The hotel had cool retro features, but it was in need of updates and cleaning. The smell made me nauseous. One elevator was broken with the only other one a great distance away for anyone with impaired mobility.

I expected enough water to take a shower, the tv to get Wi-Fi connection, the lights to stay on and the in-room phone to be able to work to speak with the front desk. My expectations were much too high. The carpet was old and had large folds in the middle of the room. It was obvious that the hotel has not been properly maintained and everything was very dated. Not worth the money!

The hotel was very out dated, construction in various parts of the property.

I loved the theme of the hotel. The breakfast was wxcellent also. The room was clean and comfy. I will be staying again.

Wow, it would be an upgrade to consider this property a dump. It reeks of chlorine from the pool, and there is frayed furniture in the common areas. Our beds had throw sized pillows instead of bed pillows. The furniture is old and worn, and the one chair was half broken. The lights and the outlets by the nightstand were
non-functioning. The bathroom walls were dirty, along with the walls around every light switch, and the carpet desperately needs replacing. The free breakfast was beyond subpar. What a ripoff.

It was a very nice hotel to stay at after a long drive and staff are so friendly.

Looks like a beautiful building on the outside, but everything is pretty dated and seemed run down. Looks like it is in need of a lot of maintenance, probably an overall renovation. Decor and finishes were privably nice in the 80's
To mention the positive first:
- I slept great! The pillows and bed were not perfect, but I slept pretty solidly so that's a plus!
- Bathroom was nicely renovated, room was be clean enough.
-Accomodated an early check in....for a fee. Seemed unnecessary, especially since the room was already available. (I have NEVER been charged for early check ins at other hotels).
- Great location, right in the heart of shopping central, safe area. Just where we would want to be positioned
Onto the constructive...
-Room looked clean, but there was a strong air freshener smell throughout.
-More maintenance is staff needed...by morning, trash cans by the elevators were literally overflowing into the floor, and there was uncollected trash outside of peoples individual rooms.
-Numerous areas of apparent water leaks on the ceilings of the halls.
-Access panels had been removed for repairs at some point and put back with black handprints on them, just contributed to the overall feel of lacking maintenence.
- We didnt use the pool, but checked it out. Perhaps improved ventilation is needed? Smelled overwhelmingly strong of chlorine.
-There was some plastic tarp hanging from the celiling, not sure what was going on with that.
Overall a disappointing stay.

Very clean room. Polite and helpful staff. Decent hotel breakfast.
The problem is that the room had pull down shades. The shades are thick enough, but light leaks on either side of the shade, so the room is still not completely dark. If it were not for this fact, I would give 5/5 stars

Jordan was organized and very helpful at reception. The building is beautiful, breakfast an amazing hot buffet, and the hotel is full of antique furniture. A wonderful mixture of good taste and up to date amenities.

Enthusiastic and fast welcome, exactly what I had reserved, an old-fashioned but quality environment. There may be a lack of soundproofing. Varied and good breakfast. An excellent stay

The room wasn’t ready at 4:30, but the Manager gave us a nice suite

We were SO glad we chose the Chateau. From front desk check in till check out the next day, this is truly one of the most awesome spots to stay. Very clean; floor was quiet; room was large, high ceilings, awesome chandelier in the room; internet/tv was perfect; the bathroom was large and the free breakfast was awesome, home cooked cheesy eggs, sausage, and lots more; PLUS guests were given tables with tablecloths; it was very nice! The prices for rooms were VERY reasonable, I've already shared with friends and if we get back to Bloomington again there is no way we'd stay anywhere else! PLUS the building is breathtaking in decor; the hotel also hosts weddings, events and more...I can see why!!

The Chateau was a fine place for my adult daughter and me to stay for two nights on our eclipse trip. The breakfast buffet was kept well stocked and had good variety. Styrofoam plates and no place to put recyclables — not so good. Also not good: the first room we were given was already occupied. When we finally got a room with key cards that worked, we discovered that there were no bath towels supplied. So, mixed in some respects but overall the Chateau met our needs.

We had a bit of a wait to check in. Front desk staff was apparently away getting laundry!! Hotel pool area was a bit drab but hot tub was good!!

This place was cheap price wise, breakfast doesnt start till 7am, hotel needs renovations! But it seemed clean.

We booked at the last minute a room that said slept four. It had a king bed and a very small futon that could sleep no one. They brought up a cot. The biggest problem is we had no hot, not even warm water!

