Great, clean and comfortable stay close to Main street. Wes was super friendly and checked me in quickly and recommended a excellent place for dinner. This will be my new go too for a night or two stay in Durango.

I love these old motels, they are so filled with nostalgia. Caboose Motel is classic; a bit rough around the edges and a little worn, but very clean and cozy. Bed is very comfortable, lighting is not great but passable, as a whole, it's charming and quaint.

The bed was super soft wasn’t comfortable. The room was very outdated. The walls are thin. You get what you pay for.

Super friendly staff and a truly unique place to stay. Would very highly recommend!

A quaint little place. Stayed 2 different times within a 10 day period. First room needed some work and deep cleaning, minor updating wouldn't have hurt. 2nd visit in a different room and it was better/cleaner. Certainly not the Ritz but we enjoyed our stay in a cute little local motel with a long family history.

It is “pet friendly “ just not cat friendly. We stayed somewhere else that night.

For a night it was fine, but not very clean, it did smell funny and the decore lacked any consistency.
I wouldn't stay again

It was great that they only charged $10 for our dog. Lots of street noise as well as the room next door. Nice grounds and close to walking path along the river

The caboose was a great one night stay for us. The bed was good, water pressure in the shower was just fine, and the little gated area was perfect for our young dog. The Gazebo had a nice selection of games. Nice to hear the train whistle every so often, too.

Quiet and pet friendly

Room very clean, customer service is excellent. Grounds provided great rec area and dog friendly.

The room was adequate but without a dresser or bedside table. Bathroom was only ok - shower floor was cracked, missing floor grout, floor could have been cleaner. Location was great.

Good room, but overpriced.

Friendly staff. The room was poorly lit and the door was in such bad condition that you could hear every car, truck and motorcycle that drove by the property.

The owner and staff were wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. The property is older but very well taken care of, clean and comfortable

This is a little gem and a must stay. We have traveled over 26 states on our motorcycle and have stayed at many small motels. This is one on the to of our list and will definitely come back. Very cute and clean. The staff is great and welcoming. The grounds have plenty of places to sit and relax. If you are exploring the area or just passing through on an overnite, this is on that you will love.

Caboose was such a neat little motel. It is no frills but clean clean clean. Staff was nice and courteous. It takes you back to days when you are young like the 1970s. A real key on a caboose key chain, front of room parking, If in Durango I recommend The Caboose.

Booked this place as the last night of our Colorado trip. Pics of the "Standard Room, 1 King Bed (Newly remodeled)" looked OK. $160 is steep (staying at The Conrad in Vegas next week for the same price), but I figured it would be better than average for Durango for that price.Definitely do more of a deep dive into this motel that I did before booking.
No one at the front counter for check in. Took a few minutes for a guy to make it up front to get us keys. Not the warmest reception.
Total dump. Room we received looks nothing like the pictures. It looks, and smells, like a partially finished basement, if there were basements in trailer parks. Furniture is 40 years old and very tired.
Nasty industrial carpet, cheap fixtures, nothing matches. Decorated with junk from a 1983 garage sale. I especially like the vintage inner spring bed that bounced like you're on the moon, and the $40 contractor spec vanity in the bathroom with a faucet missing an aerator so it shoots water all over your pants when you turn it on.
No amenities. Appears to have had a hot tub at one time, which had been converted into a play pen and storage locker.
Nightmare parking, steep slope, tight turns and difficult access for trucks.
Definitely ripped off. At $40 a night, this place would have been fine. At $70 a night, it would be a stretch. At $160 a night, this is a total scam. Would have been better off sleeping in the back of our truck down the road at the excellent United Campground.

We love this place and stay here every time we visit Durango. it is family owned and operated and has such a convenient location! The owners are always available to help with any issues, and it’s great to have A/C and heat available!

I liked the kitchenette and the original design which was both old fashioned and modern artsy.

This place is underrated!!
I can stay at any chain I want, but they are all the same so I seek out “charm and quaint” on purpose. Caboose has a wall heater and kitchenette like the 1950’s and I loved it !!

This motel is older and may need some updating and a little maintenance - the tub drain was slow and the main door in the room we stayed in needs a new seal. The heating system is pretty dated, but works, just probably not very efficient. Overall, for our needs (roof over our heads and a comfortable bed), the place worked well enough.

ALERT!! 911 ALERT!!
Booked this place based on reviews.
Wife and I checked in and went into the room to get some rest.
As I turned towards the window side I saw the manager(the guy who checked us in) peeping into our room from the gap between the window curtain. As I saw him he ran away. I immediately followed him and asked what was he doing.
He started making stories that he was looking for his dog. I knew he was lying. Me and my wife felt unsafe.
We called 911 and we went to that guy in the presence of the officer and got our refund.
We trusted EXPEDIA for this booking but we were stuck in the night trying to find a different spot on our own.
Not a safe place at all. Also do not expect EXPEDIA to own when you book from their website.

This dog friendly spot in Durango is great! Easy access to the river walk and great dining without the crowded atmosphere of downtown. The room was comfortable and very quaint! Loved the decor.

Very busy highway next to room. Not the hotels fault. Poor lighting in the room.

The exterior photos are not accurate. Front desk person was very unwelcoming and made it clear he didn’t want to be bothered with guests. The mostly naked painting of a woman that was being painted at the front desk seemed extremely inappropriate in that location for all to see when they check in. The parking lot is a little small given the large trucks that appeared to be vehicles of longer term guests. We felt unsafe with the activity of some of the other guests. There are too many other choices to stay here. Also, the location is at the narrow end of the town resulting in very close neighbors and noisy trucks on the street right behind the property.

The room was clean. The bed springs were broke and the bed was very uncomfortable. We told the cleaning lady and she said she would tell the owner. That was the first day and we never heard from them again.

I really liked the style of the room and decor. It was very cozy and didn't make me feel like I was in just another hotel.

Charming little motel. I'd be happy to stay there again when passing through Durango.

Really enjoyed my stay at the caboose. It's a very cool and funky place...like staying in someone's cabin in the 60s..I can see where it wouldn't be everyones thing but I loved the uniqueness. Barbecue place a couple blocks down is really good too. I would stay here again

Rooms smelled of animal urine. The updates to one of the rooms we had were really nice, but the room still smelled like animal urine.
2.0
It was a remodeled room, new bed, new appliances. There was no closet in the room, and no chair in the room. There was a microwave in the kitchen but no eating utensils except for one spoon. When we arrived in the middle of the afternoon, the office door was locked, and there was a sign on the door to go to an outside check in window, where I had to ring a bell to get someone to come into the office to check me in. Overall, the motel was clean and remodeled, but very small motel room. We did enjoy a little outside area, with a gazebo, hanging swing, grill with gas. Motel is in a great location, close to restaurants and food stores

Cute and affordable place to stay. We’ll definitely be back.
