me and my wife stayed there for 2 nights. It was our first days in japan and the service they gave us was outstanding. Genuine good people was the vibe.

We loved our stay here! It had such a beautiful, peaceful, Japanese vibe. The bed was super comfortable, and instead of traditional hotel robes there were lovely kimono-style robes to wear, and a tatami mat living room with low table and pillows. We wanted a traditional ryokan experience, and this was it!

Very beautiful room. Feels like a room that you can only get in Japan and not anywhere else in the world. Within walking distance to Nishiki market.

Just a turn away from a busy kyoto downtown street and there was village kimarachi. Such an idyllic, peaceful, beautiful and a welcoming sight. The staff was very helpful and kind. We were very taken by the sincerity of the staff. It created such a warm and cozy atmosphere. The villa type room/house itself was very beautiful. After a long day exploring the city the outdoor tub was just the thing. I was a little worried about the hardness of sleeping on a matress on the tatami but I actually had a really sound and restful sleep! Wakin up to the sun shining thru the ricepaper doors was just an amazing way to start the day. Breakfast bento was quite simple but very tasty, nothing to complain and well worth the money. Stayed just one night on our way from Osaka to Tokyo but me and my friend both agreed it was one of the highlights of the trip.

Absolutely magical retreat in the middle of the city. Staff was kind and patient with check-in, explaining the features of our room, and letting us leave our luggage after check-out for a few hours. Grounds are tranquil and gorgeous, and the room was serene and well designed. Outdoor shower and soaking tub were A !

My girlfriend and I decided to spend one night at Village Kiramachi during our stay in the Kyoto area. It is strategically located if you want to go around and visit the main spots of the city. The staff is great, very welcoming, efficient and helpful. The room itself is very spacious and comfy. If you ever decide to stay there, I would also suggest you order in advance their amazing breakfast.

To put it simply my stay at Village Kiramachi completely blew away my expectations. The room/property is beautiful and well maintained , the staff is all very friendly and can speak both Japanese and English ,the property is located very nicely in relation to major shopping areas and the local train station. Another interesting this was that this property also offers a tasty breakfast for 2200Yen and a chance to experience a Japanese Tea ceremony for FREE!
One thing I really liked was that one the first day the staff went out of their way to make sure that I knew how to get around Kyoto and showed me where the best places to tour/eat were.
Lastly all the staff I interacted with all spoke both Japanese and English well (especially Naru). As someone currently learning the language, this made things easier for me when I got stuck in Japanese and I really appreciated this.

The cobblestone street was very unique, located in the middle of a busy City block. It was close to both subway station and public bus stop.

Our stay at Village Kiramachi was outstanding. From the beautiful accommodations to the incredible service, we were wowed from beginning to end. The bento box breakfasts for purchase are also delicious and I would recommend doing them at least once for the experience as well as convenience of having a wonderful meal in your own accommodations. Five stars!

Amazing traditional ryokan in Kyoto! We stayed in the room with the balcony and loved relaxing out there before OR after a day of shopping and walking around. The Main Street is walkable to shopping and Gion and you turn off to this lovely quiet traditional street to this ryokan. There are also ramen and other popular eats in the neighborhood. Aside from our room being clean and spacious, the service was top notch. The staff is pretty fluent in English and answered all our questions quickly (even through the hotels booking site). She also provided excellent dinner recommendations (even helped us book them)! At the end of our stay, we also got a ride to Kyoto station. We highly recommend this place to stay!

The ryokan is lovely, the staff was super nice and the room with outdoor shower and bathtub great. A great stay in the two floor ryokan. About a 10 minute walk from the Nishiki Market so eventhough in a busier area, still not too far from the nice little streets.

Excellent. Staff, Location, Room... exceptional. If your looking for a stay that you will remember, this is as far as you need to look. Highly recommend

The personal attention they showered us, helped with calling the airline for personal issues, assisted in finding the pottery fair that was going on in Kyoto. A nice surprise consisting of a free Japanese style breakfast, tea ceremony and a car ride to Kyoto station on our way back to Tokyo. Very nice and warm staff.

Village Kiramachi was an amazing experience. My wife and I stayed there for 6 nights during our honeymoon. The staff were incredibly nice and accommodating, the hotel (ryokan) itself is a work of art, the neighborhood is a gem, the one complimentary Japanese breakfast was excellent, and the price is very reasonable compared to other ryokans in Kyoto. We stayed during a great time -- Gion Festival in July, which had a number of parade events just around the corner. Our stay took place in both a standard room, and then an upgraded suite with outdoor garden/soaking tub, both of which were impeccably designed with incredible attention to detail -- the recessed lighting, soft wood floors, garden scenery, even the scent stick diffusers, were all top notch. I also had the fortunate pleasure of meeting the architect / construction expert who built the facility, who happened to be on site working on expansions, which allowed me to learn more about the process, history, and design behind the traditional elements of the hotel facility. To top it all off, one of the hotel staff, who happened to have a car, was kind enough to drop us off at the train station when we left. We truly could not have asked for more!

nice, quiet and pretty, not far from subway stations, a few late night restaurants around.

It’s a little tricky to find Village Kiramachi, but it is in an excellent location in Kyoto for seeing the sights. If Japan is known for small guest spaces, Village Kiramachi breaks the mold: we had two full US-sized bathrooms, two sitting spaces (living rooms), and our sleeping room! These accommodations are on two floors. My only complaint is that the staircase between them is ladder-like. You might be sorry not to have a spa-like bath or pajamas here, but that wasn’t an issue for me.

Beautiful accommodations and amazing hosts. Helped with local recommendations and arranged luggage transfer. We greatly enjoyed our time at Village Kiramachi.

This is a wonderful space, hidden away in a small street, quiet, and of the utmost charm. Early morning tea, traditional ceremony, wa arranged on our arrival. Japanese breakfast was provided the first morning, though not the next morning. when we expressed surprise, as westerners might be prone to presume breakfast would be provided every morning, the staff member noted that slight dismay and did arrange for breakfast to be provided free of charge, a bare minute or two later. Very elegant and professional!
