First I want to write about "the city that does not exist" (Gabriel Garcia Marques), Mompox. It's more about the atmosphere than what you're going to do. Time, and what is outside, does not exist. It is a condition. Walk around and enjoy being in Gabi's books, instead of river boat and guiding. Get away from the river, Carrera 1 and overpriced tourist traps. Go where Colombians are! Why the city prioritizes offering pizza and hamburgers, ahead of Garcia Marques and "realismo magico" is completely incomprehensible to me. I was lucky! The city's carnival, for them, is a wonderful gathering of children and young people's joy, smiles and dancing. I will never forget it. Hotel Archangelus is a fantastic place to get into the atmosphere of Mompox. Colonial style. High under the roof. Heavy wooden doors. Large ceiling fans. A nice little back garden. Nice people. If you smile, they smile back.

L’hôtel est très beau et la chambre très confortable. L’emplacement à deux minutes du fleuve est idéal.

Nous n’avons pas trouvé le personnel très arrangeant et ils n’ont pas très bien communiqué avec nous : nous sommes arrivées très tôt le matin et on nous a directement emmenées à nos chambres - ce dont nous étions arrivées. Mais c’est seulement au check-in dans l’après-midi que l’on nous a informé que le fait d’avoir occupé la chambre plus tôt avait un coût (nous avons chacune payé un early check-in alors que nous n’avions qu’une chambre). Nous aurions aimé en être informées au préalable - d’autant que l’hôtel était vide. Nous comprenons qu’il y ait un coût mais celuici doit être communiqué en amont. Le dernier jour, nous devions partir tôt et rien ne nous a été proposé pour le petit dej - pourtant inclus dans le prix de la chambre. Enfin, alors que nous avons passé 10 minutes dans le lobby à attendre notre transport, ils ont attendu que l’ont ait nos sacs sur le dos pour nous dire qu’on leur devait deux bouteilles d’eau (que nous avions partout demandé à régler sur le moment).

Locatie is goed, zeer rustig en centraal. Avond/nacht bewaking is een zeer aangename leuke jonge man. Het is een prima plek.

Kamer is eenvoudig. Douche 1 temperatuur. Je hoort alles van je buren.

Stylish rooms in an old and beautifullybrestored house, very modern fittings, great AC, friendly staff and perfect location right in the middle of the old colonial city. Great place overall !

A homely place where one can spend the afternoon siestas on the patio rocking chairs in dreams or a Garcia Marquez novel. But then, "Mompox doesn't exist!" The staff are very kind and helpful. Manageress Agnes helped me with information and booking of the cienaga tour expeditiously. Housekeeper Celestine prepared a simple hot breakfast for me when I checked-out at 0530h.

I recommend Archelangus hotel to anyone visiting the lovely town of Mompos. It's very central which is very nice. The personnel was remarkable in its helpful ways. The breakfast was stellar and the staff did all they could to make me feel welcome.
