The location was quiet over looking the bowling green in what can be a busy town (due to ferries).
It was only a continental breakfast - however excellently presented on cake stand similar to an afternoon tea, so quirky and easily memorable. Would have no hesitation suggesting it to family and friends if they needed accommodation in the area,

What for a charming and stylish decorated room - and it has been topped by the view over Oban and it's shore (if there is no fog). We loved this house and the spirit of Ian and his very kind wife. We slept very well and would surprised with great and perfect presented breakfast. It couldn't be any better, thank's.

Lovely breakfast and great location. Our bed was very soft if a little too soft for my partner's back! Our hosts were both very accommodating and kind.

Great host friendly and welcoming, loved the room with a view , honestly could have sat and stared out at the beautiful view for another few days . Room was immaculate and decor superb. Fantastic getaway highly recommend . Only five minutes from oban centre . Breakfast was top notch , great night's sleep what more can you ask for .

The bed was really comfortable, room was spacious HOWEVER let down by no bath, a v small bathroom which HAS NO SINK OR MIRROR IN IT! You have to use a sink basin in the actual room which is disruptive. Oban as a town is great.
Sadly quite a few things. Our room wasn't cleaned at all. The owner entered to get the breakfast form (consented!) & Next day then complained we left a light on - weirdly invasive. BREAKFAST WAS REALLY TERRIBLE. Both quality and service. We were harranged what felt constantly to choose the next day's breakfast choice. I understand this matters but calling us at dinner, texting us and then asking for the next day's one BEFORE we'd even sat to day 1s breakfast was uncomfortable and weird. At breakfast, we were told the LATEST slot was 08.30am (despite 9am being advertised) which is a tad early anyhow. We ordered some cereal, fruit and eggs/salmon. The cereal wasn't given, neither was the fruit, and we had to SHARE 1 orange juice. We requested more OJ, it didn't come. The smoked salmon and eggs was more like fishy wet omelette as it was chopped and mixed in - spew. I asked about it and was told that's all I was getting - eventually I got given a banana. After a huge drive that's shocking at over £100 per night(!) It was all so awkward we just asked for a takeaway packed breakfast and avoided it. Sadly this lack of service ruined our stay.

The host Ian was fantastic. He allowed us to park the car so we could explore the town until the room was ready. He also gave information about the town and surrounding islands.
The location was great for us as it is right next to town. The breakfast choice was good and nicely cooked.
Our room on the top floor had fabulous views of Oban and surrounding islands. The room was comfortable.
Would we stay here again? yes definitely.

We had a lovely stay at the Hawthornbank Guest house. The room was very clean with very comfy and warm bed. Very good WiFi. Ian is a very friendly and caring host. The cooked breakfast was lovely.
The guesthouse is located within 15 minutes of walk from the ferry terminal.
All in all excellent value for money.
