Finn’s Retreat is close to Oscoda & Tawas which we enjoyed. However access to the lake across the street was not marked and it appeared to be someone else’s property. We did enjoy the public beach in Oscoda. The place needs a deep cleaning, it appeared to be just briefly cleaned. No trash bags in unit and all 3 trash bins by the road were full. Beds are not very comfortable. We paid a cleaning fee but were required to wash dishes and strip beds ourselves? We made the best of it.

This property needs a good cleaning. The front of the bathroom fan was covered in debri. There was no trash bag or paper towel. The bathroom smelled musty. The beds were uncomfortable. A window was open when we arrived. There were 3 trash cans out by the road and all were full. There was nothing marked across the street to show the access to the lake which the ad advertised access to the beach. We were disappointed. We made the best of it. People in the other property seemed confused too.

For the most part we enjoyed our stay. The area was nice to visit again and the overnight rate was fair. However, several things made it an okay spot to stay as opposed to a great one. Firstly, the pictures of the yard and location are quite deceiving. The yard was unkept and there literally was not an access to Lake Huron. If there was, no information was provided about an easement or access unless guests are expected to trespass. The cabin was poorly organized. Random items left in the entrance/sunroom(empty tote, mop, vacuum, broken off baseboard) and the place was inadequately stocked. One partially used roll of toilet paper and one partially used roll of paper towel was all that was provided. No condiments, salt/pepper, ziploc or aluminum foil. Expect to bring a lot of the basic items needed if you plan to cook, grill or stay for a length of time.

Pros: it is decorated cute; it was clean; maintenance guy was responsive to where beach access was located, but couldn’t answer our questions and could not get ahold of the owner; located evenly between Oscoda and Tawas.
Cons: this is NOT on a beach or “across the street” from an easily accessible beach—owner stated there are “rights” to a beach across the street, but to go to it you have to walk up a private driveway and through two cabins’ backyard, literally, we got some odd looks as to what we were doing there. The cute hammock is comfy, but the view is of a decrepit, condemned (with code sticker) house 15 feet away, the electrical system was questionable, as in you turn on a light in the bathroom and the fan shuts off, turn off a/c and another light turns on in a different room), there is not a/c and heat, it is a heat pump—not meant to heat a home in Michigan winters—there is no paper towel, no extra kitchen towels/no wash clothes/toilet paper, the a/c unit rattled and quit working at 4am. While it was cute, it was obviously updated/built quickly and many shortcuts were taken. This was NOT worth money for two nights.

This cabin is so adorable, I absolutely loved it. Lake Huron is right across the street. Shopping and restaurants are really close. Great experience! 5 Stars!!!!

Cute and updated. Just not insulated.
Thankfully we brought a small heater.
The cabin has a heater but not sufficient to heat the cabin.
We only spent 1 of our 2 night stay.
