About this cabin rental

Lake Front Cabins sits just south of June Lake itself, nestled in the towering view of Carson Peak, walking distance to downtown June Lake (lovingly dubbed the “Switzerland of California”), and one short scenic drive away from Yosemite’s gates (open seasonally from late May/June until November). With true mountain town roots stretching back over the property’s 100 years of continuous operation, our boutique, motel-meets-cabin-style hotel feels equal parts vintage summer cabin and modern outdoors basecamp. Between bluebird skies, winter powder days, backcountry access, basin and range expanses, friendly folks, and some of the best trout fishing in California (nay, the world!), there’s only one way to experience the Eastern Sierra: right out your front door. *Please note that The Loop Cabin is a freestanding cabin at our boutique hotel, not a single-family home-style cabin. The Loop Cabin is a private, standalone cabin equipped with two bedrooms (1 queen, 2 twin beds), living room (with a sofa bed that can sleep 2 more guests), 3/4 bath consists of shower, toilet & sink, compact (yet fully equipped) kitchenette, and dining space. The cabin is adjacent to the motel-style units on the property. Enjoy a communal courtyard perfect for exchanging trail stories over a bonfire and BBQ meal (gas or charcoal, dealer’s choice). Give us a holler any time with questions about trip planning, area recommendations, or anything you may need during your stay. Beyond that, we give you the space to enjoy your cabin and the surrounding nature in peace. We're just a stone’s throw from downtown June Lake’s shops and restaurants, with easy access to the June Lake Loop, June Lake and Gull Lake, June Mountain, the Owens River Valley, Reversed Peak, Carson Peak, and beyond. Also in the neighborhood, you’ll find: Yosemite National Park (Eastern entrance): 30 minutes Mammoth & Mammoth Mountain: 35 minutes Devils Postpile National Monument: 55 minutes Mono Lake: 20 minutes Wild Willy’s Hot Springs: 35 minutes Given June Lake’s remote location, we encourage guests to reach us by car (and remember to bring those snow chains and roadside emergency supplies for the ride up!). Many of our guests enjoy walking downtown (a stone’s throw from the property) or riding bikes around the area. Before you book, read on to learn about a couple of property quirks to make sure we’re the right fit for your outdoor adventure: While we’re just over 500 feet from the edge of June Lake, we do not have beach or lakefront access despite what our name suggests (we're new owners in the process of renaming the property). We’re separated by a buffer zone that’s operated by the National Forest, which means it’s public land and yours to traverse, though it’s typically marshy or snowy depending on the season. When we say "historic,” we mean historic. Our digs stretch back a century, and sometimes, our “old-school” shows--winter nights can get chilly, and you may see an occasional four-to-eight-legged friend around the property or grounds. We like to think of ourselves as an extension of the greater Eastern Sierra ecosystem, so it’s all part of the fun. While we do offer WiFi, the speed of our Internet *may* take twenty years off your life (although we promise the restorative power of nature will put those years right back on). While we can assure you we’ve spent countless hours with every single ISP in the area and offer up the best we possibly can, don’t expect to Zoom into meetings or (or much of anything, internet-wise) while you enjoy your stay in the great outdoors. For the safety of our guests, we maintain outdoor security cameras to monitor wildlife visits, fire risk, hazardous elements, and other safety protocols. Tioga Pass closes seasonally from mid-November through mid-May, during which time the only access to June Lake from the western Sierras is through the I-80 pass around Lake Tahoe or south of the Sierras near Los Angeles. You’ll want to build in extra driving time for fall, winter, and spring visits. Occasionally, Highways 395 (North-South route from LA to Reno) and 158 (June Lake Loop) will close due to heavy snowfall. During winter, please be advised to carry snow chains in your vehicle to comply with CalTrans chain requirements and potential inclement weather. Fire season typically falls between summer and early fall in the area, so air quality may be unhealthy during this time, particularly among sensitive groups. We hope you enjoy this neck of the woods as much as we do. Welcome to June Lake! To respect our community, fellow guests, and neighbors (plant and animal neighbors included!), we ask that our guests agree to a few house rules during their stay. Give us a holler with any policy questions or concerns you may have! Pets: Our pet fee is $20 per dog per night (for up to the first 3 nights, then after your third night, dogs stay free!). We can accommodate a maximum of two dogs (and dogs only at this time), but get in touch with us if you have a special circumstance. Let us know if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along, and we’ll share our full policy. Leave No Trace: Respecting public lands and waters, Native and local communities, and our property is important to us. Please leave what you find and dispose of waste properly. Quiet Hours: Quiet hours begin at 10 PM and end the following morning at 8 AM. Garbage and Food Storage: Please secure the bear-proof dumpster hook (located in the back lot) and secure your trash and food items to prevent wildlife break-ins. June Lake is active bear habitat, and every time a bear gets into the trash, it puts both your life and the bear's life in danger. Fire Safety: June Lake is a region extremely susceptible to wildfires. To prevent catastrophic fires, injury, property damage, and strain on the June Lake Fire Department, we have a few rules: No fireworks on the grounds, observe local fire bans before turning on the communal fire pits, do not leave the fire pit unattended, turn off the fire pits and grills after use, and obtain fire permits for any bonfires created on surrounding public lands. Extra Guests: We don’t permit any guests beyond 6 people. If you plan to invite non-guests on site for any reason, please have your plans pre-approved with a member of our team. Events: At this time, we don’t allow guest events (such as weddings, parties, and so forth) on property. We’re happy, however, to book your larger-sized group in multiple coinciding rooms as long as you maintain respect and capacity numbers in each unit, keep noise levels to a minimum, and respectfully share communal spaces with guests outside your party. Smoking: All of our units are non-smoking, but if guests need to smoke, we ask that they abide by a few rules. If you're a smoker, before lighting up, please get in touch with us for our policies covering where to smoke, cleanup, and violations. Early Check-In and Late Check-Out: At this time we’re unable to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs, but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have a unique situation. Cancellation: Please contact us for more information on cancellation policies and refunds.

We had a great 4-night stay in Lake Front Cabins. The location of the cabins can't be beat and the living area was nice and spacious. We would definitely consider coming back to stay here next time.

Very nice and great location. The only knock and I mean the only knock was no AC or any fans to cool it down. Normally you don't really need it up there. But this time was an exception. we would definitely stay again.

This was a great home away from home. It's a comfortable, simple, cozy cabin with all the amenities of home. It was a big plus that we could bring our dog who also enjoyed this trip. Great location as well.
