Honestly wish we could have spent more time here. We arrived after dark and pulled up to the office which was closed. Since there had been no email or phone call regarding late check ins, I knew there would be a way to get into our room! Tucked into a mailbox were envelopes labeled with each guest’s name and a key. We followed the map to our cabin and were delighted to discover it was very clean and cozy. Since WiFi is limited to the close proximity of the office, we wandered back down there and were able to let our families at home know that we had arrived but would be unavailable since we would not have service all night. We promptly went to bed, got up early and headed out before sunrise. We were sad to never actually see the surroundings of our cabin and hope to be back! The only suggestion I would make is to add a very conspicuous note on the map to the various cabins that it is not to scale AT ALL. Since it is a dark sky area, roads are difficult to see and we had some trouble finding our cabin. Since we were all women in our group, that was a little nerve wracking.

Bedroom was comfortable, with cute, rustic furniture. Bathroom was in rough condition with a tub that had been painted and was peeling, and faucets that were loose and squeaky, but at least they did not leak.
Only ate once at Bad Rabbit Cafe. Pancakes seemed to be made from cake batter, and service was inefficient.
Location is reasonably convenient to Big Bend National Park.

Such a beautiful retreat! This area is so peaceful with a welcoming community.

We stayed for two nights so that we could visit Big Bend for a day over spring break. All of the staff were so friendly! The cafe was good. The room was comfortable and minimal which was fine with us because we wanted to unplug a little. WiFi is available and it was decent as well. The area has no cell service which was fine with us as well. The ranch is 16 miles from the main road but along the road we frequently saw deer and other wildlife which was fun. The last 3 miles was all washboard dirt road which drove my husband crazy but it didn’t bother me. Overall it was a nice stay and so peaceful.

Terrible place, we will never come back! Room was completely dirty with hairs left from previous guests everywhere. Moreover they advertise they offer equitation activities and this is not true! We checked out one day before the end of the reservation because we cannot stay more there and they refused to refund. No comment!

We enjoyed our stay but travelers need to be aware of the long 16 mile trek to get to the main road, part of which is unpaved. There's a lot of noise from fellow travelers, particularly those families with children. There's a lot of people driving around in cars until about 10 pm when it finally gets quiet. Stars are fantastic here, bring some binoculars! Cabins are 4-plex units, so noisy kids are a problem. Bathroom was a bit dated but finctional. Wifi was better than expected, we got a decent signal sometimes. Management folks are super friendly and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our time here. Didn't try their dining and bar facilities. Can't comment on those.

A bit out of the way, but quiet at night. Great place to see the stars at night. Service was great, rooms were clean. Food at the cafe is excellent.

We stayed 5 days and loved it here .. staff were super friendly and welcoming…the cafe (onsite) was really good .. the rooms were spacious and beds were super comfortable and I had a nice view of the mountains from my bed which I loved.… it was a little drive to actually big bend park but the views made up for it .. we were 1st timers. so we loved every moment of it.

Our favorite part of staying at Terlingua Ranch lodge was the view outside our door. The staff in the office and also at Bad Rabbit cafe are excellent. The only thing that was difficult was it was farther away from Big Bend National Park and was a long drive into the park each day. Otherwise, the place was comfortable and nice.

Don’t stay here. It’s in the middle of nowhere. Off a dirt road. No lighting so finding your building in dark is impossible. No cell service, no TV, no coffee available. Way too far from Big Bend if you go in/out of the park over multiple days. Room was old and very outdated. Closest gas is 45 mi. Away. Only food is their restaurant which has limited hours. It’s just a weird place all around.

It would be nice to have an electric kettle or microwave in the room. I couldn't drink warm water. The towels in the room were brown. But there were two other people's hair there.

The drive into the lodge from Texas 118 is challenging, especially the last three miles. Plan on about 30 minutes. Check-in staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was rustic, but comfortable. Only amenity was a refrigerator. No clock radio. Bad Rabbit Cafe was quite nice. PLEASANT wait staff, food and beers were really good. If you don't mind the isolation and a long drive into BigBend NP, then this is anice placee to stay.

Good location on our way to Big Bend National Park for a day at the start of a Southwest Road tour. Very scenic.

Overall we loved our stay. Check in Staff could have been bit more friendlier and welcoming. But restaurant staff was amazing. We loved the limited option food and the environment with live music.
Internet service was poor. When you are in an area where Mobile signals are Zero, Internet has to be good. Near RV parking, they had good Internet but in the Cottages there was barely a signal.
Also roads were very bad. Some of our cars got damaged. Definitely they should improve the roads.

