We initially had an amazing stay and would have rated it 5 stars, especially because our room was spacious and the buffet was the best we’ve ever had. Unfortunately my husband ate the shrimp and sushi at the hibachi restaurant on 4/11 and it ruined the remainder of our trip. He is still very sick, almost 48hrs later. We did not leave the resort at any point in time and he began not being able to keep anything in about 6hrs after hibachi. In theory we would love to go back, but it depends on how this is handled. Paid almost $2500 for 3N so it was a huge investment ending quite poorly.

We had a great time! The place was nice and comfortable. Some of the restaurants were tough to understand without being star class. Down by the pool they didn’t do a wait list and said you had to just get there early but up top East and the steakhouse would give you a buzzer for when your table was ready. Also some of the buffet food was not the best. The pool was nice though and some of the bar tenders were great! Our favorite were in the hotel lobby.

Service was good in the main building but other than that not the greatest. Breakfast was good but other than that the food was average at best. The pool bars lacked premium liquor.

The staff is not friendly and seems unwilling to provide service, Front desk staff is so bad and mean. Even though when I check out time, call the cart but waited long time so I had to drag my luggage and walk to the lobby.
They only ask for additional service, even though it is an All inclusive resort. The room smells so bad that is difficult to sleep well. The food in the regular restaurant is poor. Fortunately the buffet restaurant was the best, so I visit three time a day. I don't think it's an appropriate resort fo relaxation.

I traveled here in January of 2024 with my two sons ages 20 and 23. It was an all around wonderful experience. We were swept out of our private airport transfer, our bags were taken from us, we were given drinks, directed to the red carpet for a photo and all of the staff clapped for us. What a beautiful welcome. The property is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Check in was very easy. It seems that all of the suites are ocean facing? I did not realize ours would be and it was, so that was a really nice surprise. I highly recommend building 18 second floor for your stay. It is close walking distance to Both the pool/beach and the main building with an excellent view of the ocean and the pool. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. My sons were constantly entertained at the pool during the day by the staff and the activities and in the evening with the activities. We were not Star class and that was fine for us. We were able to find shady spots at the pool each day and there were plenty of shady spots to sit on the beach also. Maid service was top notch. I'd say this is a mid level all inclusive resort but an upper mid level all inclusive.

Very good location, safe, and solid dining options. Beach is amazing.

The resort was wonderful ! My personal agent for the stay was jorley she was extremely helpful with all our needs from booking reservations for dinner to transportation back to the airport ! 10/10

The property was beautiful and very safe. The rooms are beautiful. Since the property is quite large there are golf carts that take you to different areas within the resort (lobby, hotel room, restaurants, and pools). We never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. We opted for the Star Class option. Well worth it for the sole fact that this included 24 hour room service and free items from the minibar (snacks, water, soft drinks, juice, wine, champagne) which was restocked daily. Except for the cabanas, this is an all inclusive resort. We rented a cabana and it was well worth it. The cabana included a sectional sofa, TV, your choice of alcohol, water, two lounge chairs. PRIVATE POOL, and server that brought whatever drinks and food we requested. The resort has a kids pool with slides, a rain fall, among other kid friendly things. My daughter really enjoyed the kids pool. My only complaint about this resort was check in. We arrived to the resort early morning. I knew that we would have to wait for our room. We waited almost 8 hours before we received our room. We noticed that other people that we on our same fight, received their rooms about 3 hours before we did. We received our hotel bracelets upon our arrival and they had to be reactivated we when finally received our room. I think that the check in personal forgot that we were waiting for our room, I expected at least an apology.

The property is gorgeous; the staff are friendly and welcoming, the drinks are strong, the food is average. Main cons: tiny kids pool and play area and kids club is more like a day care rather than actual kids club with sports and outdoor activities.

