I arrived at 1530 to check in and was told that my room was not ready yet despite check in time starting at 1500. After waiting an additional 10-15 minutes I was told the room I booked was not available even though I reserved it over a month in advanced. I was downgraded to a room with two small beds instead of the queen size bed in a room that felt much smaller. I do not believe there was a change in the price I was charged despite being placed in a lower quality room than what I paid.

Decent stay. Nothing special but no major complaints. The room was a bit small as expected. There was an unit heat but I don’t think it cooled. It could’ve been a language barrier but we could not get it to heat. There was an air purifier with fan though. Very basic amenities. Staff was very kind. It is in the middle of the red light district… it did the job for one night but wouldn’t be my top choice.

We stayed for six days. The hotel is typical size for Shinjuku, the rooms tend to be small, but the bathroom is huge. The front desk service and the room service were excellent. I would stay here again.

Excellent location and good amenities/services available within the hote or nearby, with very helpful staff. Unfortunately the feeling of cleanliness we had in all the other hotels we stayed in was let down a little here by a bin in the bathroom which was heavily stained around the outside with what looked like period blood. On the plus side, the hotel did manage to withstand a local earthquake very well during our stay, with reassuring messages passed by staff over the address system.

Location was fantastic, and hotel staff were accommodating and friendly. Room was small, but expected based on the central location in Tokyo. Highly recommend for staying in Shinjuku area.

The staff was helpful and made the stay feel so special. 24hr front desk and a prime location in Shinjuku, close to bars and nightlife. 12 min walk to the metro station

This location is like the heart of Shinjuku Japan. You have food, bars, transits and everything by walking distance. CLOSE BY WALKING DISTANCE. Def will be staying here again if I ever visit Japan again.

Very convenient

As a solo traveler this property was very convenient for transportation wise as there’s 3 stations close by which was Seibu-Shinjuku, Higashi-Shinjuku & Shin-Okubo. Staff was very friendly and was able to speak English as my Japanese was not that good. Very secure entrance and all amenities were included. I will definitely will come back to stay here again just because of easy access to the food shops and as well as Korea town is literally across the street. Not only that but you also have 7/11 , Lawson and Family Mart just around the block you can never run out of things to eat. Yes it is in Kabukicho, the Red Light District but I still felt safe enough to walk around late night.

Area was in a great spot in Shinjuku -- walkable to the station and lots to see/do in the area.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful with any needs be it needing a shower cap to booking a taxi to Shinjuku bus terminal with all our luggage. Room was cleaned wonderfully each day. Bed is hard as per other reviews but we didn’t mind it, pillow was also small and on the firm side. If your not used to Tokyo hotels you may find it difficult with luggage but we simply moved the desk chair and placed one luggage under the desk (as I prefer to keep mine open) and my husband kept his at the end of the bed (just had to open it each day when he needed anything and moved the humidifier to the corner of the bed). Plenty of amenities were provided at the lobby in front of the elevator and on the room floor by elevator. There was a vending machine on ground floor which we used multiple times. There are also laundry facilities but we used the clothes line above the bath and washed what we needed ourselves in the room. You are right within walking of Kabukicho area, not great if you have kids perhaps with all the clubs as it can seem a bit seedy but for adults it’s fine and safe. Shin Okubo area (Korea town) is literally across the road and a straight walk. Great little Korean street food stall in front of Don Donki. There’s also a family mart and 7/11 within meters of hotel. Shin okubo station is a little walk but not too far, same for Higashi Shinjuku station (metro line). JR Shinjuku station is a walk but not far. Hotel was nice and good value. Would recommend.

Amazing spot to stay at. Very clean and comfortable. My favorite was the shower/tub room that is a must have for a hotel room.

Preferably to have the ability to hang clothes in the bathroom while using shower or bath

Cleanliness: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Comfort: 5/5
Noise: 5/5
Overall: Good location although there appear to be some girlie bars around I think. I stayed in the renovated rooms and if I come back to Tokyo I'd stay here again.
The extended review...
Cleanliness: 5/5 - The linens and towels were clean which is all I can ask for.
Service: 5/5 - Friendly staff who spoke English which I appreciate.
Comfort: 5/5 - A very comfortable room where I was able to get The rooms wasn't as small as I thought it would be and the bathroom was actually pretty big. The best part was the blackout curtains!!!!

