Staying at Start Hostel was a great experience. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

Very near the airport with 24 hour check-in, which was great because we had a late flight and taxis are so expensive in Iceland. Breakfast was also good. Price/checkout was confusing because it is difficult to track price on hotels.com, account for currency in ISK, which fluctuates substantially daily, convert to Euros, then to USD.

We stayed here 1 night on an 18 hour layover. It is close to the airport and was easy to get to late at night after our flight got in. The guy at the front desk was friendly and quick checking us in. The breakfast was adequate and about what we expected. My husband thought the price was a little high, but then we read that Iceland is expensive. So for Iceland it’s probably priced normally. We stayed in a family room that would have slept 5, but our party only had 4. Overall I would stay here again. The beds and pillows were comfortable and we all slept well.

Great location for the airport although you should have a car because taxi transfer is around $25-30 each way. There is a bus stop about 2 blocks away that is cheaper.
Fantastic breakfast which started at 4 AM. Coffee, tea available throughout the day. Also a fridge and kitchen is available in a common area. Shower was nice. This hostel was one of several properties converted from a former NATO base. Start did a nice job making it comfy for all.

Start Hostel is perfectly situated for an overnight stay prior to an early flight at the end of your stay in Iceland.

Wonderful location (close to the airport) but a little tricky finding it as the GPS was unable to identify its location. Had to use Google Maps. Staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Room was large, clean and the bed was comfortable.

Brilliant buffet breakfast that started early enough for us the eat before going the airport. Room was clean and comfortable, if a little sparse and dated. Location is very quiet - not much around. Staff at check-in was friendly and helpful. Overall a useful place to stay if you need to near the airport.

The room was very clean and exceptionally large. There was no TV, but that was ok as we were all zonked from jet lag and being up for 30 hours! The room met all of our needs. The hotel itself was quiet and the staff were very friendly.

Our room was nice and clean, we had our own bathroom. We didn't use the shared bathrooms and kitchen. The breakfast was simple but good.

Friendly staff and easy parking. Coffee and tea available at all times of the day and night so late night arrivals are accommodated. Good spread for breakfast available from 4am. Would happily stay again.

Typical airport hostel, which has exactly what you need (and no more) for a single night before leaving the country.
In the name of truth, the standard of this hostel is more like a 2- or 3-star hotel than of a typical hostel!
Although rooms are spacious, the beds are curiously narrow, but the mattresses are good, so the sleep quality is good - after all.
Breakfast is already served from 4 o'clock in the morning, so even those of us who (sigh!) had to catch a very early flight could have breakfast at the hotel.
Breakfast is a bit basic, but besides bread the quality and variation is OK.
We didn't meet any staff at all other than the receptionist. She was friendly, but indeed on cruise control, so you really had to have your ears perked up to get any of the information.

And He was very helpful.not too far from the Airport.
Has no shuttles..
Over all one night not too bad to stay here.

Very pleased with my stay in a four bed female dorm. Plenty of space in the room and a reading light and electric outlet at each bed. Really liked the pillow and duvet.
Also felt warmly welcomed by the front desk staff.

Our flight was delayed and we arrived at the property well after midnight but were greeted pleasantly and promptly. Breakfast the next morning was a welcome addition - plenty of choices to get our day started well.

Staff was great Gentlemen at front desk was very helpful! I thought when i booked there would be transportation to and from airport which isnt the case. Its 40 dollars to get back and forth from airport.

It is a wonderful and friendly place to stay. We like it and its hospitality.
The only problem is a lack of transportation between the hostel and airport. A taxi is expensive.
It worked to us because we had a car rental.

The hotel was amazing. The staff were one of the nicest people we have ever met. The room was so clean , neat and had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious. And to top it off the price was very affordable.
When coming back, this is the only place we will stay at.

The room was the largest we stayed in during or 7 day vacation trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was very nice and quiet compared to others, and the buffet breakfast was outstanding. The only thing missing was croissants.

- conveniently close to the airport with 24 hour reception. Excellent breakfast. They provide advice re car rental so that you can walk to pick up your rental car in the morning. Exceptionally friendly helpful staff. Very large clean room and bathroom.

Very friendly staff, comfortable beds. Quiet rooms. Breakfast had a variety of fresh fruits, meats and cheese slices. Also, hot and cold cereals, yogurts, breads and sweet treats. Would highly recommend and would return.

I didnt get to stay in Start Hostel but was very disappointed by their lack of flexibility and also the cost of taxis to the airport was extortionate compared to other much better accomodation in the area. I didnt make the accomodatino as our rental car broke down and when as a gold member I asked for them to waive the fee it was ignoire
