This hotel was absolutely worth the price - our room was immaculately cleaned and even better than the photos we saw. The property is very quiet and relaxing and the breakfast was very good. Would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely place, clean and quiet with everything you need. View from the rooms to lake is really great. Breakfast included which had a good variety of fresh and even some hot food too!

We loved our stay at Magma. It's a beautiful property with lovely rooms and restaurant. Breakfast was fairly standard but the beautiful dining room made it even better. The location is great for a south coast road trip. Would definitely stay here again!

We had a magnificent stay here. The rooms are clean, lovely, the views were spectacular, and the staff were extremely accommodating and nice. Food was amazing too! All around five stars.

This was my second stay at this hotel - and the rooms are so well designed and stylish! Since my last stay (in 2021) however, there has been an expansion and more new cabins have been added up above the original 10-15 down by the lower pond. I understand there are plans for further expansion too - a traditional hotel building. While it is still above average for hotels in this area, I'd suggest more attention or care to landscaping around the outside/front of the upper cabins for more "curb appeal." My partner also noted some degradations on the breakfast buffet - what happened to the smoke salmon? Overall, love the design and comfort of the rooms - SO cozy. Check in.

We had a nice stay here at Magma Hotel. We spent two nights in Dec '23 and used this as a home-base for short trips to the south coast of Iceland to see Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach, and to do some ice-cave sight seeing.
The Hotel was nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, but there was some wear-and-tear on the finishes that needs to be fixed. This is a "builders grade" hotel. Nothing too fancy and not put together with precision.
Restaurant was good for dinner. The breakfast buffet was OK.
I would definitely stay here again for the same purpose. It was a good value.

Beautiful property next to a pond and hills of lovely scenery. The onsite evening dining was superb and we appreciated the breakfast spread. It was nice to be separate from other apartments to cut down on noise. Our only issue was that the thermostat was locked to a temp that was too warm for sleeping, but we cracked the sliding glass door and didn't have an issue. Very comfortable beds and nice shower. We'd definitely stay again without hesitation.

Our favourite accommodation during our 2 week trip in Iceland. Very modern, spacious and warm. The view was magnificent and very tranquil. Breakfast was great.

Lovely area, room looking out onto a lake, and lovely restaurant on premises (with a very tasty lobster soup). Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Magma Hotel is comprised of a group of individual bungalows in a beautiful setting. The accommodations are beautifully decorated and spotless.
The surroundings and the lake evoke relaxation, peacefulness and privacy. I am hoping to return there some day.

Magma Hotel was a welcomed reprieve from the pouring rain and windy weather during our stay. The room was perfect. Beautifully furnished, immaculately clean, with all the amenities one could need for a short stay. Unfortunately, the area had gotten a lot of rain and our patio door had a leak. While we did have water across the floor along the outer wall, the issue was quickly resolved as best as possible by the staff. The rooms were reasonably priced for a quiet stay with a countryside view - we'd happily stay again should we return to the area!

Beautiful rooms in small standalone buildings, gorgeous windows and a view of a peaceful pond. Would love to have had more than one night. But for dinner try someplace else, wasn't very good. Other options in town.

The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The hotel doesn’t have very much information about what to do around the area or any tours. It made dinner plans a little tricky and we had to rely on google for glacier walks.

The location is perfect. We saw aurora here and the staff who were very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable about location of aurora. Thank you so much. The breakfast was delicious. We made reservation for dinner and the meal was delicious. Definitely will come back.

The staff actually knocked on our door to let us know about Northern lights activity. Great location and view from the room. I would recommend it.

service is bad. rude and empathetic people. The chef behaves as if he were at the helm of a Michelin, and the staff is not up to par with what this hotel once was.
The water isn’t enough for two people. And the bath heater was just one decoration. Tragic!

Our room was very nice and clean with a great view. The included breakfast had many delicious options. We expressed our interest in seeing the aurora borealis and they went out of their way to call us that night to tell us to go outside when it was visible.

We arrived late at this property and had to leave early the next morning but the key was left in our cabin door and we had a great sleep! The individual cabins are clean, well designed and very modern, and they were well appointed with everything we needed. We also had a great view of the lake. The breakfast was decent and it was about a 45 min- 1 hour long drive to Skafatell National Park. I have no problem recommending this hotel, and would happily stay here again on a future trip to Iceland.

Such an amazing find after a long day of exploring and driving - the pictures do not do this place justice -it is so neat to drive into - each cabin positioned perfect on the lack over looking icelandic ponies. The food was amazing! We arrived for dinner and loved the preparation of the artic char! Breakfast was bountiful. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing stay at the Magma Hotel! If you’re in Iceland I absolutely recommend! Check in/out was seamless, the staff was great. The Food here is excellent, I recommend getting dinner here as well!
