Toted as being one of the most remote hotels in SL the hotel did not disappoint. Fabulous location and well run for such a remote site. You certainly got a sense of the rainforest by the time you got there. Our container was comfortable and the bar and dinning rooms spacious. As vegetarians we were a little bored with curry and rice yet again but it was nice not to have to face another buffet dinner as dinner was served to you. My only qualm was that it took an hour 15 mins to cover the final 8.8km in a normal (sedan) car which really isn’t suitable for such a narrow and precipitous drive up. I emailed the hotel through their contact form a few days earlier to see if we cld arrange a Jeep transfer but got no response. Our driver phoned the day before and was told no such facility was available and the drive up wld be fine. It wasn’t and it was stressful. We got out of the car twice as it failed to gain traction on loose stones. And then on arrival found out there was a jeep facility. So my advice or to check this option out when booking. Despite this we enjoyed our stay once we regained our composure!

Everything is nice about the stay except at check-out when I was asked to pay for the rooms I had already paid. Even showing the receipt did not help. They process delayed our departure by another 30 minutes. I checked my bank statement and was indeed charged for the first time when I made the booking. Then I received statement that Ecolodge's bill came. I had to write to both hotels.com and Ecolodge about it. It is inconvenient to say the least.

Amazing experience in this first class eco-lodge. Rooms are in the forest and the view is amazing! The change of scenery is guaranteed and the staff is wonderful! Very interesting walks in the rainforest are organised!

The concept of this Eco-Lodge is great - converted shipping containers set in the rainforest with wildlife immediately outside. It is a real shame though that we don't have much positive things to say...... In general the hotel takes advantage of the fact that you are so isolated - the half board option is almost completely necessary but very over priced and includes no drinks whatsoever - not even water. The treks around the rainforest are ok - but you aren't able to go without a guide and the hotel runs these only twice a day.....they also tried to charge us $10USD per person for a 20 min walk down to the waterfall. The staff are all pleasant enough and it is not really their fault that it is managed more like a school camp than a high end eco-lodge - which the price per room suggests that it is. Other than the walks there is literally nothing to do - they suggest that playing any sort of music in the bar will disturb the animals - I think the animals are as bored as the people staying there because as soon as they did hear some music they were out in force!! The food itself is quite nice and well prepared but there is just no choices.
