About this villa rental
The villa has been individually architect designed to maximise on the panoramic sea views and all windows overlook the sea. The 180 degree views are exceptional and all our guests say that the photos cannot do it justice. The property is set in a very quiet and peaceful location within olive groves and at 200 meters above sea level. (Tourist Reg. No. 1040K10003062201). The house is at the end of a 1 km unmade road. The 40 sq.m. infinity pool is heated to a comfortable temperature between May and October by air source heat pump. There are steps down into the pool and the pool and pool terrace can be gated for child safety. The house was designed for outside living with several areas of sun terrace on different levels providing both sun and shade for perfect chill-out. There are 2 separate outside eating areas including a built in barbecue. Downstairs is open-plan with a large, modern kitchen, dining and seating areas. The house is well equipped with all conveniences and is used as a home for part of the year. The house is eco-friendly with solar panels and a grey water system. It is well suited to families of all ages, including toddlers, small children and teenagers, as well as groups of adults. There is a mountain path directly into Elounda, but it is only for experienced walkers. The usual route is by car in 10 minutes. Elounda is a very attractive and popular small seaside town which caters well for all ages. There are luxury hotels with world famous spas, sea-front restaurants and local village tavernas. Water sports are available from hotels and beaches between Elounda and Plaka and you can find diving, water skiing and pleasure boats. Elounda has a safe and sandy beach and there are many other attractive beaches nearby.

Spacious and well-equipped home. Outdoor setting is gorgeous, a lovely pool for escaping the heat and lots of spaces for entertaining and family fun. Not really walkable but dining down at the port area restaurants is consistently wonderful. Master bed needs a refresh.

We stayed at the villa in September 2023 and it was truly amazing. The view is beyond description and one we will not forget, it is extremely private and just what we wanted. Mary the owner was a delight to deal with and all the information was fantastic. Jan & Mark the couple who clean and maintain the property were first rate, changing towels and bedding regularly and cleaning when we were out. The villa is a find but a car is mandatory and the road to the villa is typically Greek only tarmac in small parts. I would add that if a member of your group has mobility issues this is probably not the best option. The infinity pool had probably the best view of any I have had without exception. The villa has been built to a very high standard with air conditioning in the bedrooms which was a blessing.allowing us all to get a full nights sleep. Our flight arrived late so we elected to fly a day early and stay in Heraklion overnight the day prior to the rental. This was a smart move as I would not have wished to negotiate these unmade Greek roads in the small hours. If private luxury is your idea is your idea of bliss, then look no further. I would add that if this villa was attached to one of the many swanky 5 star hotels in Elounda, the weekly rate we paid would be per night. All in all, a true find but the road to the villa would be an issue for some nervous drivers new to Greek roads. Highly recommended.

This is the best villa I have stayed in - ever! Remarkable views from every room. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is an extensive library as well as a fabulous range of DVDs to cater for all ages. The infinity pool is stunning and was very warm. The managers of the property really can't do enough for you and the owner is marvellous at providing local information and helping out with every query. Wonderful property.

The villa has the most wonderful view across Elounda Bay which can be enjoyed from the different seating areas and the lovely infinity pool. A peaceful and perfect location. A car is needed to visit the nearby town of Elounda as well as a competent driver for the track to the villa.

Einzigartige Lage für beste Erholung
Die Lage der Villa ist einfach perfekt oberhalb von Elounda mit einer grandiosen Aussicht auf das Meer. Die Anfahrt erfolgt teilweise über nicht befestigte Wege, das jedoch mit nötiger Vorsicht und einem nicht zu großen Fahrzeug gut machbar.
Die Villa selbst ist nicht neu, überzeugt jedoch mit einer sehr guten Ausstattung. Alles Erforderliche ist vorhanden. Die Zwischenreingungen werden durch Mark und Jan nach vorheriger Terminabstimmung sehr gut erledigt.
Alle Einrichtungen sind wie beschrieben und auf dem Fotos abgebildet. Wir haben den Pool, die überdachte Grillstelle und die Ruhe sehr genossen.
Vielen Dank an Marry für die gute Kommunikation per e-Mail. Wir können die Villa uneigeschränkt empfehlen.

