Stayed here for business during a week that required a lot of work. Was hoping that by booking the High Line that I would have a reliable and comfortable place with no worries. This was not the case. The air conditioner was broken for 2 nights and the room on the first floor was very humid - hard to sleep. Our room on the first floor would also not lock one day, a staff member had to watch it while we were out, as it was in a public access area.
Our room was also directly across from a public toilet, people would line up and talk outside of the room in the morning. There is a coffee shop on the first floor that starts work at 6am, a great amenity for the hotel but terrible for someone trying to sleep down the hall. Lots of yelling and banging.
The bathroom had no fan, so it was always humid and steamy. The mirror had a red stain or paint that would leak onto everything in the humidity, including towels and clothes. Bathroom door had the fixtures for hooks but no actual hooks.
Really disappointing for a hotel of this price and supposed rating.

Fun botique feel and very friendly staff, but I couldn’t figure out the TV for the life of me and they never sent help. Also they just plum forgot to give us housekeeping service. Oops!

I always wanted to stay at The High Line hotel and finally did. The location was great but the hotel needs freshening up. I kept smelling cigarette smoke and complained but never figured out the source. I love old buildings and the building is cool but it needs at least a coat of paint.

Do not stay here. They pretend to be a nice hotel but it's really awful. There is no front desk, no bellmen. There are literally zero amenities to this place. The WiFi was trash my 5g was faster, we had broken furniture in our room. The back two legs of the couch were broken so it was tilted back. We booked a suite so there was a sitting area but it was useless. There was a giant stain on the hallway carpet right outside the room. The door lock looked damaged/parted open. The door had to be forced closed. The bed itself was clean thankfully. The bathroom had no makeup mirror and some of the worst lighting I have ever experienced in a hotel room. In the bathroom there were towels, that's it, no wash clothes/hand towels. I had to track some down on my first morning there and it took about an hour. They do have a coffee bar that turns into a regular bar but that's about it. The elevator took forever. Just nothing about this experience was comfortable. We actually left the property early because it was uncomfortable. I tried to discuss my experience with them both in person and online and they don't care. The person I spoke with on the phone was rude and condescending. They have our money but they will never get another cent. Hopefully this review points you elsewhere cause this place is fake nice.

Exceptional staff. The most welcoming atmosphere. I stayed in 3 different 4 star+ hotels during my week in Manhattan and this was the personalized experience I had.

My family and I stayed at this hotel just before Christmas. Rooms were amazing. Quite spacious, especially for the City and a relatively decent value given City hotel prices. Service was fine although when I asked them to replace a broken towel hook in the bathroom, the hotel engineer never showed. Cute little coffee shop and bar in the lobby which is cozy in the morning but a little empty at night. In the summer when it's more comfortable to be outside the bar is probably a hot spot as there is a lot of nice outdoor space. I can see how the larger rooms would be good for dogs as this is a dog-friendly hotel. The decor is very old-world, with nice dark wood trim everywhere. Would definitely recommend!

The room was tired. Shower didn’t drain, dirty tiles and grout. Furniture in the room was covered in stains. Bed sheets were clean at first glance but had some stains when we looked a bit closer but they were clean.

Small rooms, they first put us in a hallway on the ground floor near a public restroom that smelled. For $608 per night? The only thing we liked was the location.

The bed sheets were nice. The shower towels were very nice. We enjoyed the old telephone and the desk with the embosser. The hotel was intriguing and we will stay again. Thank you.

So fun, funky, and friendly. You can have a great walk on the High Line, and then your choice of excellent restaurants all in the same area. Would definitely stay there again.

A beautiful and historic hotel. Service was excellent and attentive. The outdoor patio was lovely and a nice place to sit for coffee or drinks. Great location!

Excellent location. Very convenient to the Highline, and Chelsea and Meat District Markets. Great restaurants and pubs within walking distance as well as very good breakfast options.
We will stay here again. Beds were outstanding.
Staff were very helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. Excellent restaurant recommendations from Christian.
A restaurant or full pub on property would be great. We will get a larger room next time.

