Stayed 2 days 3 nights. Met our needs well. Perfect location to tour the Black Hills. Neighbors very close but no issues. The overall 4 star rating is only because we couldn’t get oven to work. Toaster oven saved the day!

The stove leaked raw propane and was not usable, had to open windows and put fan in kitchen to air out kitchen. The last night when we arrived back to rental the basement Living room & downstairs bathroom smelled of raw sewage! I texted the number of rental host she replied she was sorry & she texted the owner of the property and said it would get handled quickly. Apparently the home has a septic system? And it’s was full. Never did hear another word from the host regarding this issue, since we were checking out after a 7 day stay they decided to do nothing made for a nasty smelling home the last night there. The communication with the property Manager was painful regarding any information after the reservation was reserved and paid for as well. It’s unfortunate they choose to keep the property in such condition it’s in a real good location.

Great place close to downtown very clean and well stocked had wildlife every day fits four very well train to keystone 100 ydsaway. Downtown 5 blocks.

Check in was super easy. There were deer up to the house every night. We couldn't believe how great the location ended up being to everything we wanted to do throughout our stay. We loved that the 1880 Train was walking distance and so was going through Hill City. The AC being in the bedroom was sometimes problematic when the door was shut, the rest of the upstairs got warm some nights. Minor inconvenience. Comfy beds. Recommend!

We had a great stay at Madison Lodge! Great location, we could easily walk into downtown Hill City and central to a lot of Black Hills attractions. We loved sitting out on the deck to wind down from the day!

We had a wonderful experience in Hill city. The lodge was great for our family road trip. It was located near all the sites we wanted to see. We had space to relax and get ready for the next adventure. The local grocery store was great too.

This is our 3rd summer at the Madison Lodge. The property is located a few short blocks from downtown, which makes it easy to walk. The property has a pretty view off of the deck and a the kitchen has everything you need. The lane is approx 75 yards of gravel, but it’s well packed. We haven’t ever had issues with motorcycles before.

The location was wonderful! Was able to walk to local attractions. House was well stocked with all essentials needs. Absolutely loved our stay. Would love to do again!

Our family enjoyed staying at this property. Great location and plenty of space in house. Very sunny and has good deck. Perfect place to stay due to proximity to Mount Rushmore, crazy horse and rapid city. House is well stocked in kitchen with various tools, works well for those who enjoy cooking. There is one bedroom on top floor and one in basement. Harlan was available to answer our questions.

I give this property a 10 for location alone! Not only is Hill city the most central to all the sites we wanted to see, it’s charming downtown is a block away from the lodge. Right across the street from the steam train & there is a trail that runs right along the back (we didn’t go in it but we saw lots of people enjoying it). I’m so glad we chose this location instead of rapid city. It was also nice to have 2 separate living areas. It would be great for a multi family vacation. Not great for people who don’t like stairs but it’s a split level so it’s not that bad (2 of us have bad knees). The kitchen has every gadget you need and there is even spices/salt, etc. a grocery store is just down the road too. We had relaxing mornings & still had time to drive to crazy horse, badlands, Custer state park, deadwood, Mt. Rushmore…almost made it to devils tower but got lost. (Bring a paper map….there are areas where there is no GPS). It gets a little warm upstairs but the downstairs stays cool. No TV upstairs where the dining room is (we like to watch the news at breakfast) or in the bedrooms but there is wi fi so we could stream. Highly recommended!!!
