NO RUNNING WATER! not for hand washing, flushing poop down the toilet or showers

First of all, THE STAFF! They are amazing! They are very friendly, very helpful and very attentive. They make you feel home. You can join them for cooking, eating, chatting, hanging around, etc.
Secondly, THE LOCATION! It is on the best street of the town, which is the heart of the town too.
About general things, over all it is clean ( Abel, remember to take a break sometimes of cleaning😉) and spacious and has everything you would need in the kitchen. The owner Davi continuously improves the bostel by renovating and changing furnitures, decorations, etc
Actually nothing really l can say l didnt like or would want to change because they are already doing their best.

Excellent ambience and location.

Great location. I will say it was difficult to find, if you use map app it says the location is much farther before the hostel, which could be easily missed since it’s sort of a small door that leads to hostel upstairs (which is really neat to have view over street!) more detailed instructions from the hostel would be nice such as nearby businesses/restaurants or under colored flags. There is a hostel cat that meow chatted a lot of the night, if you’re a light sleeper:) would definitely stay there again!

Good hostel with very nice staff. Very pleasant vibe. Staff offered good references and advice, and as a bous, I was able to hang out with them. Chitchen is well equipped and can be used if you wanna save some money on food. Laundaring is available. Hostel has good location. If you need to cut your hair, i recommend a barber that works at the same hostel.
there was some problem with hot water, but it looks like it was a temporary issue and will be fixed soon.

bathrooms are shared so they get a bit messy, not too bad but not super comfortable

Location on main strip was great. It was fun to sit outside on hammock and people watch below. Kitchen was well equipped.
The dorm was slightly cramped. Shower wasn't the cleanest.

The location is great, right in the center of art district so walking distance to most of the things to do and places to eat. The staff are very friendly and willing to help you. Felt like a great place for a short or long stay.

Perfect location in San Jose, close to the center and the art walk, all of the great restaurants, the fair, the gym, pretty much anything you could need.
The staff is very friendly and kind. they all made me feel very welcome, and were receptive to any questions or concerns I had.
The only reason I didn’t give the hostel a 10/10 really isn’t even their fault - the noise. With the location being so central, you can often hear music from surrounding bars or restaurants in the evening, especially on weekends. Not a big deal, just bring a pair of ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating. After a small reservation mixup, the staff went above and beyond to make sure my girlfriend and I had a room to ourselves for valentine's day after not seeing eachother for a month.

There was no water to shower, use the toilet, brush our teeth, etc. When we asked a person from the place about the water, they said it happens often and didn't even offer a solution, just shrugged his shoulder. The people in charge didn't even mention that this could happen. If this happens often one would think they would have a back up solution, specially when your place is fully booked.

proximity to overpriced shops with all the same merchandise
dirty couches to sit on. uncomfortable beds cramped dorm rooms. flooring with loose tiles only one of 3 showers with hot water

Great vibe. Friendly staff. Great location. Always had staff member present and visible.
Overall no real complaints. Water went out one day for 12 hours, but staff was very considerate about it all.

the layout. the common area was so open with nice windows lots of fresh air coming thru. nice kitchen and comfy bed. the view was amazing from the balcony. the hammocks was the cherry on top 😁
that I couldn’t stay long enough to enjoy it more

Perfect location, in the middle of town, next to the main square, restaurants and shops.
The room was cute and nicely decorated.
There was one bathroom that was supposed to have a shower with hot water. However, I never got it.
Out of the two bathroom sinks, one wasn't working so I ended up brushing my teeth in the kitchen.
The WIFI was really weak, barely reaching my room although it was next to the common area.
In my opinion, these are things that should work and be available when you pay a room USD 70/night.
