Beautiful place, we loved all how it was kept true to its vintage.

It was well worth it for our purpose. We stayed one night and it was comfortable, clean and warm.

The property was not as advertised. We were told our room was "rustic," but told that was OK because "you're only staying a couple days." We found the room to be unfinished. The room had no smoke detector, either--definitely unsafe for that reason. An advertised "lounge" on the property was boarded up with broken windows, apparently having sustained a fire (!). If the room hadn't been prepaid, we would have left.

John and Grant are gracious hosts and Caroline is their wonderful head housekeeper. The location is ideal and the breakfasts superb

Charming with wonderful outdoor and porch areas to relax.

The owners were extremely friendly and accommodating! The location was great, close to restaurants, beaches, and shops. Our room was comfortable, and it is a beautiful, old inn.

The Wagner is a beautiful hotel. The facilities and grounds are excellent with areas outside to relax which we really enjoyed. Take a drink to the terrace or relax on the outdoor furniture in the garden! Mosquito repellant was on hand for guests to use which was a nice touch! The service from John the owner was personal, friendly and caring. He was helpful with recommendations and made the overall experience staying at The Wagner enjoyable. There are challenges daily with the property for the owners, having taken over the place fairly recently (as we understand this was very run down before) but they are handling this with care and continuously upgrading and making improvements! Housekeeping is an area to improve. Our room wasnt made up on one of the days when we asked for this to be done, but John personally apologised to us and made sure this was rectified but they still missed out a few details, no coffee refills, cups not replaced etc. But this didnt tarnish our enjoyment of our stay. Breakfast was delicious and a nice suprise as we didnt realise there would be any! It is a help yourself counter with fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, a delicious egg casserole and a french toast casserole. Juice, water and tea and coffee also on hand. My suggestion to enhance this experience would be to put a few more tables for breakfast outside to create a bit more space. We enjoyed our stay here immensely and would return. Highly recommended and the location is perfect to explore the cape

Lovely location in Wellfleet. The new owners have already made great improvements to the property and we look forward to visiting the site another time. Very nice breakfast.

Nobody at the desk during our 2 day stay, no staff insight- which dont bother me any but may be a turn off for some. Someone left out rotting fruit in the kitchen and there was a bad smell the whole 1st day. The room was clean and comfy with 4 pillows per beds and enough towels. You have to appreciate old buildings to enjoy this place with its crooked floors and cracking plaster walls. No doubt there's lots of old inn quirks, I mean charm. The room and lav is small with no tv in the room. I was worth the cheap rate but I'd be upset if I paid the full price rate and it was a decent nights sleep. Wish there was a tv.

New friendly owners are 6 weeks in and this was opening wkd. Loved the tasteful and artistic decor. The home prepared breakfast was outstanding and beautifully presented in the quaint dining room. Excellent restaurant, next door but one, that we dined at on our first night. The owners have great knowledge of the area for recommendations. They have further plans for in room titivating. Beautiful picturesque location backing onto a large pond with active bird life.
As an historic house, the walls are thin, so you will hear voices now and then. This doesn’t distract from having a great time. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for friendly relaxed hosts in a stylish semi rural setting. Plenty to see and do in the area with a short 20 min drive to Provincetown.

Great host. Good breakfast.

Very disappointed. We never met the owners. No one greeted us, a key was left in the door. The TV and WiFi didn’t work. The bed was horrible!!!! The room was musty. We left after out 1st night. Unfortunately, the reservation was not reimbursable.

Older Victorian that needs some work. Convenient to everything. Comfortable bed. Had to fight with the door to get in and out each day as it was sticking pretty bad.

Very charming spot, the building is older but well maintained. Great location, super comfortable beds. Nice outdoor space.

It’s an old house, probably built in the late 1800’s so don’t expect perfection. There are interesting and quirky details exposed by the remodel of the old house into an inn. It’s a good location, nice natural surroundings. Good access to downtown Wellfleet and further north to Provincetown.

Very disappointed that we were not told before trip that there would be no breakfast. Manager sent me an excerpt from website, but this information was not mentioned in any communications from hotels.com, in email confirmations from the hotel, or from the person I spoke to at the hotel when my room configuration had to be altered due to availability. We spent an additional $30-40 day on breakfasts that should have been included. We have stayed here several times before and were very happy, but the owners are trying to sell the property and don’t seem to care anymore. There was nobody at the front desk, ever. We had no towels in our room when we arrived. There are mice in the rooms. We saw one in our room in the middle of the night, and so did another guest we spoke to who was staying on the third floor. We would not stay here again. I understand that businesses on the cape are having a hard time finding staff, but this was ridiculous.

Our stay here or simply amazing. Driving up to this beautiful cottage. Cute little pond in the back of the property. The room was just what we needed cute clean and nice only issue is that the walls are extremely thin. Our neighbors had four small kids that started waking up at 6 AM. Other than that we had a lovely stay.

That’s when, Karen apologized reassured that she’ll make it work. She did thank you Karen!!! We absolutely loved the place

The inn was a lovely historic building. Staff was attentive and very helpful. I liked the location, which was walking distance to restaurants and a short drive to beaches and my family.

When I saw the rating at 3.3 I thought I would write to say that I feel thats a bit harsh. I always think a 5 star is the Ritz so this place is a solid 4- beds were very comfortable, nice location, breakfast good, Netflix on tv....nice family place.

a work in progress - old building going through modernization - breakfast ok , bed hard, service friendly

Staff was friendly and polite, location was convenient to the event. I was dissapointed when I was packing up to leave and there was a tick on the bedroom drapes. When mentioned to the staff all they said was that they'd remove it.

We were glad we chose to say here. We had some reviews that were not complimentary but we found nothing
wrong with our stay and would stay again. Only thing we could find fault with was not having cups in the bathroom.
Our room was clean, breakfast was good and the hotel staff were friendly.

This is my first negative hotel review, but my experience at Wagner at Duck Creek was so terrible that I feel obligated to share it.We stayed in The Captain's King room in the main building. When we checked in we were told that it was one of the best rooms in the hotel. It was a decent size room, a bit run down, but generally ok.But the bathroom was in really unspeakable condition:Mold at the ceiling, dirty stains all over the walls, clogged and leaking sink, wobbly toilet, dirty shower curtain and somebody's hair left in the tub drain. TERRIBLE! Also no exhaust! In addition to that the light in the bathroom went dead in the morning. And now comes the most outrageous part of the story. At the check out I reported all the issues to the receptionist. She collected the information and said that the owners will be in touch with me shortly. The owners never called me. So I wrote them an email where I described my experience at the hotel and requested a refund since the description of the room presented on the site was misleading and the room had no working bathroom. The response from the owners was outrageously rude, insulting, even threatening, accusing me of false reporting, and dismissing all the issues raised in my email (except for the tripped circuit breaker).I wish I could post it here for everybody to see, but instead I am just posting the photos taken at the hotel. If our room was one of the best ones in the hotel I can only imagine the condition of the rest of them.

-room smelled very musty entire visit
-dirty glasses left in the room from previous guest
-no hot water periodically
-broken locks on windows right next to common porch where people were loud very early in the morning and woke us up
-rusty & dirty tub and shower
-staff disregards you as a guest
-room very small for price
- door to room difficult to shut and lock
- emailed Walden owners after visit with all concerns as concerns were not addressed on site and received no answer
- comfortable, soft sheets and apple tv were the only good points
