It is a lovely hotel in a good spot for the town centre. The only slight issue is the windows are very thin, noise was minimal but there was some early morning road noise.
5.0
Friendly and helpful staff across the board. Comfortable beds and lovely views from the room if you're in the west-facing side. Ideal location for exploring the town and five minutes walk down to the riverside path.

Great hotel for relaxing. Staff & service are absolutely first rate - all so friendly and helpful.
Food is excellent and reasonably priced.
Highly recommended.

We only stayed one night but thoroughly enjoyed staying in an old hotel with character but one that is obviously well cared for. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and breakfast was fantastic. Don't be fooled by the fact that this is badged as a brewery hotel - it doesn't feel like a chain and all customers are treated on a personal level. We'll be back.

An old coaching inn above the river in Ross on Wye. Pleasant room, friendly staff. good breakfasts. Creaky floors are only to be expected in a building of its age and yes, they were! The only criticism that I have is WHY do they feel it appropriate to play rap "music" through the dining rooom at breakfast time?? - that was truly awful.

Nothing special, but would stay again. Its ok.

It was a decent enough room for the price. The breakfast was good and the staff were excellent.

The staff were nice and extremely helpful, Food was a little let down as I have got better within the Greene King hotel group, However was more than acceptable. My only criticism was the hotel was a tried in places mostly the carpet in the room and the tiles in the bathroom. Would be happy to stay again.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Great views from the hotel over the River Wye. It is within walking distance of the town and the river.

Great location, parking awkward and limited, property rather tired in places, needs a a refurb. Breakfast (full English especially) was poor value for money. Beer prices were eye wateringly expensive! Fantastic view from the terrace.

My wife and enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel, staff are really friendly helpful and polite, and the food was excellent, car park is not that spacious. You can only say you’ve stayed at the Royal once you’ve meet Carol.

Fabulous hotel at the top of the town ,great location and a lovely view from our room a basic double with plentry of space and a good sized bathroom. On the down side the bed matress was too soft and the mugs were very tiny

Central to the town, convenient location.

Not good. Breakfast not included in booking. On 3rd floor in annex very very difficult to climb stairs had to cut short break by one night. Impossible to get evening meal due to tables reserved for hours. Told restaurent closed due to heating problems. All in all terrible experience . I am 78 and my wife 84.

Largely our stay was what we expected - a standard hotel in a good location.
Check in was straight forward and friendly enough.
Our room was large but needed updating. The paintwork was cracking and wallpapered ceilings were starting to peel. We were on the top floor and the water pressure was poor. In addition, the shower hose had split and so the shower was a trickle. As we were only staying 1 night and only discovered the issue having settled into our room we took the decision to take baths instead. We mentioned the shower issue on departure and the response was a passing apology and that the room would be taken out of action until the issue was resolved.
The beds were not particularly comfortable and while clean there was a rip in the bedlinen. The duvet was a non-breathable material meaning it quickly became hot. I usually sleep well but unfortunately spent the night tossing and turning.
The breakfast was excellent, although once seated, we waited over 20 minutes for a waitress to take our hot food order. There were barely any other tables seated so I think we had been forgotten.
The hotels location is excellent, within walking distance of the town and river.
I would stay at the hotel again if I needed to be in the centre of the town but for better comfort and value I would chose a Premier Inn.

We went with 6 of us in total, rooms were beautiful with views over the country side and the river. We had a room over the bar and must admit there was no noise which was amazing. We had food in the hotel bar for the 2 nights, plenty of it, food was very good staff couldn't do enough for you. One thing you need to book for bar food as it is very busy.

The staff were amazing and very friendly. The room as spacious and comfortable. Bathroom a little small but adequate.
Location great and handy for the town.
Eat somewhere else though , the food is poor to mediocre. Breakfast fruit and yoghurt was great but nothing cooked was of good quality. Avocado on toast tasted like mushy peas. Nachos were disgusting and risotto was a mushy rice dish.

Beautiful building. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely return. The breakfast room staff were incredibly professional, curteous, polite and helpful. The breakfast was great. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. There was ample free parking.

Nice enough hotel with a friendly welcome and a clean room with a comfy bed, the decor is a bit dated in places and the rooms would benefit from redecorating but overall good value for money and situated in probably the best location in Ross on Wye. Unfortunately The Wi-Fi connection is via Sky and was impossible to log on to, they really need to sort this out, I didn’t bother reception with it as we were only there for a night but it was disappointing that something which ought to be so very simple is made awkward in the biggest hotel in the area when everywhere else I’ve stayed in the last ten years can manage to provide working broadband without any faffing about. Overall though a very pleasant stay with nice professional staff and we would all gladly return.

Really Squeaky floorboards in room.
There was an altercation in the bar which the police were called to. Staff remained calm and professional but not pleasant to witness

Lovely property with a fantastic view from the restaurant and outdoor terrace. Had a room with a view over the Wye River and valley which was lovely. Parking was easy and accessible from the rear of the property. The only downside was that the rooms did not have air conditioning and were quite hot.

The location is beautiful. Ross-on-Wye and its surrounding is well worth visiting.
My one disappointment was that the wi-fi didn't work in the room. We chose this hotel specifically because it had wi-fi. We had a lot of work to do while staying there, but the wi-fi only worked on occasion. When we called the reception to ask about it their suggestion was to just keep trying. We kept trying but it would come back from a couple of minutes and then go out again. As far as we were concerned this was as good as not having any wi-fi.

It’s lovely and clean, in a wonderful location. Had a lovely stay.

Nice hotel & location
Mattress worn out and could feel springs
Breakfast not good choice and expensive

Super comfy bed in a room with a fabulous view. Extremely friendly, professional and helpful staff. Parking a little difficult as car park small with narrow spaces but there is free on road parking directly opposite the hotel. A thoroughly enjoyable one night stay and would happily return.

Fabulous stay everywhere was lovely and clean. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Would recommend to friends.
