About this condo rental

House of W is a C16th palazzino forming part of the former private residence of Grandmaster Alof de Wignacourt when still Captain of Valletta. Converted in 2022 following meticulous renovation, House of W now offers 5 exquisite apartments, each unique and finished to the highest standards of comfort. The original character and features of the building have been restored to blend with a mix of antique and vintage pieces, art and luxurious furnishings, offering an eclectic yet elegant ensemble. Across from the central courtyard is Cortile, this duplex suite [60 sqm] is situated on the ground and first floor of the building. The double height ceiling has been restored to expose the carved semi-circular arches and stone slab ceiling detailing, and the original Maltese encaustic tile flooring has been retained and restored. Authentic vintage furniture and fittings enhance the sense of space. The décor here is moody and eclectic. Downstairs, the double bedroom adjoins a marble en-suite bathroom with underfloor heating, and a walk-in shower. The upper level consists of a suspended bridge which serves as a lounge area, and an adjoining kitchenette with original terrazzo flooring and a closed balcony overlooking the internal courtyard. Other amenities include: - King Size Bed [165x200] with Italian memory-foam mattress - Luxury Egyptian Cotton towels and Bed Linen - Luxury Bathroom amenities - Small separate kitchen with combi-oven, electric hob and small fridge freezer. - Nespresso Machine with recyclable pods - High-speed (1000Mbps) WIFI. - 32 inch smart TV with access to Netflix, Prime, and over 10,000 free to air channels. - A library of on demand movies and free live sports are also available (your Netflix or prime account is required to access these features). Location: - Situated in a quiet, yet central location, with views of the Church dome and rooftops. - Within minutes’ walk of museums, cafes & shops, and theatre, as well as from the main bus terminus and sea ferries. - Just metres from the Mediterranean Conference Centre. - Offers free on-street parking. Valletta is named after its founder, the respected Grand Master of the Order of St. John, Jean Parisot de la Valette. The magnificent fortress city grew on the arid rock of Mount Sceberras peninsula, which rises steeply from two deep harbours, Marsamxett and Grand Harbour. Started in 1566, Valletta with its impressive bastions, forts and cathedral, was completed in the astonishingly short time of 15 years.Valletta has many titles, all recalling its rich historical past. It is the “modern” city built by the Knights of St John; a masterpiece of the Baroque; a European Art City and a World Heritage City. Today, it is one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world. The city is busy by day, yet retains a timeless atmosphere. The grid of narrow streets boasts some of Europe’s finest art works, churches and palaces. Hosting a vast cultural programme, walking around Valletta you’ll come across an intriguing historical site around every corner: votive statues, niches, fountains and coats of arms high up on parapets. Narrow side streets are full of tiny quaint shops and cafés and restaurants. Valletta is the smallest European capital. measuring just 1300meters by 900 meters at its widest point. The narrow streets make parking difficult and we do not recommend that you hire a car especially since most parking spaces are reserved exclusively for residents of the city. If you plan to spend most of your time here you will find that it is easy to walk around. For those wishing to be true further afield then Uber and Bolt are just a click away - Guests are welcomed personally for check-in. - Early/late check-in and check-out may be available upon request. - Depending on availability, the entire building can be booked by one group. - All suites are served by elevator as well as by the main staircase, however duplex suites have internal stairs to access the upper level. - Due to the historic nature of the property one may experience low ceilings or uneven stairs, in some public areas of the building. These features were retained in order to protect the original integrity of the building, and whilst every safety precaution has been taken, we do not recommend this building as being suitable for children.
