A two bedroom two bath cottage freshly renovated with thoughtful touches and high end finishes. Close to Mirror Lake and the charming Main Street, Spotted Owl offers you the getaway to the best of all worlds! This cottage is equipped with a convenient ground floor full bath and downstairs 1 King bedroom and a twin bedroom which share a hallway bath.. The kitchen is completely equipped and detailed for any level of cooking you may desire! *******This home has stairs to the 2 bedrooms and bath on the lower level. While a handrail and lighting are provided for safety, this may not be an appropriate home for guests with mobility issues or other physical limitations. Enjoy your porch while sipping your evening beverage of choice, watching the sun set over the western North Carolina mountain plateau, enjoying a very peaceful setting and sounds of nature all around. With the proximity of town, you can stroll home after your evening of dining, the theater, or enjoying the music at the park! Highlands Greenway Oak Lane Trail entrance is just about 200 feet if you go out the front door to the left. Look for the stone steps. The property is exactly as pictured. We enjoyed walking around the town and neighborhood. The TV doesn't subscribe to all of the apps that are pictured on it. Other than that it was a great stay!

Perfect little getaway for my husband and I with our 6 week old baby. Great proximity to town but still quiet and tucked away. Will definitely be back!

Great location. Loved being in town but also in the woods. Fit our small family well. Had everything we needed. The door at the top of the stairs locks so we were able to let our toddler walk around without worrying about him falling down the stair, which was great!

This was the perfect place for our family to stay. The updates made to the cabin were really nice and made for a very comfortable stay. The proximity to downtown made for an easy walk. We will definitely be booking again in the future!

We absolutely LOVED this property! The cabin is pristinely clean - and beautifully decorated. The back porches look over a forest and it’s just a wonderful feeling of seclusion yet within walking distance to everything in the heart of Highlands.

The property location is super convenient and very nice.
There was an issue with the access code to enter the property and we were unable to reach the property manager immediately. Due to a tight schedule we had, we were anxious that there might be an issue with the booking, but Holly called us back within 15 minutes and we were able to get in. She explained she was out of cell service when we first called. We highly recommend this property.

Overall we had a great experience at the Spotted Owl. Cozy, romantic, great location and view. Very clean and updated. Responsive management company. A few areas for improvement: could use a larger tv, ice maker or ice trays, more cookware, softer pillows and softer king mattress. For a great hike, Glen Falls has beautiful views and is only a seven minute drive from the house.

The cabin has been nicely remodeled with vinyl plank flooring, wood paneling, appliances and farm sink. The linens are nice and towels fluffy. The bedrooms are downstairs (as now noted in the description-wasn’t the case when we rented) and the stairs are narrow and steep. There is no comfortable seating in the LR….one wingback chair, one cain back, a sofa and a very small side table. There were no ottomans, foot rests or coffee table. If you are looking for a place close to town to sleep, and will be outside most of the time, it’s a place to stay. We were there in February and found it too uncomfortable to spend our days inside - we left after the first night.

We came for a wedding that was held at the farm at Old Edwards Inn, and this was the perfect location without the Old Edwards price tag. Very clean, updated and quaint. Super easy getting downtown and back.

Adorable cabin with all updated interiors sits just ba block off Main Street. This was perfect for our family of four. Great spot for active folks who will be spending most of their time out and about. Very comfortable bedding with high quality linens and the kitchen has all brand new appliances. Huge outdoor screen porches. We will definitely be back!

This cabin has been recently updated and is within a 10-minute walk of everything in downtown. Upstairs, it has a great kitchen with an induction stove, a large seating area, a wood burning fireplace, a full bath, and a deck with gas grill. Downstairs are two bedrooms, each with deck access, and a full bath along with washer & dryer. Very clean and cozy!

We enjoyed our stay at the Spotted Owl. It was too cold to walk to town and it appeared the walk was through a wooded area. We thought the listing said the bedrooms were on separate floors. Both bedrooms and one of the bathrooms were downstairs. The stairs are steep but manageable. I would not advise the house for anyone with breathing issues. Overall, it was a really nice house, beds we’re comfortable, internet service was good and we had a smart tv with Riki.

What a great location and adorable cottage!
We actually think the pics of the cabin don't do it justice. It was beautifully decorated and furnished with gorgeous back porches, which is where we spent the most time while we were there. Nearby waterfalls and hiking trails were our goal but we also enjoyed the beautiful greenest trail into town which starts about a block from the cabin. And the proximity to The Bascom was a great perk.

We will be back! This sweet cabin checked all the boxes - clean, great design, well furnished, close proximity to downtown (we walked and drove), quiet neighborhood, great amenities and beautiful views of nature from the double-decker porches. There’s even a picturesque covered bridge and Visual Art center as you enter the neighborhood where live music played on Saturday. They offered firewood for the fireplace (which we happily used), old-school board games and puzzles, and plenty of work-do for working remotely as needed. Can’t say enough!

They offered firewood for the fireplace (which we happily used), old-school board games and puzzles, and plenty of work-do for working remotely as needed. Can’t say enough!

Great Little Cabin
The cabin was adorable albeit very small. The only thing that prevented me from leaving 5 stars is that one of the neighbors filed a noise complaint and we were using a tiny portable speaker which could not have been loud. I think it's politics in Highlands - and those against STR.
