It’s a beautiful location. The hotel carpets were filthy. The tub had a dirt ring around it.

Nice view and room. Room wasn’t restocked with towels and cups. Was able to remedy at front desk. Unable to view restaurant menu. No fridge in room.

Not the cleanest, some staff was super friendly while others were very rude, asked for more towelssince only 2 in room and was given trouble. Asked if they had shampoo as only conditioner was providrd, Said it was a CONVIENCE not something they were required to provide so drove i to town and got my own. Ok fine but the attitude was too much.
Onsite beach was nice but very windy when we were there so didnt use it much.

My stay was disappointing ,booked room for pool there was none,no restaurant was closed,no microwave or refrigerator in the rooms, misleads you was not on website ,everything would be missing,so won't be back until it's fixed ,nature was there and beach ,but that's free

Our family of 6 thought it was a Great location. Close to Bristol Renaissance Faire. Highly recommend Iguana Wana Mexican Grill 20 minutes away. Having no microwave or refrigerator was disappointing. Ice machine was always full though. Pool is not open yet, but we knew that before we booked. Breakfast is $25 a person plus tax and tip. Room was clean and good size. Beds were nice. Loved the beach front access Water is too cold to swim in July, but we still enjoyed the rocky beach. We would come back again.

We wanted family time on the beach. This was perfect for that, and the price was good.

I am a photographer always looking for hotels near beautiful scenery. The Illinois Beach Hotel has the most beautiful sunrises and grounds. The vibe is peaceful and relaxing. Awesome service and exceptional staff. John at the front desk is helpful, friendly, professional and I would definitely rate him as one of the top front desk staff people that I have encountered on my many trips. My only disappointment was that the restaurant is not open early in the week. I ate there on one of my trips and the food was awesome! Perfect place for families and for singles. I love the feeling of calm that I get sitting on the sand near the lakeshore. Will be back many times!

The beach and trail proximity were nice. Patio space was nice. The cleanliness of the room was disappointing with some garbage and towels left on shelves in the main room.

We loved the location, people and rooms. We wished we could of stayed longer. We can’t wait to go back soon.

The reason to stay here is that it is on Lake Michigan with very nice hiking, biking, and beach activities located within the huge Illinois Beach State Park. Hotel is old and is a renovation project right now but with staff is nice and trying hard.
With a bit of rennovation snd enhanced seevices this could easily evolve to a 4 or more star hotel. Definitely a real diamond in the rough. Definitely will come back. Unique. Best days weds through sunday afternoon.
Restaurant and bar not open Sunday Pm through Teusday
Pool not open yet but will be nice when is.

Location is wonderful but property could use some TLC. Price was low and on point for the premises. Breakfast bar was really, really expensive, go to McDonald's down the street.

The room is clean although the toilet and the sink in the bathroom are clogged which is really disappointing..Also they are always running out of towels! They only gave us 2 towels for 4 guests, good thing i have extra towel for my kids. Staff are nice though..

I was happy with the option of late check-in but wished there was an option for early check-in if the room is available. It was an awesome surprise that the hotel actually borders Lake Michigan. I did not really pay too much attention to the details when I booked it as a last-minute stay. My kids and I woke up early to watch the sunrise over the lake and my 7year-old loved it so much, he insisted we repeat this trip, especially watching the sunrise over the lake again. A mini-fridge and microwave in the room would be a great addition. We have already booked out next stay!

Our bathroom wasn't the cleanest. Men's shaving hairs on shelf in bath tub area. Only had 2 sets of towels & nowhere to hang them to dry.

Breakfast buffet was ridiculously expensive $25.99

The property was good overall. But, the cost of food was excessaviously high.

Checked in for a king lake view. It was really a king roof and ventilation view. Manager, Lisa did her best and got us a much better room with a view.
The restaurant on site was a mass of confusion. 35 minutes and we needed to track down a server. Then no water after 15. Then another 10 until the food and water came. Never saw a waiter again.
In the morning the manager tried to make up for dinner, but the restaurant closed before 10 am.
I won’t return until they get their staffing and service in order.

Such a great location! But unfortunately the restaurant was barely open, our room didnt have a mini fridge or microwave, and our air conditioner leaked so bad the floor was soaked and soaked our bags. It was obvious they knew becauae there was a powder down to either absorb or hide the smell of mold. Too bad because it could be so great there. The view from our room was of a moldy old pool they dont use anymore :/ probably wouldnt have been so bad if me and my daughter werent allergic to mold and had ti use our inhalers the 3 night stay.

