On a tight budget with a 1 night layover in Iceland, we needed a clean, safe guest room and got that plus a wonderful staff. BUT, isolated in a mostly industrial area with a 1.4 mile hike to the nearest Flybus stop for airport transfers, because of the icy winter conditions, we opted for a taxi with a costly cab fare. I would think if we had more time to explore and a rental car 9which we cancelled given concerns over the recent seizmic and volcanic activity, and unfamiliar roads) I'm sure we would have been fine. We did get to use to Reebok facility next door for free and it was wonderful, uncrowded and great for the fitness minded.

Wife and I were staying in room 429. We had the most painful toilet seat we have ever experienced. It left marks on our thighs and butts in just a few minutes and it painfully stayed for a long time after. I’m not sure if all the rooms have the same type of toilet seat, but ours was very sharp edged. We also attempted to use the kettle that was in the room. We checked it and put water in it, to clean out the kettle before use. We were so lucky we did that because this insect came out with it, into the sink. I’m not familiar with the insects here but it looked like a bed bug the size of a US dime. Needless to say, we did not use that kettle again.

Great hotel! We enjoyed our stay here while visiting Iceland. Breakfast was very convenient and nice to get an early start on our day. The staff was nice when we had questions. We loved our room, very spacious with blackout curtains. My one complaint was the comforter for our double bed was just two twin comforters. Otherwise we loved the hotel and even saw the northern lights from it!

Great stay, however, they should have usb ports in the rooms for conveniences for visitors.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Vellir. It’s not far from the Keflavik airport and you can get into the centre of Reykjavik by car. We were upgraded on arrival so had a room with windows along both sides which was a nice surprise. Our thoughts:
- Room was stylish, comfortable and clean.
- Towels were very small.
- Blackout curtains in the room were great.
- Breakfast was the same everyday (cold continental buffet plus DIY waffles).
- Staff were generally helpful and friendly.
Our added bonus was that we saw the Northern Lights from the hotel room one night!

Staff is amazing, specially Anna! We had a very nice and quiet room, beautiful and decorated, the shower is amazing, with good water pressure, comfortable bed. I will definitely get back to visit Iceland again, and stay in Hotel Vellir.

Good hotel for those travelling and not searching for night program. Free parking, nice hotel inside ambient. Bar and restaurant only open until 10pm. Breakfast is OK.

I was very pleased with the accommodations and the staff here. It is a little out of the way if you don’t have a car, otherwise it’s great!

It's right next to the highway, good hotel but could be better. The breakfast was good.

Nice, clean and spacious room. A lot of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Continental breakfast included, all cold food but it was still a good start to the day. We are happy with this place and will be back one more night next week.

WE WERE SO UPSET WE WEREN'T NOT INFORMED THAT THE SPA/SAUNA SHUT AT 7PM THE DAY WE ARRIVED. WE PAID EXTRA EXTRA FOR THIS SERVICE AND TO NOT EXPERIENCE IT WAS SUCH A DRAG.

Very nice beds and bathrooms. Close to the city and close to darkness for northern light viewing.

Staff was not friendly. Beds not comfortable and no bed sheets, only mattress cover

The bed is too soft.
Disappointed that there were flies around in the breakfast buffet area.

Very nice & clean hotel with access to training & spa facilities.
Stayed for two nights and on our departure day we were leaving very early, but then the hotel prepared a breakfast-to-go for us as. Very nice service.

We hada twin room facing the road no.1, It was extremely loud and we could not sleep.
The breakfast is lousy. The offer was the same during our 6-night stay (orange and melon withour deviation). I do not know how old the butter was at the bottom of the pot. It seems that new butter was simply battered on the old one. Boiled eggs were over-boiled and served cold. I know it's a 3-star hotel. However, it is so loveless.

Really nice hotel, next to gym, also next to football field and beautiful trail behind hotel

Easy to see from main highway. Delicious breakfast buffet. Unfortunately whole area had no hot water on evening of our arrival—restored by 7:15 AM the next AM.

The hotel staff was really helpful.
Had the best vegetarian burger, fries and Viking beer at the restaurant at the hotel.

Massive comfy bed, large room, breakfast good. Needs more lights in the room as it was woefully dark!

I feel terrible b/c I accidentally left a poor review for this hotel instead of another hotel we stayed in where we experienced problems with checking in. This hotel was actually a piece of cake to check into and is a wonderful place to stay in Iceland!

There were not sheets on one of the two beds in our room. They had one thin pillow on each bed. No one was available to help after checking in. We were too exhausted to complain

Good value. Clean and comfortable.

We only used this as an overnight stay for an early flight so didn't have breakfast as they would have charged us extra for a breakfast box before 7am, which seemed a bit steep. Twin beds were fine but mattresses slipped off frames at slightest movements and plug sockets were in inconvenient places for charging phones etc. Didn't use the restaurant and found the info about the gym confusing. Towels small and soap dispenser kept falling off wall at us (dodgy catch) room quite hot but couldn't open window as road noise was extremely loud.

Everyone super nice. we missed our flight needed somewhere close to airport ( 20 min drive ) far away form the city but clean rooms

This hotel is a 30 minutes away from the airport but is well worth it. Our room was cozy and clean from head to toe.
At checkout, we asked for directions on how to get to Downtown Reykjavík and staff was super helpful.
Well worth our money and would come back on next trip.

We loved our stay at Hotel Vellir! This was our first night in Iceland, and we slept a lot when we first got to the hotel. The beds were very comfy! The staff was very helpful and we all loved the breakfast (I somehow missed that there was a restaurant, so having breakfast provided for us was a really nice surprise). It's in an easy to get to location and is right down the street from a Bonus store. We would definitely stay there again!

We stayed here this week on a one-night stopover in Iceland on our way from the UK to the USA. This was one of the more cost-effective locations for a family of four to stay in, was an easy drive to the airport the next morning, and close enough to the city to enjoy the sights the day we were in town. The beds were comfortable and the front desk very friendly. They even prepped a "to go" bag with our breakfast since we had to leave before it started.

Very fine place to stay if you want to be near the airport Reykjavik. They have a limited dinner menu, but we were happy with what we got after a long day of driving. Room was a little hot. Not a nice area to stay if you’re interested in walking around at all.
