do seem a little outdated but workable. We did notice a few bugs throughout our stay, which we tried to control and did notify the host right away. Overall, It didnt really bother me but we tried to be ontop of our food and bathroom area so they wouldnt get into our things. Overall, I enjoyed my stay!