The food was not that great. It was not tasty or spicy.
The pool area is not as well developed as some of the other resorts.
No tennis or pickleball courts.
Otherwise facilities and service were excellent

Our reception was very nice and our butler was amazing. He gave us a wonderful tour of the grounds and was attentive to our needs. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view. The drinks and food were mediocre. Hot meals often arrived cold. Service staff was not organized or super friendly. You’ll need to know some basic Spanish or be good at charades. Skip the hydro spa. We were confused with what was going on or what the point was with dumping a cold bucket of water (ice bucket challenge?)on your head and pelting you with water spray equivalent a pins and needles pressure wash. We did get a call from the resort mgr and an email from the general mgr who appreciated our feedback. All and all our stay wasn’t terrible but it was not the 5 star experience we were expecting.

It was a great Resort, the hills will give you a bit of exercise. The reason for the low rating is that I upgraded to Star Class and spent a significant amount on my trip, but it wasn't really worth it. I would recommend the hotel, but pick the lower class stay. All of the restaurants (except the buffet) require a reservation and you may still wait an hour for food.
I never saw the VIP lounge because we were told they were busy, so we waited at the front desk to check in. Then we stood in a long line waiting for a cart to take our bags and us to the room. The handler for Star class did find us in the line and take us to the room, but not much after that. There is a Star class pool but its nothing special and not worth the additional funds.
In previous experiences in Mexico, Domican, etc, the upgrade was well worth it. I just didn't see the value here.

If you are going to sit and drink all day this is your place. But you are in the middle of nowhere so if you like to go out and see places your looking at at least a 40 min drive to the nearest town and the hotel will charge you $75 for that. The dinners were excellent but there is only one choice for lunch unless you want to hike back up the hill to the buffet for lunch. And even though you pay for all inclusive you find out when you get there that you have to upgrade to star class at $100 per person per day to make reservations for dinner, more breakfast and lunch options and well to be treated decent by staff. We ended up leaving early and checking in to a different hotel in Tamarindo.

The property is nice. However getting around on the property is challenging. Yes, golf cart services are provided but are not always convenient depending on how many people are staying at the resort. The dinning options were okay. The daily and nightly activities were entertaining enough. Honestly the very best thing about this property is the STAFF. EVERYONE WAS EXTREMELY WELCOMING. RANDALL the afternoon manager was AWESOME & really went ABOVE & BEYOND with assisting my family. He deserves an award for his attention to detail & his level of INTEGRITY!!

Absolutely 10/10 staff and crew members. I was a STAR class member and was constantly being given the best treatment. They are extremely attentive and resolve all of your needs. The hibachi experience was fun as well. Overall, the resort was very unique with its mountainous views and luxurious style structureZ

My partner and I had an overall pleasant experience at Planet Hollywood. The staff was nice and willing to help when needed. I highly recommend booking a room with ocean view as it was breathtaking.
We had opted for star class due to its various perks such as being able to use the private pool and getting a complimentary one hour hydrotherapy. However, the personal agent assigned to us was underwhelming and didn’t provide us with the same treatment that we saw other guests had. He lacked communication and didn’t forward the activities or spa information we had requested on the first night. The only benefit we got from him was being able to reserve the restaurants for the nights we stayed, but even this was very limited.
Nonetheless, we received the best dining experience at the Italian restaurant, Gusto. Jefrey and the rest of the crew was very welcoming and provided us with excellent service. The filet mignon dish recommended was so delicious that it satisfied us from wanting to try the steakhouse.
As for the spa, we found it best to book for our desired treatments in person rather than with the personal agent. Jirlianny and Janice were super friendly and informative of all the different services and promotions going on. They even went above and beyond to surprise us for our anniversary with a special gift.
We are very thankful to all the staff that allowed us to feel like a star and addressed our concerns. Would definitely come back and hopefully with a better experience.

From the moment I arrived I was attended to. Anything I needed, any question I had was quickly addressed. The resort is very nice and I highly recommend booking this place.

The pool is very small and ordinary , also there is almost no beach side to walk o swim. When it rains, the entire housing walk way and shuttle car waiting area are soaked including tale and chairs, even the car seats are all wet.
Every where you want to go need to wait....and wait.....I dont know who will like to wait so long and so often during the short vacation with families

I love the beach location with the trees and monkeys would come down. Food was ok nothing special. Most people would hate the up-hill walk from the pool/beach to the lobby/rooms but our family didn't mind it. They do have golf carts to get you if you want to wait!

The resort was nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend this place.