Castle like hotel. Rooms are small but functional. There was no hair conditioner and 1 wastebasket in the room. No toilet paper holder either. Wall are very thin. We could hear everything. Staff was extremely pleasant.

The pool was too cold and they were draining the hottub in the morning; I wish that could’ve been done the night before so we could have enjoyed it Sunday morning. The staff was helpful, hotel was clean, and the breakfast was decent, with fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, and waffles. Overall, we would stay again, it felt safe and clean.

The hotel is very cute and clean. I will definitely stay again.

A lovely old-style property, but it's a little worn. The bed was okay but a little saggy, the desk chair upholstery was worn. The bathroom, though clean, was dated. One thing that surprised me was how small the room was. It was a decent, clean hotel and the lobby is lovely if you like traditional European style. Staff was great, and everything worked fine.

So much more character than a chain hotel. Loved the sitting area with fireplace. Great breakfast. Enjoyed the hot tub, sauna, and gym while there. Great value!

Very nice old school hotel. I enjoyed it.

A little old and drafty. The pool and spa are nice and it really is a lovely relaxing place to stay. It’s located near a lot of restaurants and shopping. It also has a trail out back that is a nice little nature walk.

So pretty! Wonderful service. The hotel was clean and so lovely. The pool is gorgeous, and the lobby is amazing. Will definitely be coming back.

The bathroom looked like it was still mid renovation. The water pooled in the shower and was not angled correctly to drain. The elevator near our room was out of order. The light in the bathroom around the mirror kept flickering - it didn’t turn on - just flickered. The vent also didn’t work properly so the steam did not vent out when showering just got super foggy.
The breakfast was good.

Resort looked nothing like the website. Outdated, cracked bathroom sink, no safety grab bars in the bathtub. Elevator out of service. Open the door to the pool and you’re greeted by a construction site. Lack of plugs in the room to change electronics. Worn out mattress. Sign outside says newly removed. False advertising.

Very enjoyable.

The hotel has character, but the walls are paper thin. We were in a hallway with a large group and right next to some very loud individuals who were up very late and then up again before 5AM. Sleep suffered significantly even after asking them to quiet down. Management tried to assist, but to no avail. Sound proofing the walls and doors would add to comfort.

We booked our room same day as we were traveling. It was very nice that they could accommodate us and our dog. The only complaint was our room was in a highly trafficked area so it was very noisy. This outside hallway noise made our dog pretty nervous so none of us slept much.
We did enjoy the hot tub and the overall look and feel of the place was neat. It seemed very family friendly and close to many attractions in town.

Just needed a place to stay for the night, heading to Disney! I thought the experience was wonderful! Room was very nice and the bathroom was very cool!!!!

Was a beautiful hotel. Absolutely no complaints. Everything worked and was clean which is rare these days! Breakfast was great too!

The building itself was pretty old but the rooms were nice and newly renovated. Concierge was very friendly and helpful!

Well, I’m from the Bloomington/Normal area and had never stayed there and it had always been a place where I that it would be beautiful and lush…. Maybe at one point it was. There were layers of strangeness here. At check in a peice of decor kept falling off the wall and a lady was trying to get it to stay put. The pull out bed in the delux king room was a beat up click clack with a trundle piece that pulled out to make a supposed queen bed… that would not lock together. The pillows and blankets were rough and uncomfortable… the bed was not comfortable the click clack bed was really uncomfortable… the complementary breakfast was okay for “complementary” the eggs where bland and runny, the biscuits and gravy were not bad. It felt like there were people who lived there and there may have been some “working girls” there … the hallways smelled weird, there were food bags and alcohol bottles outside some of the rooms. They do appear to be trying to remodel. There is definitely an “old creepy haunted vibe” it is loaded with antiques and strange objects, paintings sculptures, mirrors… the walls are thin and you can hear everything… in addition to weird noise coming from who knows where in your room…needless to say we didn’t sleep well and couldn’t wait to check out.

We really enjoyed the look and feel of this hotel. Its one of the best and nicest looking places we have stayed. Its almost like staying in a museum. It was quiet and family friendly. They were pleasant and accomodating. We really enjoyed our stay and very affordable for a family!

Basically my stay was very nice. The Lodge is being refurgished and there are areas that are not always up to snuff. In total my room was very clean, amenaties were fine, larger fridge which is very nice. The snack shop was organized with a much broader assortments od snacks and liquids. Purchased a TV dinner and witnout any prompting, tve desk attendant handed me dispisible flatware. Will stay there again.
