A Promising Holiday Rental, Unfortunately Lacking Soul and Means
This property has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it is not ready for holiday rental yet, and the property management struggles to keep up with their duties. I will address this more in the 'negative' section, but let's start with the positive first. The location of the property is gold. It's 7 minutes from Yeppoon main beach and lagoon, and 7 minutes from Fabroourgh beach. If you have dogs, the property and the area are very dog-friendly. The terrace is great for them, and there are two kennels you can use if you have big dogs. The top floor, where the living room/kitchen area + master bedroom is, has a very good holiday vibe with plenty of light. It's great if you are a group too, as the dining table is huge. We did not use the ground floor, however, it is equipped with its own bathroom, kitchen, and a great man cave, all with direct access to the swimming pool. Once again, it will accommodate a group of 2-3 couples, giving a lot of privacy. There is also a shed at the back with its own facilities. The swimming pool is nice, fully fenced, of course, with a great view of the surroundings and the well-maintained garden. All in all, we had a great time once we finally felt more at home.
The property lacked both 'the soul' and 'the means' when listed on the holiday rental market. Despite fair compensation, this detailed review serves as a constructive reminder for the owner and property manager. New guests are encouraged to share positive experiences and notice improvements. Assurances have been given for necessary corrections in the next guest's experience, and we urge others to be advocates for positive change. - Communication with the property manager was not only complicated but also unprofessional. They attributed listing errors on booking.com, and attempts to change prices and cancellation conditions were made before finally adhering to the advertised terms. Written communication was challenging, with incomplete emails and information unrelated to the property. - The property was shockingly filthy, a term fitting for the experience. Only the bed and bathroom received attention; the sofa, floor, and fridge were disgustingly dirty—wiping them would yield a blackened cloth. A bloodied band-aid on a sofa pillow added to the horror. Cleaners neglected their duties, refused to return, and despite being charged $400 for cleaning fees, we spent half a day cleaning ourselves. While reimbursed, the disappointment and wasted time were painfully real.It seems the property manager tried to cut corners on cleaning to cover their pricing mistake, ultimately caught by their own 'greediness'. - Swimming pool maintenance was neglected before our arrival. Instructions on using a pool-cleaning robot and turning off lights at night for fewer insects would help for the daily maintenance during the stay. - Essential property info, like the wifi password and activity guidelines, was missing. The property's unique features lacked exploration guidance, causing disappointment. - It seems two people live on the property (not seen), with another person regularly seen feeding horses.