Amazing !!!
Villa Aveio is definitely one of the best!!
Very comfortable and with everything needed for a perfect self catering holiday. Very well equipped, clean and private.
The road to the villa is a little dramatic, but it is fine if taken slowly.
The views ate amazing, and it is extremely quiet...apart from the cicadas!!

Mooi huis met alle voorzieningen en fantastisch uitzicht. Enig minpuntje : douches lopen niet goed af. Misschien ook iets meer aandacht voor de netheid.

Ein tolles Haus, eine tolle Lage und damit eine perfekte Grundlage für einen schönen Urlaub. Das Haus hat alle Ausstattungen, die man braucht, ist toll gelegen und der Pool ist einsame Spitze. Ingesamt eine klare Empfehlung.

Tout le confort et les équipements nécessaires sont présents pour un séjour agréable et de qualité.
Seul bémol : l’accès par une route chaotique assez périlleuse. Un 4x4 est fortement recommandé!

Exceptional villa
This is a very special property which we would recommend highly. Spacious and tranquil, with incredible views. The owners and team have thought of everything to ensure guests have a perfect holiday. Enjoyed visiting Elounda, Plaka, and Ag Nic which all have different characters and some excellent restaurants.

Amazing villa with stunning views
An amazing secluded villa with spectacular views down to Elounda and Spinalonga. We spent two weeks at this villa and it was hard to tear ourselves away when the time came to leave. You have to travel down an unmade road to get there but it’s more than worth it when you arrive. The villa itself is very well equipped. We loved the outside areas for sitting and eating and the infinity pool was perfect to cool off. We would definitely recommend this villa and hope to return ourselves one day.

Living the dream...
We've stayed in many holiday properties over the last fifteen years or so, in several different locations - and I think I can honestly say that the location and views from this property are the best of them all. Waking on our first morning at the house and throwing open the doors to be greeted by an uninterrupted view down to Elounda, across the bay, and north to Spinalonga, was unforgettable.
The house itself is extremely generously provisioned and equipped and was completely accommodating of our family of five with three older boys. The outdoor spaces are also very generous and offer fantastic views while eating outside. The owners have been easy to communicate with and they were very helpful to us in assisting our late arrival.
I would recommend this property without hesitation.

Perfect Holiday - stunning villa and locatiion
We had the most amazing holiday in Villa Avrio. The owner was fantastic with communications and the Villa exceeded our expectations. The views were sensational and the pool and villa were kept immaculately clean by Tony and Mandy who looked after us really well during our stay. The villa is very well equipped and designed, and makes for a 5 star holiday experience, in a peaceful and secluded location but near all the local amenities. Elounda is such a lovely little town with everything you need and stunning local beaches and lots of excursions. Highly recommended!

Everything about the villa was excellent and exactly as detailed in the listing. It was clean, with the added bonus of cleaning and change of linen halfway through the holiday. We had a lovely time sampling the local tavernas and exploring the area. The directions and information provided were accurate and very useful. I would recommend the villa to others, but would say that you do need a car - the walk up and down the hillside to Elounda is for the energetic!

Modern villa with fantastic panorama view
The villa looked great on all photos and we were certainly not disappointed when we arrived to see it in person. A well built contemporary house with all amenities you could possibly require for a one week stay. Extra plus for the air conditioning in all three bedrooms, the pool area, and the mid-week cleaning of the house that was taken care of by Mandy. Also all communication with Mary prior to arriving was great. Only flipside is that there is quite a bumpy gravel road that you have to drive for the final kilometer to arrive to the house and that you need a car to get to the village, which is located 5km away. However, I would warmly recommend the house to anyone and I would be happy to stay there again.

