Had a lovely couple of days. Room ok, bit on the small side but adequate for 2 days. Had Sunday lunch which was ok, think we were a bit late so maybe not as fresh as earlier in the day. Breakfast very good. Everyone who works there very friendly and good service.

Friendly & helpful staff. Excellent air conditioning! Good breakfasts.
Found the bed in room 6 a bit too hard. Had problems with TV.

Lovely comfortable rooms with huge bathrooms, coffee machines and Sky TV. Nice very big pub so rooms had some noise from garden as you'd expect. We choose to eat there and were disappointed in the roasts - service slow and potatoes very hard.

Great location. Nice restaurant and pub.

We chose this hotel for a mini break away and it was every bit as beautiful as it looked in the pictures.
We stayed in room 10 which was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable, and it was nice and peaceful for a great night's sleep.
The breakfast we had the following morning was next to the log fire and absolutely gorgeous.
I cannot wait to return to the hotel for another break away from home.

Comfy room, nice shower, spacious room, really friendly staff, brekkie was good.
Coffee was a bit bitter in the restaurant and there were flies in the bathroom, I suspect that had come through the window but there were enough to be notable.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The room was small for two people as a double room.
The pre guest room check was poor.
The toilet seat was not fitted and had missing fixings. I repaired this fault myself.
Shower door handle was broken and kept coming off the door, reported to staff.
Cupboard door knobs were either missing or kept coming off in my hand., reported.
Door key had to be reprogrammed everyday to gain access to the room.
TV had intermittent fault which made viewing difficult.
Overall not in my opinion good value but staff did try their best to make the stay a pleasant one.
Happy to stay in the hotel again but not in that room.

Lovely Vintage Hotel, although because of *Covid* it was pretty empty. Stayed 6 nights over Christmas, the room keys kept de-activating, so wouldn't unlock our door. Had to go to reception at least 6 times to get keys re-activated, annoying when you come home late at night & cant get into your room !! Also needed the key to gain access into the reception area, so had to wait outside in the cold until we could get someones attention, but this was dealt with promptly & efficiently each time. The manager was friendly, chatty & approachable. The cleaning of the room was done every day to a good standard. We booked Christmas dinner at the hotel. When we went to be seated, we were offered a small round table for 2, that had been set for 3, & were told we could bring the other small round table over for more space !! I refused, as everyone else was sat on big tables with plenty of space, so we were then seated on a larger table. I felt as if we were an afterthought that had to be squeezed in, although id booked months before !! I ordered the fillet steak, I wasn't asked how id like it cooked, it was a bit overdone, Also, it was supposed to include all the trimmings ( as stated on the menu ) but it didn't. I had to ask for Brussels, & had no Yorkshire, carrots, roast parsnip or a pig in blanket. But, what I did have was tasty. For what we paid, I just felt that we should have got what was promised on the menu. Overall, the stay was comfortable, & staff were friendly.

Very comfortable the room was a bit cold when we arrived but a kind member of staff increased this so it improved. On the whole a lovely stay xx

We had a brilliant stay at the Hand and Spear. The decor was really quirky but fun and we loved it. Room was well equipped and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and efficient - and the Sunday roast was probably the best I've ever had !!

It is a nice venue, good location. Quite noisy in evenings as we were there over weekend given pub below but that was expected.

The soup and dessert were great for the restaurant, the problem was I also stayed at the hotel room upstairs and kept being the only room with power cut each night cos of the fuse box, had to flick the fuse box ourselves to get electricity back on, and then the next evening could not even enter the room due to keys being reprogrammed. Just do the restaurant, don't do the hotel.

Had a fabulous 2 night stay, room really nice with mini bar for drinks and nibbles. I ate in the pub part both nights and food was excellent, will definitely stay again when down in that part of the world.

Great bar, staff & restaurant, a really attractive place. Nice food (although I do despise being served food on a plank of wood. I can just about cope with a burger & fries on one but a steak!? No no no). Breakfast was lovely.
Room was very comfortable with a well stocked mini fridge & free tea & coffee.
Overall a really enjoyable weekend, would recommend especially if you like a busy vibrant atmosphere.

What a fantastic stay. The staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome.
The room was fantastic, clean and like home from home.
Drinks were pricey but nothing unusual for the area.
We would definitely come again.

Reception on arrival and room very good however the food was very disappointing. Table service not good as had to keep asking about food/drinks and then keep reminding staff to clear plates. Had the food been good then I could forgive the poor service as they were "short staffed" but given the very poor food overall I have to say this was a very disappointing experience.

Staff are very friendly but there were some issues with the room.Someone had stolen the sink plug o ring so water would not stay in the sink for shaving. Not noticed before our arrival or fixed during our 3 day stay.Shower door allows water to leak onto the floor

Lovely rooms and beautiful bathrooms. Only hitch was my room was directly above the pub, on a Friday night! A bit noisy. Luckily the pub was closed by midnight. I did mention it to the front desk so they take it into account for the future and they were very receptive.

I couldn’t believe how many things there were for us to use. There was everything in the bathroom included little fold up toothbrushes if you had forgotten yours. There was a bottle of water and a small bottle of port free if you wanted it. There was also a notice saying if there was anything you had forgotten ie phone chargers hair straighteners etc you could ask at reception to borrow. We were going to an evening reception and so thought we would have a meal before we left, it was really nice and the service was excellent there was nothing about our visit we could criticise

Handy to railway station and Brooklands Museum.Shower tray flooded, meals were not great and lugging suitcases up 2 flights of stairs not easy.Unable to watch TV in smoking area.No TV in hotel only in rooms.
