Really great place in Esperanza, located conveniently near the water and many restaurants. It has a nice pool and outdoor grill area. The one drawback is that it's not very quiet and there are very loud chickens next door. I imagine this is the case across the whole island, so not anything that can be done about it.

The room was nice and clean. Good location close to beach.

What a fantastic find! Casa del Tortuga is steps to the restaurants and bars on the main strip and as well as a beach. And Sun Bay Beach is only a 15 min walk, too. To top it off, the managers were incredibly gracious and full of recommendations. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

The room provided was spacious for a couple to stay overnight. We were well introduced with the property and the services during the time of check in. The location is near the beaches and the restaurants and could be easily reached to a grocery store nearby.
The room had plenty of mosquitoes however and then we tried to reach out to the owner for any solution they had but could not meet them 2-3 times and eventually gave up.
Overall the hotel is good enough for short and intermediate length of stay.

The host and the room were very accommodating. (Be aware there are roosters all over the island any place you stay you will hear them crowing. It’s advisable to bring earplugs for better sleep.)
But the was very cute and felt like a beach getaway.

This place is awesome, very friendly staff and central to everything

Great place conveniently located. Constant crowing of roosters next door. Cool outdoor vibe in back. Great hosts.

We stayed for just 1 night. Our rooms were clean. Owner gave good instructions how to connect to wifi and how to use the AC units so we wouldn't have any troubles. Close walking distance to restaurants. It was raining so we didn’t use the pool nor go to any beaches.

This is a great place. The owner is helpful, personable. We showed up four hrs early in lousy weather and he made us comfortable and managed to get our room cleaners as soon as the occupants left. He has lots of advice (breakfast, taxis) that worked. The room is nicely decorated.

Clean and comfortable rooms with wonderful owners who were fun to share stories with.
Convenient extras included beach chairs and towels for use.
Chickens next door kept my wife awake but brought back good memories of my childhood in the country.
I’d definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property with wonderful people and easy to access all the nearby beaches and restaurants. The people at the hotel are warm and friendly

Roaches every where and the property management didn't care and we had to spray for the roaches ourselves. Roaches in the fridge, counter, so gross!

Need lots of upgrades to rooms everything is cheap quality

The chickens and/or roosters in the early morning disturbed our sleep pattern. I’d recommended guests wear ear plugs while sleeping. Otherwise, it was an excellent stay.

Very comfortable bed, beautiful pool. We were able to leave our bags there after checking out to walk around town, then could sit by the pool until our taxi took us to the ferry. extremely friendly. bath towels, beach towels, and pool towels all provided! Exceptional value! All over P.R. there are chickens and roosters, so bring ear plugs

It was very good for the price. Very good location. Everything worked fine. Room was clean. No complaints

Casa Tortuga is a charming place & the staff is super helpful and friendly. It’s only a block away from downtown Esparanza & the water. As much as we loved the vibe that Casa Tortuga provided, the neighboring rooster population crowed at all hours and we did not sleep well at all. I know this problem would be hard for Casa Tortuga to remedy but maybe including earplugs & noise machines in the bedrooms would help. The smell of chicken poop was very strong at the pool. It’s a shame that they are impacted by this.

Wonderful location. Close to many beaches by golf cart. Cute. Pool. Amenities good. Friendly staff with very helpful suggestions of places to go, and how to be courteous while driving the golf carts around. Could use a little more loving care in terms of upkeep of our room, but the staff were working hard with upkeep of the whole place.

Beautiful, clean, and convenient hotel. Walking distance to convenience stores, restaurants, and bio bay tour meetups. Skip is such a dedicated manager, every time I saw him he was doing something for the hotel or the guests. Super friendly!!
The hot water is very nice! I heard from other people in Vieques that they had problems with hot water in their hotels, so I'm glad Casa de Tortuga doesn't have any problems!!
The power in the region shut down for 2 minutes when we were there. And the roosters were quite loud. But these things are unavoidable in Vieques and it's part of the small island experience! :)

Very quaint stay and wish we had another night to stay and explore the Esperanza area

Can't sleep for the whole night because of roosters crowing for whole night.

The hotel doesnt justify the rate it charges per day. Compared to the money charged per day, the hotel isnt that good.
It isn't value for money

Everything was great. Just the chickens next door, they made noise all day and all night. I couldn’t sleep.

