Gorgeous location right on the lagoon which has many fish species that are rarely seen. Loved the snorkeling!
Our 2 bedroom apartment did not have ac in the rooms, just the corridor- my friend slept in the living room.
Also Wi-Fi has to be purchased but I think that’s true of all hotels in the Cooks.
Nice food and great views!!
I’d recommend this hotel

The front of house staff made our family holiday exceed all expectations. By the end of the trip, it felt like a few of the staff were practically family. Meli, Aisake, and Aquila were excellent with our children and made them feel right at home. 10/10 would recommend

The breakfast was poor, no hot food and 28$ for cereal and toast canned fruit and pastries that we barely saw as they went first. I would expect
Hot breakfast for that price.

Beach was great. Food in hotel is below mediocre. Breakfast that its included with stay the worst. I ended up trying different "paid" options.

Loved our stay here, met some friendly staff who became family. Room service was perfect and everything we asked and expected. Definitely return to stay here.

The best part of the stay was the interaction with the hotel's staff. They were all very friendly, hospitable and were willing to do whatever it took to make your stay enjoyable. Even while catching the bus with them after they had finished their workday was fun.

Really loved the outdoor facilities for children and the amazing menu for both adults and children. The fish as you look over the balcony was a highlight! The staff were wonderful.

I loved the access to the beach.

Amazing friendly staff, super helpful to organize anything you wanted to do during your stay. Rooms were spacious, and kept cool which we were super thankful for on hotter days! All round 10/10 and would definitely come back.

Average food and buffet, expensive drinks and food. Poor quality rooms and resort. Cockroaches in our room

Amazing for families! We took our 14yo and 5yo and they both enjoyed the facilities and activities available at the resort. Great location.

Excellent snorkelling and all the kit easily available to hire out for free. Varied activities suitable for wide age range of kids and nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff were super helpful in arranging taxis and restaurant bookings and they put on a shuttle for the night market which was a plus. Would definitely recommend and hopefully will be back!

Our family enjoyed our holiday, waiting for our dinner was way to long, nearly 2hrs before it came. And some dishes were not very nice at all. The pizzas were the only nicest. The breakfast could've had more options, like some bake beans or spaghetti.
We were on beachside and fridge could've been bigger or even up high as it was way to low.

We really enjoyed the number of things to do at the Resort as well as the adjacent property Sanctuary! Great beach and staff!

I was disappointed that my beachside room was actually garden view. There was a sandy area off of the patio, not the ocean. We had to walk through beach front rooms and villas to reach the ocean. The staff was wonderful and the grounds were well maintained.

Pros:
The staff were welcoming, helpful (especially housekeeping) and friendly.
I enjoyed my stay and the facilities.
Cons:
On the cocktail menu a Happy Hour is advertised for all cocktails except the big blue one. In fact it is a totally different cocktail menu :-( false advertising.
Poor communication before our stay.

Fantastic rooms - beachside suite, the resort had options for things to do even in the rain, Which it rainfed a lot. Fantastic snorkelling just off the beach. Lovely staff members and some good menu options for all day dining.

The resort overall is awesome, staff are friendly, helpful and fun. Facilities are good and the location is awesome.
But the rooms are very dated and lots of things broken or missing. In desperate need of an update.

Although the other reviews are true about the staff keeping to themselves, breakfast being basic and the place needing an upgrade or refurbishment, the lagoon makes all of this worth it.
With 2 teens, we don’t spend that much time in our room.
It’s comfortable and had everything we needed.
We spent most of our time in the water or on the beach.
If you’re coming from the direct flight at 9.30pm from Sydney, be prepared for a tiring journey.
Check in is not guaranteed until 3pm.
If you want access to your room and breakfast coming off the 7am arrival into RAR, I recommend you book the night before.
We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed our first trip to the Cook Islands.

The location is fantastic as this is the best place for snorkelling but I am very disappointed with the resort. Staff were average(some were friendly but most were not), food was average and only half the menu was available for most of the time (they often ran out of chicken or eggs- for breakfast).
The breakfast was ok with a range of fruit, pancakes and croissants and different juices. The music at breakfast was mainly Celine Dion blasting out of speakers so staff could sing and dance to it. Most guests moved away and outside to eat in a quiet space.
There were empty plates and glasses all around the resort for days as nobody picked anything up and when we tried to make use of the two tennis courts they weren’t available for days as they’ve just been ‘sprayed’.
I asked for a quiet room but was located right in front of the staircase where everyone walks past at 2am and 6am. Parties in room opposite until 3am. I had to call security twice.
All in all it was an ok place to stay but keep your expectations low. It’s a 3 star resort at best.

Upon arrival, there was a guide to help us to our room. He did not offer to help with luggage or even offer us the luggage cart. It had rained and we had to walk in the dark through deep puddles where clothes at the bottom of our suitcase ended up being wet.
Rooms are dark and in need of a major renovation. Not what we had expected, but it was only for one night, so no harm done.

Great spot for sea access, and beautiful fish.
Not overly accommodating and quite expensive for what it was. Breakfast was average.

We really love the snorkeling at the beach which next to the hotel. When you are dining, kids can can play at the beck or the sand next to it.
Kids club activities are brilliant, very culturally designed and very educational. Disey is one of stuff who i connect very closely, she is very helpful and vey patient to teach all the waving, dance, hat making ect. Love to come back again and recommend to other family and friends!

The place has the best snorkelling out of the whole island right at your doorstep. The food is not cheap and you will be paying the exact same prices if not more for food and drink as back in New Zealand. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The place could do with an update but we thought it was priced reasonable and a great location for snorkelling and water sports. Don’t expect great wifi speeds but ok for general browsing. This is a perfect place to bring young kids not so much teenagers as they will be board fairly quickly. We would definitely recommend the Rarotonga to young family’s older couples

Get a beachside villa. Lagoon is more tempting than the pools.

Property was clean, service was poor, really slow and the food was meh. Needs a spruce up and menu shake up.

Overall my experience was positive, the room had excellent -air conditioning, room size, bed was comfortable and room location in the complex was wonderful. Not so great features were ants everywhere, the window in the bathroom had a broken window latch so you could hear everything and its looks directly into the shower, i paid premiums room cost but the some elements of the room is run down and old.
We attended a wedding which was held at the resort and the wedding planner( resort provided) was fairly average, she was rude to another guest who simply asked basic questions and she wasnt very receptive, the staff helping during the wedding had no clue around certain elements, for example was the water free. The bar tab we were told had $200 left and when we came back from fire dancing it was completely used. There were only 20ish guests, many of whom dont drink. Those of us drinking all had 2 or 3 each and then we are told tab of 1000 was done. It just wasnt possible. Overall i would NOT recommend to hold a wedding at the resort.

The property has everything you need especially for children. I wouldn’t even book any other tours on the island there is so much to do at the resort. The staff are very friendly