We fell in love with the villa from the moment we climbed down the steps from the car parking area. We never tired of the view which constantly changes. The location is also peaceful - all you can hear is birdsong & sheep! The villa itself is well equipped & comfortable containing all you need for a successful holiday. The kitchen & barbecue area make catering easy. If you wish to eat out there are many good restaurants in Elounda itself, 10 minute drive by car or a 25 minute walk in daylight. The pool area is a bonus and the family played & swam in it in April! If you are planning a holiday in Crete, Elounda and Villa Avrio make the perfect base for a wonderful holiday.

The impression on arrival here is simply breathtaking. I have never stayed anywhere which such phenomenal views which you can never become bored of. The accommodation is very well laid out - open plan living downstairs and three well sized upstairs bedrooms. All rooms offer splendid views from the windows. During our stay we have enjoyed temperatures of 20-24 degrees every day, allowing us to enjoy the varied outdoor patio areas to the limit. It is lovely to sit on one table for breakfast and lunch and then be able to move to the BBQ area late afternoons for evening BBQs and sunsets. Our two boys (3 and 5) have thoroughly enjoyed using the inflatables in the pool, buckets and spades and Jenga blocks. The pool (although unheated) has been amazing to swim and play in. You are set in the mountains and have a feeling of being away from everyone else. The track to get here is certainly rugged but we have enjoyed exploring the mountain paths through the old village and down to Elounda itself. I can thoroughly recommend reading The Island by Victoria Hislop during your stay which is based on Spinalonga island. We have loved every minute of our stay. Thank you.

Brilliant Villa!
Just enjoyed a sunny week in this wonderful villa.
High quality, well appointed and flexible accommodation, stunning views, lovely pool and BBQ area, well equipped for a family or groups of friends.
The quality of the air and light at this location overlooking Elounda is magical. The sunrises over the sea are beautiful and the surrounding hills, green and full of wild flowers.
Great local tavernas, serve really traditional Greek food and there are plenty of sights to see within 15 to 30 minutes drive. The Kritsa Gorge and Spinalonga Island are easily accessible, the sea is crystal clear and at night it is so quiet, with just the occasional owl in the distance.
Comfortable beds and furniture - both inside and outdoors, good showers and plenty of hot water make this a pleasant and relaxing place to stay.
Local markets provide an opportunity for very inexpensive fresh food and souveniers.
Recommended A1 for a relaxing and happy holiday!

Luxury relaxing Easter
Had the most wonderful and relaxing long weekend at Villa Avrio over Easter. Beautiful sunshine and walks to the sandy beach on the nature reserve. We barbecued on the sheltered terrace and enjoyed watching the full moon rise over the bay of mirabella.
The villa is incredibly well- stocked with juicers, blenders, decent hair dryers etc. The king sized doubles are very spacious and you can get quick wifi throughout the house and on all of the terraces - great for those who need to access work emails whilst abroad.
The house has the most stunning views and is set within a huge plot without any other houses or roads to disturb the peace and quiet. To get to the tranquil spot you do need to head down a 1km track but it is well worth the slight bumps in the road as you come over the peak of the hill to see the unspoilt Crete countryside. Although the villa is remote it is only 10 minutes into Elounda where you'll find a range of shops, restaurants and bars. There is a market on Friday morning and 2 supermarkets as well as butchers, an amazing bakers and a range of fruit and veg shops.
We didn't quite make it into the infinity pool but are hoping to come back one summer when the water will be warmer!

Stunning Villa and Views
We had a fantastic stay in this villa is which is located down in a very beautiful and secluded spot. In order to get there you have to venture down an unmade track, however, once you get there you will be greeted by what can only be described as the best views in Crete. The villa itself is luxury and incredibly well equipped with each bedroom benefitting from it's own private views over the sea. The infinity pool was where we spent most of our time, having heavily applied the suncream. The terraces provide a number of separate private areas for barbecuing, relaxing on sun loungers or playing games. We would highly recommend dinner at the hope taverna in mavrikiano (30 min rocky walk or 10 min drive), hiring a boat to spinalonger and using the villa telescope to watch the evening stars.