Our bedding had dead insects and grease stains on it to the point me and my wife didn’t even sleep we just sat in the chairs for the night. The rooster and chickens are very noise so that inter fairs with watching tv or even thinking and the smell outside is cow manure did not enjoy our stay as we couldn’t sleep which was the point of staying the night overall very disappointed will not return to this location again.

A good budget friendly option not far from Bio Bay. The manager was very helpful and the room was clean and large. The property, overall, needs some upkeep, but it was nice to have a pool to cool off in.

The place is an excellent location within walking distance of our arranged tours. The lady attending it was very nice to us. However, the place could use some updates. It smells like a roach problem, and the kitchen does not have all the condiments, such as salt. The yard and pool area needed tending. Leaves everywhere.

Family of 6, was the best place. The owner was so personal. We talked to him every day. We will be back for sure!!

The pool and patio area was nice. There are a lot of fruit trees on the property as well. Parking area was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient location.
One downside is there are a lot of chickens and roosters next door that tend to crow way too early. Take some earplugs. There were also some bugs creeping around at night on countertop, but not unexpected based on being in a tropical location. Just keep food put away.

We absolutely loved Casa de Tortuga. The owner went out of his way to make our stay special and comfortable. Check in and check out was a breeze. He’s so funny and offered fun information about the area every time we ran into him. Our room was gorgeous, clean, and an incredibly comfortable home base for our adventures. Everything in Esperanza is a very easy walk away, including snorkeling off the pier and all of the bio bay meet up sites. The property is safe and well maintained, complete with pool and local fruit trees. I can’t say enough about how wonderful Skip and Casa de Tortuga made our stay in Vieques, and I can’t wait to book our room for next year.

The host was rude and condescending. The informations provided about the property in the website are mostly false.
We arrived on the island very early in the morning. We called the property to ask about possible early check-in, nobody answered, we left a message, no one called back - their website states that “ If you need to check in or check out outside of these hours, please contact the hotel in advance to make arrangements.” The website also boasts about 24/7 front desk service (not true), and “…friendly and helpful staff will be waiting for you upon arrival to ensure that you have a hassle-free check-in experience. We offer a 24/7 front desk service, so you can check in at any time that is convenient for you.” Because we thought they had staff 24/7, we proceeded to the property. The courtyard was littered with garbage, the check in area had bugs and mosquitoes and no friendly staff at all! After waiting for a considerable time, we knocked at a door closest to the check in counter. A shirtless, untidy human being showed up and rudely told us that check in’s at 3:00pm. when we asked for possible early check in, he condescendingly replied, “do you want me to drive other guests away to check you in?” We are aware of the 3pm check in policy, and we are fine with coming back later in the day but since their website indicates that early check in can be arranged and 24/7 smooth, efficient, and hassle-free process would be provided, we took the chance.

My check in was at 2:00pm according to the website where I booked and it was by 3:30pm that the person arrived at the hotel. He ignored us completely and went about to complete what he was doing. Host seemed bothered by our presence and his tone of voice was loud followed by sarcasm. Host is very rude and made us feel uncomfortable at every single second of our stay. Rooms were not properly equipped for our arrival and seemed nothing like the pictures being promoted. Doors were broken, air conditioning was not working properly, there was food left in the stove and microwave which seemed like the room itself was never cleaned before our arrival. The bathroom was dirty and the shower had black fungus on its corners. The pool, chairs, towels, pool bar, stairs, and everything else in the hotel was dirty and seemed abandoned. There was animal feces everywhere. We were treated horribly and everything step we took was followed by an aggressive comment or scolding. He seemed angry, we were being watched in the pool, in the lobby and the parking lot where he made multiple comment as if our cognitive development was below average. This host and his comments intent were hostile, homophobic, xenophobic and should not be allowed to work with people or be disrespectful towards paying guest. This was a horrible experience and I will never again stay in casa tortuga. Never again.

Location is great, not even half a block from the Malecon. Quiet environment and beautiful setting, with mango and starfruit that you can pick up from the trees directly on the property. Enjoyed the small pool; beach chairs and umbrellas can be barrowed. Friendly host with good tips for visiting the island and its beaches.

Property was very clean and close to most things. I truly recommend this stay.