The High Line Hotel is in a lovely old building and promotes the hotel as a carefully curated collection of period furniture, rugs, and decor. It is all that but they have allowed everything in the 5 years since I last stayed there to get dingy and shabby. The sheer muslin curtains are shredded in spots. The comforter (no top sheet) had small holes in it. The woodwork and walls were dinged up and slightly dusty/dirty. The bathroom floor was visibly dirty around the edges and under the glass shelves. When we checked in there was one glass in the room, no liner in the ice bucket, and absolutely no sign of the bar pictured in photographs of the rooms. This is not an inexpensive hotel but given our accommodations it should have been. This is what I'd have expected from a small, out-of-the way, budget-friendly older hotel which not what the High Line is meant to be. My final bill for my room with 2 queen beds for 3 nights? $2173.15 and that was for the room only. I'm beyond disappointed and will not return or recommend to others.

This place was amazing and I cannot wait to visit again. The Highline Hotel is so charming. I love how it is decorated and the entire property. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room had such a big beautiful window that overlooked the courtyard. Even though it was super cold outside, our room stayed nice and cozy. Chelsea and the Highline area was such a nice neighborhood. Plenty of restaurants nearby, subway stops and shopping. Close to the Piers, Little Island, The Whitney, the Hudson Yards, Chelsea Market and the Highline!!!! Thanks again to Hotels.com for introducing me to another great hotel.

The High Line was absolutely beautiful! This is an older gem in a quiet, safer neighborhood. Only two things kept this from being a complete rave. They aren’t kidding that you need to let the hot water run for at least 15 mins or you are showering in like warm/cold water. If you wait, the water does eventually heat up - just plan for the wait. The subway is a few blocks away, not a huge deal on the way out in the morning but we usually just Uber-ed back at the end of the day. Other than those two things, we loved our stay at the HL! Amazing coffee, very unique (Escape-room-esque) feel. It was like visiting NYC in its true glory days.
The staff was excellent, helping with navigating the area, bringing ice to the room, helping with the hot water knowledge. The patios were so fun to drink our coffee and eat a croissant before setting off on our whirlwind days. The beds were comfortable and though I had to open the windows to cool off (I run pretty hot-blooded), the neighborhood was quiet and we were very comfortable. My daughter loved the desk so she could finish up some homework. Thank you HL for an magical trip!

The outside of the hotel is pretty. Room was nice enough but small, though it’s NYC, most rooms are small. The requested changes to the bed linens were not done before arrival. The water never really got hot enough for a comfortable shower while we were there, this was attributed to Boiler problems, no preemptive mention of this was made to us before we discussed it with the hotel staff, and no compensations were made despite 3 days of lukewarm water. The hotel does offer free passes to the nearby Chelsea Piers gym which was amazing- they DID have hot water and all sorts of amenities and good shampoo/razors etc in the change rooms. Doesn’t really make up for not having hot water in your room but it felt good to be able to get a proper shower. Lobby bar is nice and bartender was great. Lobby cafe opens too late, there is no in-room coffee-you can ask for a coffee machine for you room but you’d have to provide your own coffee.

The attention to period detail made us feel that we had stepped back in time. Staff were extraordinarily kind and helpful. Location was ideal and we could easily walk to the places we wanted to see.

Great place and location. Stylish and unique. Only two complaints: room had no closet or drawers (needed to leave clothes in luggage) and there are zero amenities except for a very nice courtyard/bar.

I've stayed a few times before and enjoyed it, but this time I got a room right near the lobby on the ground floor. I decided to give it a shot, but after about 45 minutes the noise from the elevator bank and the lobby was too much for me. I asked if I could change rooms and they sent the manager, who was pretty much a jerk and told me he'd be happy to swap rooms as long as I paid for a second room (!!) as I hadn't insisted on a new room right away. Live and learn...I won't be returning--try the Maritime a few blocks down, also a great hotel and I've never been disappointed in the service (or the room.)

Fabulous location in Chelsea. We walked everywhere and felt the hotel was in the perfect spot for us. The Hudson waterfront has undergone an amazing transformation and should absolutely be enjoyed by anyone spending time in this area (obviously don’t skip The High Line)
We did go with a King room (knowing the Queen rooms in old Hotels are super tiny). The room was a very good size and loved that it had a fully usable mini-fridge!!
I know boutique hotels have mostly done away with in-room coffee makers and I find that to always be a huge bummer. But the coffee cart outside opened early and had great coffee.
We had cocktails out front one evening and the Aperol Spritz was perfect for the 90F late afternoon. The shade of the trees was fabulous too.
We look forward to another visit there in the near future!

I had bites on my legs the next morning. We are waiting on the hotel to tell us if the room had bed bugs or not. Very disappointing!!