This is our 3rd time staying at the hotel. First time was when we got married there 5 years ago. It was a wonderful experience, so we returned just as everything was opening back up after Covid on NYE 2020. It was a good stay, no restaurant, but the pool was open, so it was nice. This past weekend was for our 5-year anniversary.
The grounds are nice, but they used to be much prettier. Our check-in was fast and simple, desk staff was okay — but could’ve been nicer. We stayed in room 101, which was sort of clean — the carpet was dirty and the bathroom was extremely outdated and worn-out. We got 1 roll of toilet paper, 1 bath towel & 1 hand towel in a king suite. The bed was comfy, but the linens were itchy. The view was pretty & the balcony was nice. We got four small drinks from the cooler and paid $37.50, so that was kind of a ripoff.
We had breakfast at the bar the next morning. It was too expensive for the quality of food, but it was a buffet, and there was bacon, plus the bartender was very nice, so it was fine.
It’s an okay place. Nothing like it was, but I heard it’s under new management after a bad flood last year, so we’ll see. We had a good time and we’ll be back because we’re nostalgic, but it needs improvements on many levels.

I experienced a bit of a hiccup at check in, but the staff at the hotel did an amazing job of correcting the issue. I was very impressed with their service. I would happily go back!

Illinois Beach Hotel has an amazing location and we love the layout of the hotel. It is definitely an aged property and they've made an effort to update it but still needs some work. The indoor pool and hot tub are under renovation which hurts the experience a little but being on the lake with breath-taking sunrise views helps. There seems to be a staff shortage but the employees working there were great - a shout-out to Natalie, Renita and Catherine who all made our stay one to remember. Thank you! Looking forward to our next stay.

The pool has been closed for a long time and it appears it will not open soon. Hotel was nearly empty and yet internet was slow and cut out

check in was disappointing, desk customer service was not greeted when approached desk just said Name? then we paid extra for a lake view room and we get to our room and we have a view of the top of the building and we can see the lake if we sit on the table in the corner of the room, we asked to switch rooms and was able to thankfully, so room was better, pool and hot tub are broke down not even filled so that was disappointing, way over priced for this hotel we will not be back, we stayed here years ago and it was great pool was nice but not now to much money for this place

This hotel is located right next to the beach in a beautiful natural area. The staff is fantastic, helpful and warm and the rooms are comfortable. The only downside is that they’re not soundproof, so you can hear doors slamming, full conversations in the adjoining room, etc. Overall, though, it’s a fantastic place and we’ll be back again!

They are under new management and are trying to rebuild. The house keeping was lousy; loud banging doors, the room was not cleaned when we got there, nor for the length of our stay.
It was a beautiful space, and I hope they get better as time goes by.
It didn't have a refrigerator in the room and they had to bring one.
The sheets and towels smelled fresh and clean. The shower head is amazing.
It was a very mixed bag.

I'm so glad it re-opened! This is my zen getaway spot. It's peaceful and the lake views and nature trails are great places to think and reflect. The facility older and has had a little storm damage but they are doing repairs. And the areas that have been finished are beautiful. In the summer I know it gets super busy but the Spring and Fall are perfect if you want a quiet getaway.

Visiting friends in the area. Stayed 2 nights and found the staff to be very friendly. Room was very clean and quiet. The pool and restaurant were not open when we were there so cannot comment on those features. Didn’t have a frig or microwave in the room but we didn’t need these either. For what we needed, it was perfect and we will stay there again

We enjoyed our stay. Customer service was great! After we received our room. We requested another room with a balcony for better view and the staff got us another room but the tv was not connected so they gave us another room. Tv worked, had a balcony with an awesome view of Lake Michigan. Room/bathroom was clean and comfortable. We would stay there again!

Other than no fridge or microwave in the room, really nice hotel with Great Lake views.

I like the staff as they were very friendly and courteous. The rooms were clean and new. The rooms however are not all equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. The staff said you must request that when you check in

The room had an amazing view. The food was great. It was a lil get for my hubby and I. We had amazing weekend. We will be back.

I have fond memories of this area from growing up in a nearby town hiking and camping at the state park, and spending time with my grandparents at the resort. A few weeks ago, I went out of my way to patron this small business while in-town during a family wedding.
Overall, our stay was adequate (sans the dated "renovations" and slightly smoke smell from years past) but uneventful.
However, my issues began after check-out. My reservation was pre-paid ($150 thru Expedia) and a standard hold on my debit card was placed ($116) Regardless of this fact, the hold on the card (for incidentals) was processed ($105) the day after I checked out.
Since then, I've called the hotel nearly 15 times this week to get in touch with someone. The front desk reps have been friendly and helpful as best they can, however, they do not have the authorization to refund the measly $100. Whatever, I get it, I'm also a customer service rep, so I'm being understanding in their limitations.
I was extremely patient during the middle of the week when I called and was told the whole system was down, and the refund would be processed soon (by the mysterious "manager" themself.)
When I requested to be cc'd on an email to the manager from the front desk earlier today, I was told that was not possible.
The final issue is that in those 15 times, over half the time my call was throttled to the voicemail line, which is perfectly fine...however, there's no place/prompt to leave a voicemail.

My room was clean and quiet and there are wonderful views of the lake and beach. Lots of hiking trails with abundant wildlife. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful location right on the shore of Lake Michigan, with easy access to many nature walks. Staff was also very friendly.
