About this cottage rental
Located in Huntsville, this charming cottage for $235 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Look no further. This rustic generational cottage on beautiful Mary Lake can sleep up to 6 people comfortably, and allows you to enjoy all the beauty of Muskoka from a very desirable and convenient location between Huntsville and Port Sydney. If you are looking for a relaxing week in Muskoka, watching the deer or wild turkey walk by while you are drinking your morning coffee … look no further! Some details about our cottage – Bedrooms - There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom is equipped with a brand new king size bed, which has direct access onto the deck. The second bedroom has two single beds. The third bedroom has a unique flare – it is a separate access guest suite that has a queen size bed and a set of bunk beds which looks out directly onto the firepit. This suite is great if there are multiple families sharing the rental, which gives you some added privacy throughout your stay. Please ensure to supply your own linens and towels. Living / Bathroom - There is one full bathroom, as well as full laundry available. The bathroom is brand new, equipped with top of the line fixtures so you don't miss any of the comforts of home. There is a woodstove, along with Laz-Z-Boy furniture for your comfort. WiFi and Bell Satellite are available. A Napoleon barbecue is on site for your use as well as a Kuraig Coffee maker that takes pods or will make a pot of coffee from grounds. Water Access – the water access directly across from this cottage with a perfect hard sandy bottom for swimming, which is a shared access. There is no dock available for mooring a boat, but day use is available in Port Sydney. Port Sydney beach is also very close by and has a beautiful beach, docks and launch for day use of boats. Alternatively, Arrowhead Provincial Park is also close by with great amenities for day use. Firepit – there is an area for having those great campfire memories. On site, there are 6 brand new adirondack chairs for your use. We advise all renters to bring their own firewood, and enjoy the fire responsibly. Should you not want to cook over the open fire, there is a BBQ on site for your use. The location of the cottage couldn't be better. It is 5 minutes off Hwy 11, close to Huntsville, Port Sydney and Bracebridge. Take a drive into Port Sydney and enjoy their public beach, or take a ride down the rock falls! Head into Huntsville for dinner out, and come back to the cottage for s'mores! If I haven't answered all your questions, please feel free to message me. The area is beautiful & cottage as described. Could be cleaner - some hair, dusty bathroom counter, popcorn on floor. Biggest concern was the yellow water- like really yellow. Emailed homeowner to ask if it was safe to even cook with or bathe in, with no response . We had to go out and buy bottled water for cooking and drinking.
Keurig didn’t work , which meant the coffee pot didn’t either.
Also the baseboard heaters didn’t heat well- make sure you take wood for wood stove if it’s cold out.
We enjoyed our time, but likely wouldn’t choose this one again unless water issue was fixed .

Lake being so close to property was definitely a plus for us.
Place was not clean as we were expecting their were spider webs in whole house, dryer was completely filled with dust and few more things.

This quaint cottage was in a perfect location, close to everywhere you'd want to be in the Huntsville area. Beds were comfortable and bedrooms were spacious. The outdoor space was lovely and we enjoyed a lot of time out on the deck. The area was quiet and peaceful. Overall, enjoyed this location.

The property is very beautiful and well located. The amenities are good as advertised, except for the barbecue that was very dirty and its propane tank that was empty. The owner answered my questions about this and reimbursed us for refilling the tank. The shower and beds are very good. The access to the lake is steep, but manageable; you need to carry chairs and drinks, and the space is very limited (3 people max). We used one of the canoes multiple times. Carrying it up and down to the lake can be done by two fit people. We are very sensitive to smells, so we were happy that this place was clean and did not have any mold. Will definitely come back!

Stayed here for one week with husband and 4 kids. Mouse droppings on the kitchen counters and in cupboards on arrival. Cleaner had to return for mess thru out the house. Pots and pans rusted and dented unusable. Bbq wouldn’t light. Stove smoked out the house when lit. Coffee maker full of mold. MICE ran thru the living room and kitchen all night. Host said he wasn’t aware of mouse problem but multiple traps under kitchen sink. We had to set them up and trapped multiple mice. Husband had to take our disabled son home early after multiple nights of him not sleeping due to the stress of the mice infestation. House smells of wet dog and urine. Water access was not suitable and pictures are not of what it looks like currently and had to drive to public beach daily as we didn’t want to be in the house with all the mice everyday. Would not rent again!!! Host was made aware of issue and resent the cleaner said he would check in with us at end of the week. No follow up after this terrible week. This was our one trip this summer and this house was not for families. This house has been partied out and not set up for families. Everything is dirty and We feel ripped off and disappointed. This rental cost us eating out more then we wanted too and lots of gas as we had to drive to an actual beach we could hang out at. We spent all our summer vacation budget on this house and we’re left with 4 disappointed kids.

Little red was absolutely amazing! Aside from the family of ants that were in the ensuite room and the misperception of the lake being right outside the cottage me and my friend highly enjoyed this destination! We would definitely come back!

All information provided by the host was accurate. The entire cottage was clean and smelling fresh. Exactly what we were looking for to be up and close to Algonquin and Arrowhead.

The cabin was very clean and tidy. The kitchen very well stocked with everything you would need for cooking meals. Beds were very comfortable. However, lighting in the living, dining and kitchen was poor. I am an avid reader and enjoy a good book when away from home. Due to the lighting I could not read. A reading light and also a table lamp in the living room would be nice. Another area was the security cameras on the outside of the house. It was very intimidating to sit out on the deck knowing there was a camera on us. Therefore we did not wish to sit out there. We were only advised of the cameras after having booked the cabin. The listing should also make people aware to bring their own water.

