Excellent property, with really Western style hotel rooms. Much cleaner than the ones I have seen in Los Angeles. Everything was kept clean and the staff were very nice. It is worth for the money. The only issue is with the food. So much oil on the food gave me diarrhea all night long. Would probably not eat any food with oil based.

lovely friendly staff throughout the property. Great value for money and a really good breakfast and restaurant. I can highly recommend this hotel and appreciate the effort that goes into having an enjoyable stay. Not that it is perfect, the wi-fi is an issue but then maybe that is true throughout the whole country? Mosquito nets would be useful or a fan?

Very good except for issues with lack of hot water, or even warm water.

Decor. Cleanliness, staff, breakfast choices location. And price. I will go stay again!

The property was severely misrepresented on internet. The only advantage was it was not in centre of city and thus quieter place to stay
However wifi was almost non existent, no Airconditioning, very poor hot water/shower, overpriced food/ breakfast. Even menu given showed 1 price and charged at much higher price with different prices trying to be charged on different occasions
Very unfriendly and poorly trained staff particularly reception and management level. This property is only a 2-3 star property and should be represented as this on your website

This is a beautiful hotel. My kids loved the pools and the playset. My husband and I loved the gym. Staff is very friendly. Food was great. Our room was large, beautiful and clean. We would definitely stay there again!

I will never stay at thia hotel again, and do not recommend that anyone else does either. There are so many good hotels in Addis Ababa to choose from and this unfortunately, is not one of them.
When I checked in, the staff person tried to charge my card again even though my room was already paid for through Expedia. He then proceeded to tell me that my booking was without breakfast included and that l would have to pay for this as well. My booking did indeed include my breakfast.
I got to me and my children's booked suite and it smelled of cigarette smoke, so I requested another room. They downgraded our room (which was a decent room, just not the one I paid for), even though I offered to pay for an upgrade. The manager kept trying to pressure me to go back into the room that smelled of smoke after the first night because it was "cleaned." As most people know, cigarette smoke cannot be cleaned out of a room in one day. I declined. Then, they tried to get me to move to "another room" which was also not an upgrade or equal to my original room. Only after complaining repeatedly to Expedia, did they offer me an upgrade for my last night which I declined because there was no reason to do this for the last night only. And furthermore, I did not want move from room to room to room on my holiday...with 2 children none the less.
All I asked for was a refund in the difference of the room prices. They declined!
This terrible hotel made my first experience in Ethiopia a headache.

The hotell is ok, but the sorroundings really poor. As a tourist it is not possible to walk outsidecthe hotell. You need to grab a taxi directly on the street, the niegbourhood dont feel safe at all.
The staff is amazing and the service is really good. The speed in the kitchen could be better, it takes very long time to get food. The pool are is nice but we needed to complain 3 days before the heated up the pool. Is was freezing cold in the pools.
Dont expect any internet, every second of working internet is a bonus..in one week we had maximum 10 minutes of working internet. The breakfast could be better, cold food in tha cantines, but the staff do their best..

The Nega Bonger Hotel is a please I would definitely return to. The staff works exceptionally hard to provide the best for their guests--which is a direction reflection of the manager--Daniel!

Great decor, common spaces and room size (I booked a suite). Shower is excellent with lots of pressure and hot water. Breakfast was very good. Wifi is slow but typical. My only complaint is the pool is dirty. I know they are working on it but ithe pool was disappointing because our kids said it was gross and wouldn’t use it. If they fixed the pool, this place would be near perfect. I will definitely stay here again.

A little noisy with music playing late some nights-wedding Otty but not advised of it happening prior to occasion to allow us a little warning
Due to no air con had to open balcony door and got bitten badly from mosquitos-a mosquito net above beds or at door would be beneficial if no air con available

Clean and comfy rooms. Very nice bathroom. Good restaurant for traditional and other foods. Hearty breakfast buffet was included with hotel very friendly staff. Nice swimming pool. Gym facilities. Cozy bar for beers and drinks. Large outdoor seating areas. Low rates. The Nega Bonger is our new go to hotel in Addis.

Reception was efficient and effective, with good service levels.
The room is very tastefully decorated and reasonably well equipped. It was clean and well serviced. Our room faced the road and suffered significant noise levels. Rooms that face the pool would probably be better situated.
The breakfast itself was pleasant although the organisation and service could be chaotic.
The WiFi was very poor, but this is symptomatic of Africa's infrastructure rather than any fault of the hotel. I only mention it in order to manage future expectations.
The pool area was pleasant and receives direct sunshine all day. The pool bar was sadly closed so do not count on being able to make good use of it. The hotel bar is only slightly further away though, although you might feel odd strolling through the hotel in swimming gear.
The restaurant served decent food at reasonable prices. The menu was very Ethiopian, but why would anyone be foolish enough to fly half way around the world in order to eat what they can get at home. I enjoyed everything I had.
The service was always friendly and generally efficient, although occasionally staff were slow to approach and the guest was left wondering whether to serve oneself or call somebody over.
It was our first visit to Addis Ababa, and indeed to Ethiopia, so I have no terms of reference, but I have absolutely no reason not to stay here on a subsequent visit, and having read reviews of other hotels, this would again be my first choice.

We were here December 30-January 1st. I loved the décor of the hotel and the hotel room. The staff were super friendly. The hotel is near the subway station. My son loved the pool.

Excellent stay at Nega Bonger and outstanding value for money - not central its about a 15mins drive into the city (with no traffic) but cheap in cabs if needed and close by to the airport.
Room quality is fantastic, lobby, restaurant and bar is stylish but kept a african feel - food was great and not expensive so excellent value for money - The pool area is great and clean, the only suggested improvement is in the day more loungers and the main pool needs to be heated it is very cold!! But a fab outside space!
The steam/ sauna and spa facilities are also exceptional.
The area has lots of husstle and bustle in the day/ eveninh with a local market near by and plenty of cabs outside - the tram stop to the city is also just up the road (3 minute walk). At night it is silent!
I travel the world often for both work and pleasure and i must say this hotel was a lucky find - I was that impressed I even booked local friends in to stay for the night also!
Well done Nega Bonger team! You have a hidden gem!

Friendly staff. Nice food good facilities, pool view and greenery. Spent 10 days there it was very nice and clean. But bring music or some entertainment with you especially if you have children. Learn to speak Amharic this will help a lot. Simple greeting so you can communicate with them.