Pretty basic and shabby hotel. Area around it feels a bit sketchy.

Walkable distance to most central parts of Shinjuku. Located about 5 mins from a train station so pretty convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful when called upon.

Rooms were neat, space efficient and had everything we needed, walking distance to stations and choose to multiple 7-11 and family marts.
The only downside is the beds are a bit hard and can be tricky to get a good sleep on of you like softer beds.

Friendly staff and easy check in.

Nice stay, I believe anyone would be fine staying at the Hotel Villa Fontaine for a few nights. Actually, in comparison to its direct neighbours the exterior definitely stood out as the best nearby.
I loved that 7-11 was like 30 steps away from the front lobby - sooo close - and better yet, that K-Town with its Korean pancakes, mozza filled potato corn dogs, Don Quiote store and soo much more were just a street away - seriously though, hit up the Jongho street stand for even more delicious mozza filled eats in K-Town!!
I know my friend didn’t find the beds terribly comfortable, however, I was fine. We both agree the washroom was nice, and the shower tub area was huge in our '2 twin beds' room type. The in-room decor was a choice, but nothing bad; and the inclusion of local television was a nice touch in Japan, especially as most hotels we stayed at were pay-per-view in one form or another.
All-in-all this was a clean and comfortable stay with a great location between K- Town and the energy of Shinjuku's Godzilla Street - enjoy your stay!

Hotel is dated, we got one of their older rooms not the new renovated ones. Room was stale smelling and you can see the dust caked on the vent. Shower room had visible signs of mold. Bed was somewhat comfy. All pillow options were horrible.

Staff are polite and can speak in English. Even though there is no parking but they can provide a coupon for you to park in the carpark next to the hotel with reasonable price. Good location close to shops, donki and restaurants.

Great place would recommend, however didn't like Shinjuku at night because I didn't realize I'd be harass by the foreigners in the red light district smh. I will stay with a different Hotel Villa next time.

The bathing rooms were so comfortable. It is about a 8-10 minute walk from the train stations, but it was a very nice hotel and the staff was so friendly and helpful!

Nice big bed. Bathroom and shower was extremely large compared to others in Japan. The staff couldn’t have been any better. They were so attentive and friendly. We even had a small refrigerator in the room.

Great location in Shinjuku. 5-10 min walk to any of the surrounding train stations. Has a 7 Eleven one block away which is great for drinks and delicious snacks. Nice and quiet area, waking distance to the Korean restaurants, Golden Gai, Kabukicho and local bars. Good value for money. Rooms are VERY small. Enough room for a queen bed up against the wall and <1m clearance around the other two edges of the bed. Behind a sliding door was a decent sized bathroom with a shower ‘room’ that contained a small bath, plus toilet and basin. Modern fit out and everything was clean.
Our room was so small, however, that my partner lost his footing when moving his suitcase off the bed (so I could put mine there), and he stumbled and fell into the wall, upon which the TV was mounted. The TV broke and the hotel charged us AUD$1200 to replace it plus AUD$300 installation. We were disappointed we hadn’t just spent that money to stay at a nicer, bigger room at a different hotel in the area. Put a massive dint in our spending money and a dampener on our holiday.

Check-in was a seamless experience, great after a long flight. Rooms we’re fairly sized for the location and value - pleasantly surprised by the size of the bathrooms! They provided ample toiletries for your convenience.
While the area is extremely convenient, accessible and in the thick of the Shinjuku action, wanted to advise that the hotel is in a bustling nightlife activity. Walking felt safe but be prepared for some expected noise through the night.
3.0
Excellent service from the front desk team. This hotel has a great location in Shinjuku with a walking distance to all the places we wanted to visit. 7-eleven across the street was also really nice.