Definitely not the owners fault for the weather. The place was small in the living area. Bedrooms a good size. Nice bathroom. There is still a lot of finishing work that needs to be done. Furniture could be updated. A gazebo over the picnic table. It’s nice and quiet. We had to bring our own bedding which was a hassle. Toilet was plugged but a plumber was called in quickly. Plumber said the toilet is not the proper toilet for the area. If the place was updated it would have been a live stay!!

This was exactly what we needed! We cozied up to a campfire, lounged in the living room,
enjoyed an early morning coffee on the deck, and we utilized the kitchen space for several meals. The kitchen was fully equipped which was lovely and the bathroom was clean, providing a refreshing, hot shower every morning.
Overall It was clean and inviting, quite charming really. I would stay there again.
A few things to fix : I hope the hallway light gets fixed along with the fan in the secondary bedroom, (we were disappointed to be down a fan at night.)
Also, a couple of the windows are broken, and that was a pain finding that out.

Loved the area! Very cute cabin. Only one bathroom and no air conditioning were the drawbacks for us. Also inside and outside seating areas not very comfortable; we are seniors who need some shade and a comfy chair if we sit outside.
Beds were amazingly comfortable though!

This place was perfect for a summer getaway. Beautiful location, lake access across the street, well equipped kitchen, clean and well appointed. Need to be able bodied to access lake from steep hill.

My friends and I (a group of 6) stayed at this location over the May 2-4 weekend and we had a great time. The property was clean and tidy and had a very welcoming atmosphere. The location was absolutely beautiful and calming. Communication with the owner was easy and stress-free. Overall great experience and would recommend it to friends and family. No disappointments within the group.

This cottage has a newly renovated, and fully stocked kitchen, new bathroom and floors, with all new appliances. The cottage is very comfortable and the back deck is a great place to hang out in the warm summer nights.
The three rooms are spacious enough to add play pens in each if needed. The back bunkhouse is only connected to the main house (and bathroom) by an external deck, but that didn't present much issue except to run to the bathroom in the middle of the night. About a 10 minute drive to a perfect beach, with shallow water for kids and a big dock to jump off of in Port Sydney, and about 15 mins to Huntsville.
The owner is super responsive and a pleasure to deal with. We will be back again next year!

When we got to the cottage it was beautiful so excited for our stay. Once we entered the building it was a different story. It had a bad smell, the blinds were broken and it wasnt very clean inside. It looked clean from first glance but the floors werent very clean my niece who is 9 months old was on the floor and here knees were so dirty after. My sister want to the washroom and there were lady products in the garbage and not just one. Every cottage ive stayed at the owner has given me there number and touched base with me upon avail to see how everything is going.

We had a great stay at the little red cottage. My daughter's are 6 and 8. Everyone had a blast, we had another couple stay with us, the cottage had everything we needed and more than enough sleeping areas. Would definitely stay again.

The water at the property in the bathroom + kitchen didn’t appear clean, it was yellow in colour . The bedrooms have carpet and it is difficult to clean . There was a small heater to heat the living room + kitchen which wasn’t very helpful. There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room to heat which wasn’t very helpful to us since we didn’t wanted a wood burning fire place(we don’t find it safe ) The lake is across the property but the path to get there is very steep and not safe at all if you have small kids . The foliage around the property is good. Most of the house is surrounded by windows which is helpful and you can view the outdoors from inside. The kitchen is well equipped .

Cottage was nice and cozy. My kids loved it there and it was a beautiful location and very peaceful. The only thing I would say is it could use a bit of a better cleaning but on the whole we enjoyed our stay and would go again.

The cottage was well-equipped and everything that it was advertised to be. Lovely quiet neighbourhood. I would definitely recommend this Cottage to anyone who was interested

The cottage was not clean. I did clean it myself to feel comfortable but I refused to use the vacuum it was dated. The carpets have to go, stained with dog pee and other smelly spots. I dont think the bedprotectors have been laundered. All in all it was not up to par and I paid $800 of extra fees that that was not outlined on the bill. Great area to be in. Oh and the canoes worked but were heavy and old and a bit broken with NO safety bag anywhere insight, thank goodness we did get a ticket from the boat authorities. Also the the lawn boy decided to mow on Saturday afternoon which was annoying considering he could have done it Friday before checkin.

We have stayed here twice now and it is such a wonderful cottage. The owner is really easy to get a hold of and is very nice. The cottage did have pet smell issues, due to the last rental before us I believe as it didn’t smell like wet dog the last time. It is a wonderful cottage though comfortable beds.

Our group of friends had a great vacation at this cottage. We found that the cleanliness of the cottage was lacking. The dishes, pots and pans were put away without being thoroughly cleaned and we had to rewash everything prior to using as there was dog hair and rotten food stuck on numerous items Access to the water was across the street and very convenient for swimming and cooling off in the summer heat.

Anticipating a 3 bedroom cottage, one bedroom was completely seperate with no access to the main cottage/bathroom. They need a new cleaning service as the cottage was fine on the surface but using the dishes, they were not very clean and the oven needed a good clean. Otherwise, a delightful location and we enjoyed the wood stove.. Blinds need to be replaced as some are broken.

The property was easy to get to. The owner had given very specific instructions. The house itself was clean and tidy, and as listed with 3 bedrooms. Our only surprises were that one of the bedrooms can only be reached from outside and has no inside access to the house. For our purposes this was fine. The other thing to note is that the taps in the bathroom are backwards. Cold on the left, hot on the right, but not marked that way. Overall we had a great stay and would seriously consider renting this property again and would definitely recommend it.

We found everything as it was advised and it is a really nice and quiet place! The cottage is fully loaded with all necessary staff what you need for a cooking, or relaxing! We enjoyed every moment and definiety recommend this cottage to everybody!
