Lovely Parador at the top of the hill with the most gorgeous view! Carla received us warmly and was very helpful as well. Our room was of a good size, bright, clean, and with an awesome view, looking over the port of Malaga. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Lots of parking around the premises We didn’t have dinner at their restaurant. I would recommend this hotel for the views, but be aware that to go down and up from where all the recommended tapa bars and restaurants are located, will take you some time to public-park and walk to them.

Absolutely lovely stay, the staff were friendly and helpful and we loved everything about the hotel

Problem at check in, reception staff not interested in helping

Great and helpful staff. Beautiful location.

This is not a cheap stay, you pay for the location and view and rooms are spacious. However they are quite simple with bare floors and very thin walls so you can hear alot of banging and scraping. The clientele when we were there were older couples so the noise did reduce at night. Also they did accommodate a room change request for this reason, although the second room suffered the same problem. It is just the construction of the building. The breakfast and dinner are good and the service was excellent. However, overall, the value was not great. The location is not great if you want other dining or shopping options.

Amazing service, great food & fabulous views

Quiet away to itself on top of hill but close to city centre along a steep path past the castle to the alcazar. Take 35 bus back up unless you enjoy the climb. Unique location.
Immaculate hotel with efficient staff.

Views were good and staff helpful.
Checked the chit and we had been billed at breakfast for the breakfast, although we had half board, corrected quickly. Arrived back at 10pm one day, no coffee left after it had been service whilst we were out all day.

Great place....friendly very professional staff and views you would kill for. Great quality. Walk to city centre is 20 minutes with poor footing downhill. Back up is steep and
40 minutes - get a taxi.

Easy and fast check-in process, very clean and neat room with a fantastic view of the city/area. We dined at the bar which had decent food and drinks. Plenty of parking space in the hotel property and it’s free of charge! The bus option is also a plus.

The hotel property is extremely beautiful, without a doubt. And all the rooms face the harbour. You are very high up a winding road, right next to the ruins of a Moorish castle from the 1300's. For this reason alone, it is worth it. Our room was large, spotless, comfy, but not particularly modern or posh. The walls are very thin, so we experienced much noise from families with small children. The service in the cafe, bar area was really slow. I do not think they have enough staff. But the staff on all counts were very professional, personable and as helpful as could be.

Beatifull views, large confortable rooms. Great cuisine for dinner. Breakfast just OK.

We loved it!

Great views of the city & port! Right next to the Castillo so you can pickup the On Off or city bus.
We didn’t care for the restaurant at the hotel but an 8 Euro taxi ride to Centro gives you access to lots of restaurants and is a great way to spend the evening.

Loved staying at this Parador- we are big fans of the paradores in Spain. Reliable quality and service and always can count on cleanliness and sometimes a bit of history as youstay in them. Our room had an AMAZING view and the restaurant was really good!

We have enjoyed this parador several times before. Its location is very special with spectacular views of Malaga. Every detail of convenience, hospitality and superb staff attention are what continue to draw us on every visit to Malaga. We have only the highest praise for this Gibralfaro Parador!

Everything was wonderful however the dining staff needs more help. We had to at one point clear our own table and the table that was next to us hadn't been cleared so we put the dishes on that able. It took at least 45 minutes before it was cleared. Not enough staff, the menu needs to change a little day to day for people to want to have the dinner experience at the hotel. The atmosphere is so wonderful, would have loved to have more chances to eat there.

The views from the hotel are amazing
Right beside the castle and a walk down hill to the old town

Typical Spanish hotel and very nice. Great location with fantastic views , there is a bus to and from the town and drops of at the beach , sun beds and umberella very cheap 8euros for two , the beach restaurants also very reasonable, we was going to attempt to park at the beach but seemed more trouble that it was worth taxi 5 euros to the beach . The hotel seemed a bit short of staff at times although they did do their best

The hotel was a wonderful find for us as it provided great views, ability to get to central town easily, and was comfortable and clean. Staff were a pleasure to deal with.

Danni and other reception staff were exceptional - we liked the Picasso paintings and general decor. The position of hotel whilst up the hill next to Castle meaning a v hot walk up or what became easy the 35 bus or taxi, both readily available at little cost

This parador is located top of a hill with superb views of Malaga. Just 48 rooms with a great service and restaurant. Our room was really spacious.

Very nice property with excellent service and location. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean!

The views from the rooms are the best. The downside of the beautiful views are getting to town requires a Taxi or Uber unless you are extremely physically fit. The climb down or up the hill would take approx. 20 min. but it is very steep and you would need to be in top shape to do it. It was Uber for me, LOL! I would stay again for the views alone though.

The view is spectacular. Lovely building, food and drink excellent and good value for a hotel of this quality. The walk back from town is not for the faint hearted but it does make all those holiday treats guilt free!

This place was beautiful and the views were amazing! Two beds in the room which was perfect for travelling with my sister. Nice grounds and view points close by outside and from balcony!
Restaurant and bar on site which was nice. Breakfast included is a great option when booking. There was free parking which was a bit busy sometimes with all the visitors coming for the view points. Very close to the Castle. Can walk to downtown area in about 20 minutes but was a bit steep of a path.

Location is fantastic

Very friendly staff, good service overall, breakfast buffet with sufficient variation of food. Fantastic view of the harbour and the centre of the city, from the room, from the cafeteria, from the restaurant.

View from this hotel is to die for. Luisa from the restaurant was amazing and even provided some tips for us visiting the city. Parking was a breeze but keep in mind that there is no many places around the property to eat. The hotel is a must if you want to enjoy the stunning city view, if no I will recommend staying somewhere else. The front desk staff was very helpful as well.

Really enjoyed our stay, with friends. Location, accommodation, staff friendliness, all excellent. Meals were all very good and almost too generous!
Two suggestions:
- There be a couple of changes of menu during each
week. Staff advised that the menu is changed only 4
times a year - far too infrequent.
- Guests should not be charged supplements for some of
the menu items. Why?
Otherwise very happy with our visit.

Stunning views and fantastic staff.
Really wonderful trip.

4 star views of the city/port, but only a 3 star hotel. Outdated/broken bathroom tools. Air conditioning did not work to cool and we visited in November, would hate to feel the heat during summer months. We’re told we had to leave our key in for AC to cool all day, we came back to key being removed from housekeeping and a hot room.

Lovely hotel with beautiful views of Malaga. Lunch on the terrace was perfect.

Unbelievable luxury. Great hotel, quiet and above the city. Views forever!

Having stayed at three other paradores to now, this one was different in many ways. On arrival mid-afternoon, the bar area was very crowded. The amazing position next to the Gibralfaro castle and its visibility from the docks area seems to draw
crowds wanting to have some experience of being there. Later however it was quiet with only guests in the restaurant. Be warned if coming by car; the hill access is fine late afternoon when
the tourists have gone but plan to leave before about 0900 as many coaches come up the hill after about then.
The hotel lives up to parador expectations; the food with the demi-pension was exceptional.
