We stayed at this property August 18th-20th and had an early 8am check in. The lady at the front desk that checked us in was soooo nice, I wish I could've packed her up and take her with me lol. The sad part is I didn't get her name because we were tired from traveling ;( nonetheless, we are traveling back again to freeport in January and hope to see her again. Ps Heineken in the morning does the trick :D

Super quiet safe people are very friendly, specially the manager I love her 😍 she is so beautiful and very well spoken with me and my husband, the lady at the lobby super friendly and very nice 😊 I will definitely go back, and recommend to families and friends.

WiFi is not reliable at all, I was there for work and paid for the internet, but it was very weak

quiet and relaxing. The island is still recovering from the hurricane in 2019 and then from the last year of Covid so activities are pretty limited. We spent t most of the time at the beach in in the clean pools. staff very helpful but as everything on island it is Bahama time which is very slow. It may just have been me because I am use to very fast pace living in Los Angeles. This is our 10 stay at this resort and cannot wait to return.

Great location - a quick taxi from the airport. Facilities include cars and bicycles for rent. BOTH shopping and beach are a quick bike ride away.
I stay here for easy access to Grand Bahama SCUBA. Fred and Melinda are excellent instructors and technical divers. I brought my two daughters here for their first 'blue water' diving experience.

I stayed at ocean reef alone on biz trip. Rooms spacious. Telephone and internet very inconsistent. Great if getting away with family - a problem if you need to stay connected.

This hotel is not even close to what is being advertised online. The architecture is poor, outdated buildings and clearly a low level rate 1 hotel.

We stayed one night in October 2013. Check in is at 4. We arrived at 4:45, and there was no office staff. We were checked in by the security guard. The restaurant was closed for renovations, however there was a wonderful waterfront kiosk, called Elsies, where Elsie herself cooks up a great meal. The unit was clean and recently upgraded. Ground floor units have a nice walkout patio overlooking the wharf and yachts docked there. There is no beach. Overall a very nice place to stay.

Ocean Reef Resort and Yacht Club was a pleasant surprise. I was reluctant to stay there after seeing the online picture of the property and because I had only stayed in ocean front hotels in Lucaya on previous visits. It was a nice well kept property and we were given a 2 bedroom corner apartment that was very comfortable and clean. It had a fully stocked kitchen and the king size bed was very comfortable. We also had a patio furnished with table, chairs and chaises that was really nice to sit on in the early mornings and evenings. The apartment even had a massage chair. The staff was very attentive. We really enjoyed the met and greet that was held on Monday, there was a buffet and plenty of music. The pool was very nice too. The restaurant on the premises had good food, I really enjoyed the cracked conch and french fries. We traveled around the island with the help of our taxi driver, Haywood. If you leave the property you will need a taxi, I highly recommend him. He told us about the Banana Bay Beach, a must see. You can contact him through the office staff, they have his number on file. We enjoyed our stay at Ocean Reef Resort and Yacht Club and met some awesome people.

We couldnt get into the hotel grounds because the gate was closed and the office manager was gone. We finally jumped the gate and found the hotel manager at the bar so he checked us in. We had no hot water, a bit of a bug issue in the room, and had issues with the housekeeping lady seemingly going through our stuff.. I dont leave negative feedback generally, but I wouldnt do this place.

I can't say there was a lot to do. The resort is not located on the beach and they didn't have many resort sponsored activities. But since I was going for R & R and not Fun int the Sun it all worked for me,

The ocean reef was everything we could have asked for. This was only my second visit to the Bahamas and my companion's first. The Ocean Reef staff made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped out of the cab. The staff is helpful and friendly. We had a one bedroom apartment that was roomy and well appointed looking out over the channel. My companion participated in the Introduction to Scuba class offered by Fred and Melinda at Grand Bahama Scuba, located right there at the hotel. This was a diving trip for me and I chose the Ocean Reef because of Grand Bahama Scuba being located there. If you want to go diving while you're on Grand Bahama, look them up.
We walked to the beach and the Lucaya marketplace. If you don't like to walk, and don't want to pay the price of a taxi, they have a daily beach shuttle and the buses can get you just about anywhere for a very reasonable price.
The Ocean Reef also has a free shuttle that will take you to the grocery.
I think the staff makes the hotel, and the Ocean Reef has an excellent staff.
They were rather persistent in their Time Share marketing.
Over all, I would definitely recommend the Ocean Reef to friends and fellow divers.

The hotel was OK. The service was horrible. The alcoholic berverages were horrible. Not much to do at the hotel.

just returned from my stay at the Ocean Reef on May 10th, I have stayed at three other locations before staying here and I found my new favorite place, the staff is wonderful and makes you feel like you are part of there family while you are there they will try to see to it you get and have everything you need there is a welcome dinner on Monday night for all guests that is free along with games and free prizes there is also FREE scuba lessons on monday!! I* can't wait to go back!!
