Firstly, one of the main reasons I booked this hotel is because it says they have a hot tub. Now to be fair, they do have a spot where a hot tub USED to be. Well attempting to swim in the pool we asked one of the workers who were walking through why the hot tub wasn't opened, they laughed and said... "It ain't worked since COVID". The pool was nasty, there was a ring of skin oil grime around the whole rim. The ceiling tiles were all busted up and missing. We would try to swim two feet and stuff floating around it would cling to us. So we just left. My first room I was put in there was an ENTIRE outlet, box and all, just hanging out of the bathroom wall. The next room they put me, the air conditioning was more of just a fan it did not cool off the room. There was this ominous collection of large gauge wires balled up and spilling out from under the bed. The curtains, their clips were broke so they could not close all the way, I had to use my hair tie to hold it closed. One of the "safety" bars in the shower on one side had been ripped out of the wall, not exactly able to do it's job. If you are looking at the elevators, the one all the way to the right would not go to the 5th floor. I have a picture of the pool area showing both the "use to be a hot tub", super cloudy water, and Uber sketchy ceiling but it will not let me upload it. Very disappointed and upset especially for the amount they are asking for a stay here.

Overall good experience. The hotel restaurant was ok. The only negative is that only 1 elevator is working, and the doors weren't working correctly.

The room was clean, mattress was comfortable. It was a comfortable place to stay.

Rooms are outdated, smell musty, ac/heat is loud. Staff was friendly. No microwaves in room. Paid 200.00 for an overnight, not worth that price.

Pros: Front Desk Staff (Andy?) was super friendly and welcoming.
Cons: Both Toilet paper holders missing. 9th floor windows mostly obstructed by roof structure. Broken lights, fixtures. Towels were worn / scratchy. For some reason they run 2 demolition floor fans in the gym with doors open. This was true for 4 days straight. There was a ton of dust / dirt in the corners of the room. Water pressure extremely low. One of the buttons was missing in the elevator, with just a hole in the panel. General disrepair accross the board in the facility.

Excellent front counter staff.
Water pressure poor. No real hot water - just warm. Front door lock was error prone. Elevators slow.
Hotel needs better maintenance all around.

Beds were comfortable and room was decent. Staff very helpful with early arrival and late check out. Water pressure was horrible in showers and no shampoo or conditioner in bathroom. Pool in need of a refresh!

This hotel is in a great location in downtown South Bend. It was convenient to many things. It is just very run down and dated. We booked it for the pool and hot tub and the hot tub is permanently closed up. The pool room is really dated and not clean. The rooms are equally dated. Perhaps they were clean but it was hard to tell because the tile and shower caulk just need to be redone.

It was fine. We had some concerns about the cleanliness of the restroom, shower, and vent in the shower. There was also an odor in the room, not a clean smell, more of a perfume or room spray like it was covering smells, but it was unpleasant. We were disappointed, when we checked in we were told the breakfast hours, upon arriving to breakfast, there was a cost that we were unaware of. Fine, we skipped it. Unfortunately we tried 2 times to go starbucks but it was closed both days. We didn't plan to leave just let thing lay, but upon checking out we expressed the issues and the woman was unkind and made the suggestion we may have been the cause for some of the concerns. Anyhow we learned we didnt love, we wont be back!

Nice and clean. I liked comfortable beds and cozy bedding .
Tasty cookie at the reception was a nice touch.
Be aware of 15 dollars parking fee.

The room wasn’t that clean. We had to go to the store and buy some cleaning products & spray the room down. The staff were extremely friendly and professional. The hotel is due for an upgrade the furniture is chipped or the color has been rubbed off in some spots. Not horrible but could be much better.

This was our 3rd year staying at the Double Tree for Christmas. Staff was great, hallways and elevators were clear and clean. We didn't have any problems.

Very convenient for our trip. Location was close to our venue, staff was very courteous and helpful. Meal at in house Bakers was delicious.

Ok place. Not one of the best South Bend has to offer though. Charge $15 dollars for breakfast and $15 for parking. Both should be complimentary. Dated place. Room kind of dirty (i.e., hair in shower, dusty, chipped plaster on ceiling, windows spotted). I wanted to see building, but would not stay here again.

Pretty hotel. I travel for work and decided to try this place out. The first time I stayed my room was nice but the bathroom was outdated and unclean. My shower/tub area was full of dust and dirt and there was barely any hot water for my shower. I gave it another chance a couple weeks later and similar results, room looked good but bathroom not so great. Same w/ water pressure. I think this hotel could use some updates in the near future and I may consider coming back because the staff are friendly. Also the restaurant inside never has items on the menu available and I wasn't impressed w/ the food overall.

The location is great. Right in the middle of downtown. Rooms were on the small side, towels feel like sandpaper, no water pressure in shower, a handful of the TV channels would not come in. The room looked clean at first glance, but quite dirty when you take a closer look. The bar and grill inside was overpriced and the service was terrible. The breakfast buffet was also subpar. The pool and the workout room were nice. Overall I would rate this hotel a 5/10.

We have stayed here several times over the years. Always a pleasant stay. My only problem this time was with the frig...didnt get cold until we were ready to leave! The makeup mirror in bath did not work! I also had a really gross, stiff washcloth came falling down when I moved the shower curtain! also poor water pressure and not very warm! We have never had these problems before, was quite surprised! Maybe a better room next time!

Stay was great. Walls were thin. Thank goodness people went to bed at a decent time. Location was very convenient. Short drive to Howard Park and the trails. We had a nice view of St. Joseph River. You did have to pay for covered parking, but it was reasonable. I would stay there again.

Beds were clean and comfortable. Staff was fantastic; shuttle driver stayed over a half hour past his normal shift to accommodate and he was friendly and chatty.
Front desk staff was knowledgeable of the area, and gave good recommendations for nightlife.
Will plan to stay here again, and will recommend to anyone staying in the area. Thanks for a great stay.

I liked the restraunt and the atrium area. Room smelled like a dead mouse. Left messages for manager and they never replied back to me.

Great location, very comfortable room. Our room was on a corner -- beautiful views, but really spotty internet.

Comfortable bed, modern room. Shower stream was weak and water never got hot.

I booked this because of the hot tub and pool.
I even called to verify it was functional.
Unfortunately upon arrival we learned it has been closed when Covid started!
The staff lady in the restaurant that it was appropriate to yell at my wife and throw items!
Last year my wife and kids have stayed at over 75 nice hotels and never had a single issue!
Traveler be careful before booking at this hotel!!!
