About this house rental

Situated on a 10-acre hill overlooking the lowlands of Stockbridge and the north side of Monument Mountain lies this rambling 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom Revolutionary-era home. Built in 1780 as a Stagecoach Stop for travelers along the post route between Hartford and Albany, this gracious manor-like home now boasts a beautiful dwelling for cooking, reading, and taking in nature, as well as providing rooms for billiards, movies and games and a sauna! In the kitchen, look out the row of leaded glass windows past the green lawn to view the forest surrounding the property. The eat-in kitchen boasts a 4-foot Subzero refrigerator, a fireclay farmhouse sink by Shaw's England, and a heavy cast iron and brass French restaurant-quality Morice stove, on par with La Cornue. There's plenty of room for food prep on the long white carrara marble countertops and for eating at the 250-year-old wooden trestle table. In winter, radiant floors keep feet toasty beneath the white oak herringbone floors. For entertainment, play a game of pool, watch TV or play games in the den, pick a classic novel or beautiful coffee table book to read in the library. Or take a sauna in the greenhouse! There's a cozy en-suite bedroom downstairs with queen bed, perfect for those who cannot climb stairs. Upstairs is the master suite with king bed and marble bathroom with double vanity and shower. The guest room upstairs is spacious, with a queen bed, large chest of drawers and bookshelf. The hallway bathroom has a pedestal vanity and marble shower. In the back half of the upstairs lies the laundry room, kids' room with two twin beds plus a loft, and a small bathroom with cast iron bathtub, right next to the secret back stairs that lead to the billiard room. Outside, the home is surrounded by 10 acres of lawn and woods, cut through by a running stream. Interstate 90 runs behind the woods to the north of the house. This is a beautiful area to take walks or a bike ride to the Berkshire Botanical Garden or Naumkeag - and just minutes by car to downtown Stockbridge, Stockbridge Bowl, Norman Rockwell Museum, Tanglewood, and downtown Lenox.

Had a wonderful stay at this old farm! At the end of a secluded, wooded road, this quintessential New England farm house was loaded with charm. If you're looking for something modern, this is not for you. If you're looking for an original, authentic farmhouse you'll love this place. We're New Englanders so this old farm was right up our alley. All the creature comforts. No TV. Great communication and friendly owners.

The location of this family friendly home was perfect for exploring all of the little towns the Berkshires has to offer. The kitchen was fabulous and well appointed. We loved hanging out in the living room and playing pool in the billiards room. There were so many spots outside for the family to hang out. The 2 year old in our group especially enjoyed the swing and trampoline.
