About this house rental

Located in Cayuga Lake, this attractive house for $1,252 per night is a great choice for your next trip. A Zen, Mid-Century Retreat On 6 Acres Whether it’s wine, waterfalls, or unwinding that brings you to the Finger Lakes, Shangri-Lodge will help you have a trip to remember. We remodeled this 6-bedroom, 4-bath mid-century style home in 2013 and 2014, living in the house while we worked. We loved it so much, we were reluctant to move when we finished. But we wanted to share this special place with guests even more! Shangri-Lodge sits on 6 pastoral acres less than 10 minutes by car from downtown Ithaca, quaint Trumansburg, and the Cayuga and Seneca Wine Trails. Summer evenings are wonderful at Shangri-Lodge, with a fire crackling in the fire pit and the kids chasing lightning bugs under a big, star-filled sky. The year-round outdoor hot tub for 7 near the burbling creek provides another wonderful spot to relax. LIVING & DINING - An open floor-plan, many windows and skylights overlooking the property, and a great room under beamed ceilings make Shangri-Lodge feel expansive, but we arrange the furnishings into conversation areas to keep it intimate. Grab a plush blanket from the cabinet and settle in on the sofas and chairs in front of the wood burning fireplace and smart tv. Next to the dining room, a second conversation area features four chairs gathered around a plush ottoman, so you can put your feet up together and plan your adventures. The dining table, illuminated by statement lighting, seats 12 before a lovely view of the grounds. Our dream kitchen lives at Shangri-Lodge. Bring your favorite recipe (or try one of ours) and let the kitchen be your canvas: it has a 48" 4-burner gas stove with griddle, a professional double fridge/freezer, quartz countertops, and cabinets fully stocked for chefs with all utensils and small appliances. A huge custom island takes center stage in the kitchen. With its five barstools, it’s the place to gather for morning coffee and, in the evening, uncorking your haul from the wineries. (Don’t worry, the whisper-quiet Bosch SilencePlus dishwasher won’t interrupt your after-dinner conversation.) On the lower level you will find our family room, with a smart 65" flat-screen TV, sofa and chairs, pool table and a door that leads directly to the hot tub. In wintertime, simply walk out the door and take three steps into the steamy water. A stack of fresh towels waits for you in the cabinet. BEDROOMS & BATH - Shangri-Lodge sleeps 13 people, all in ultra-comfortable beds. Five of the six bedrooms are on the ground floor, with two king beds and one queen bed on one side of the house and two queens on the other - a great setup for privacy. One of the queen bedrooms has an en-suite bath with a remodeled walk-in shower. Three more ground-floor bedrooms are situated around a shared bath with a tub/shower combo. A third bath is located near the kitchen, across from the full-size laundry area that guests are welcome to use. Upstairs, find the large, lofted sixth bedroom, with a queen bed and a separate twin. The convenience of an en-suite bathroom completes this suite. Wood-paneled walls and skylights to create a cozy, cabin feel in this space. There’s even a writing desk in case you get inspired. Or check your email; the whole house has Wifi hubs. OUTDOOR AREA - Shangri-Lodge sits on 6 acres of former farmland. On the house side, you'll find the creek and the fire pit with 12 Adirondack chairs and lots of room for kiddos to play on. Across the road is our sister property Indulgence, which also has six bedrooms and sits on 8+ acres including a creek-fed pond. If what you seek is an easy, quiet escape from the city, you'll find it here. THE LOCATION - Don't let its rural setting fool you: Shangri-Lodge sits in an ideal spot, less than 15 minutes from nearly every can't-miss attraction in the Ithaca area, and just five minutes from downtown Ithaca itself. Head into downtown for a foodie's dream date at one of Ithaca's many farm-to-table restaurants on Restaurant Row. Or take your group out for brunch at a low-key local's diner. Downtown Trumansburg, a quaint creekside village with restaurants, pubs, a bowling alley, farmer’s market, pizzeria, grocery and liquor stores and local shops, is just a 10-minute drive from the Lodge. Start with espresso drinks at Gimme Coffee, then try the eclectic breakfasts (like kimchi pancakes) at Creekside Cafe. If wine brings you to the Finger Lakes, you're in luck. There are over 50 nearby wineries to taste test your way through, all of them easily accessible. Cayuga Wine Trail, the oldest wine trail in the country, is a 10-minute drive from Shangri-Lodge, and the Seneca Lake and Keuka Wine Trails are a short drive away, too. At Buttermilk Falls, Taughannock Falls, Robert Treman and Watkins Glen State Parks (all within a half hour or less) hiking trails, rushing waterfalls and scenic gorges await. Don’t leave without visiting Cayuga Lake, the longest of the Finger Lakes. Paddle out from the public pier on a kayak, cool down on the swimming beach or hop aboard a wine-tasting boat to sample some of the region’s best wines while enjoying its most stunning views. Great flow, easy living, light, spaciousness, the outdoors, all of these factors make Shangri-Lodge an amazing house for people to come together and enjoy each other's company. PLEASE NOTE: Not suitable for weddings, receptions, parties or gatherings which include outside guests. Property is for the use and enjoyment of registered guests only, unless prior approval from owners is given.

The house was perfect for our family! The floor plan was great and it accommodated our large family. We loved being with each other. The children loved walking along the creek, and it was a short distance from Cornell University. We enjoyed being there very much! I highly recommend staying here. I know our family will be returning!

The pictures of this house looked amazing, but it was even better in person! There were 6 of us - girlfriends for many, many years and it was wonderful for each of us to have our own room. There was plenty of space in the well-stocked kitchen. Loved the huge island! The dining room was comfy and the room off the dining room was a great conversation area. We enjoyed the firepit and the gardens were so pretty! Would definitely recommend this gorgeous home. Also, Mitch showed us the property across the street that he had just finished redoing - SO PRETTY!!!!!!

Our entire immediate family was in town to attend a niece’s wedding. The house was great and fully accommodated all of our children and grandchildren, with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The grounds surrounding the property were beautiful. The fire pit was great for a campfire in the evening and the lawn was great for a family kickball game. A very enjoyable place to stay!