Our stay at planet Hollywood was great. From Martyn, the worker who helped us with all of our excursions and activity planning. Shawn, the DJ who tried his best to ensure everyone had a great time partying. And Valerie, the best bartender, very attentive and knowledgeable. The staff was was super helpful and accommodating during our entire stay. Definitely worth the money

Staff went above and beyond to make our stay special.

From the warm greeting upon arrival (star club treatment) to the beautiful amenities, our stay was perfect. My friend group planned this trip based on our previous experience in Costa Rica. We did our research and found that Planet Hollywood was the best selection. Upon arrival we were greeted with drinks. Randall made it his business to come over to us and extend the invitation to the star lounge. We expressed that we were hungry after a long morning of travel. We were there before our checkin time so he personally escorted us to the buffet so that we could eat, drink and wait for our room access. Accommodations were beautiful, clean and spacious. The mini bar was mediocre and we couldn’t order drinks from room service, the only downside. Pools were lovely, food was about a 7.5/10, activities were plentiful and all of the staff were very accommodating throughout our stay. Shuttles ran regularly, we did use them to get around; lots of hills. I am looking forward to my next family vacation and will probably consider Planet Hollywood in another country for a family getaway.

Planet Hollywood of a kind property. It is beyond amazing. It is absolutely beautiful, pristine, the property could not be any better!!
The staff is authentic and loving, and will do anything they can to help you with a smile upon their face…
I really wish I had written everyone’s name down… But I would like to mention Ulysses, Kelis, Jose, the sweet, freckle face lady in fuel,
Nesbit? Bartender… the staff at the pool, the security guards on the beach were so nice, the shuttle drivers were always smiling and accommodating. And we must mention the DJ at the pool he knows how to rock it!!! he was so much fun and we had such a blast. I recommend everybody and anybody to stay at this property. You will be so happy and you will feel so safe and peaceful. I cannot or should I say we cannot wait to run back Costa Rica in Planet Hollywood is the bomb.com.

Stayed for five nights in late September/ October.
Overall staff were great, they tried hard to take care of your needs. Fernanda, personal agent and
Maria at the Prime bar are notably exceptional staff. We had sighted creepy caterpillars inside the room the first morning, Fernanda worked hard and moved us to another room in the upper level.
Kudos to her. But getting plain bottled water in the room was an absolute nightmare. We were getting run around from house keeping to room service to bar service every day. There is no coordination among the staff or managers in those departments. There was no decaffeinated coffee or black tea in the room. Some days snacks weren’t kept in the room. Really got tired of asking for little stuff every single day. If you’re happy with the outdoors, dining rooms and pools, you will like this property.
Beach is black because of the Vulcanic sand, did not like that very much

This hotel was really beautiful & the rooms weee nice and spacious. ALL of the staff was so polite & friendly. The food in the buffet, Guy’s burger joint, & the Italian restaurant was ok. But the food in the steakhouse & the Mexican food restaurant was very good. I’d definitely stay here again.

The Oceanview suite was beautiful and spacious. We enjoyed the karaoke in the sports bar, the drinks in the sports bar were great as well. We also enjoyed the beach, pool, spa, and the gym. Its was a wonderful couple's trip. Also, the Mega Combo Buena Vista excursion is totally worth money. We had blast on that excursion.

Christian and Kimberly were great. Everything was great and when we needed something we were able to receive it in a timely manner.

fully maintained, the cleaning staff were nice and accomodating. The food was average, nothing was real exceptional though., even at the 4 restuarants. Drinks were very watered down. The price for the transportation was double the price of a local transportation. had a nice time, but when it came to checkout, were told we had purchased a bottle of champagne for $400.00, which we hadn't. After an investigation, it was determined that it was a forged signature with our room number on it. We plan on going back to Costa Rica in the future, but not to the Planet Hollywood.

All the staff was very friendly and offered help. Henry did an amazing job assisting with reservations and transfers. Buffet food was actually the best option as it provided lots of options and excellent quality. The only thing lacking was the entertainment… the show’s failed to pull audience in and had some awkward breaks in between. I really wish we could see more Latin dances. Other then that great place to stay surrounded by nature ( cute monkeys on the beach too)