It was an amazing stay at the ranch. Thank you for the hospitality!!

We loved the solitude and quiet…a the night sky was breathtaking. The bathroom was larger than we needed, nice towels, and I loved the detachable shower head. The mist challenging part was the long drive into Big Bend Park (one hour, at least). It was tolerable for the 2 full days we spent at the park, but if we were to do it again, or for more than 2 days, we would definitely get a room in Big Bend.

The staff was friendly and accommodating, the restaurant had a pretty simple menu although everything we tried was fresh and delicious, it was a pleasant surprise. The lodge is rustic so I understand that piece of it, no tv or microwave and internet is spotty in the room but there was a good connection in the restaurant. Perhaps a plumbing upgrade is in order. Interesting history to this place, take the time to read the binder in your room.

Property is about 40-50 minutes from Big Bend entrance. It was a nice place to stay, very clean and staff were super friendly. I loved the restaurant and that there was live music. Was even able to head to bunkhouse to check out some NFL games before sitting outside and looking at the stars. With a 10pm lights out, the whole place will come alive at night. Even saw some javelina family!

With few other options on a very cold and windy night, it was a nice place to sleep and have a shower instead of tent camping. Very long drive from town and any Big Bend activities, though.

This place is awesome. Great little cabins and there’s fun places to walk and see on the property. I’d gladly go back. I only left there 15 hours ago and I’m ready to go back.

Beautiful remote location, but lacks basic comforts expected in a hotel room in the desert: a low flow shower head, hot water, a towel for each of us, a place to put a suitcase or clothes, clothes hangers, a fan in the toilet room, WiFi all day, a chair... Not horrible, just below average in almost every possible way.

The property was very quiet. Have everything you need for your stay. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely go back.

Enjoy the local folks at Mad Rabbit Cafe. Good food.

Great property with so much cool history. The javalinas wander around in the morning looking for food and are unbothered by the guests. The food at the bad rabbit was great and staff very friendly.
One small negative was that the cabins have thin walls so you can hear your snoring neighbors. That won’t deter me from coming back though.

Very isolated location-16 miles from highway with last 3 miles being a dirt road. Nice large room with 2 queen beds. This is a dark sky area which was awesome. Very quiet. Food in restaurant was good and reasonable. Only drawback was thin walls between units.

This property is wonderful. If you want to see the Christmas mountains from your door, stay here. Staff is very friendly. The restaurant doesn't have the biggest menu, but what is on it is cooked well. It's a bit out of the way but worth it if you are looking for a quiet place to stay with it's own charm and views. You can go directly into Big Bend NP by Marathon road, know that it's unpaved though. We went into Big Bend from Marathon road and the way through Terlingua itself. Both take about an hour. Great place I will make future trips.

Nice and secluded from the town. The food and service in the restaurant is awesome

If you truly want to get away from it all this is the place. Quite and beautiful sitting on the porches watching the stars or sunsets.
While it is off the beaten path, you’re in big bend and all of it is far from most.
The staff is friendly and the cafe was a nice place to grab grub and a frosty beverage after exploring the national park.
Keep in mind, this is in the desert, so you have to set proper expectations. Everything is far away and cell service is non existent. For me it was a plus. They do however have WiFi in the cabins and the cafe.
The cabins are a bit dated but again, you’re on a ranch in the desert. If you need 5 star accommodation, big bend of Texas probably isn’t for you.
If you want a clean place to stay and unwind after big bend, this is a great option.

We used TRL as a base station for exploring Big Bend National Park and stayed in a cabin. They unit was older but reasonably maintained, especially for the remote location. Due to the distance to BBNP, we left before sunrise and returned after dark every day, so we were not able to utilize any of the lodge amenities such as the pool or Bad Rabbit Cafe. For basic accommodations, the TRL was a comfortable place to rest. WiFi was a big plus!
Tip: Turn the wall mounted HVAC system off from energy saver mode unless you don't mind hearing it turn on and off all night!

Road to get to property is half way paved. No convenience stores near by. Those are the only cons. Otherwise, it was a great outdoor experience.

If you want to escape from City life, this is the place to do it. Super friendly staff in the absolute middle of nowhere. It is very far removed from everything and takes about 25 minutes to get to the Terlingua ghost town. Great little restaurant on the premises. Strong wifi connection, which is the only way to stay in touch with the outside world due to lack of cell phone service. Bring a book and check out stars.
