Located in North Eleuthera, this attractive house for $573 per night is a great choice for your next break. Once you enter this log home you will be welcomed with the airiness of the twenty-eight foot ceiling and the tropical art work throughout. The open concept living room, dining room and newly remodeled kitchen will allow you to visit and enjoy your vacation with all of your family members. New coastal furnishings decorate the living room. Enjoy watching the flat screen tv using your Netflix account or satellite. Listen to music via the bluetooth speaker. The two bedrooms are extremely large and come with ensuite bathrooms. The master suite has a king size bed, while the second suite has two queen beds. For those who need extra sleeping room the open loft is equipped with a king & twin bed. A third washroom/laundry room (washing machine) is available on the main floor. Beautiful linens, bath towels, and beach towels have been carefully chosen to make your stay comfortable. Orchid Cottage, next door, is a bright and lovely Bahamian style cottage. The open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen areas allow for your entire group to interact during cooking, eating, & family activities. The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need to prepare your meals and it also offers the convenience of a washing machine. The cathedral ceiling gives the cottage an airy feeling and a central wooden staircase leads to a loft area. The cottage has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the second bedroom with a king bed that can be converted into two twin beds. Between the two bedrooms is a three piece bathroom. The large walk-in shower is decorated with sea pebbles, sea glass, and shells embedded in the floor. Both the main house, Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage have AC throughout. Both the house and cottage have ceiling fans throughout. Other amenities include WIFI, satellite TV, Netflix, smart TV, as well as games and books. You'll pass your time at Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage lounging on the wrap around deck, cooking on the grill, reading a book on the hammock, or just relaxing in the deck chairs. The two outdoor showers make showering after a day at the beach convenient and adventurous. A short walk down our path takes you to a breathtaking, deserted Atlantic Ocean beach where you can beach comb, snorkel, suntan, or get lucky enough to swim with dolphins. A ten-minute walk along the beach or cottage road will take you to Sky Beach Club and Pascal's Restaurant where you can enjoy a cocktail at the swim-up bar or dine while taking in the view of the Atlantic Ocean. The infinity pool and hot tub are open to the public. Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage are located on a quaint cottage road, with easy access to the Queen's Highway through a private gated road. Enjoy a catered meal and Bahamian cocktails at Shangri-La. The caterers will shop for local seafood and produce, prepare the meal, and provide clean up. This is a truly Bahamian experience that all of our guests enjoy! Come stay at Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage and enjoy the beauty of Eleuthera! Rates are on a sliding scale based on the number of guests. We set the rates this way to make the property more affordable for smaller groups who use less utilities and put less wear and tear on the house. If you enter the correct number of guests, the reservation system will calculate the rates correctly.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time at Shangri-La & Orchid Cottage. We were a group of ten people and the houses fit everyone just fine. They were stocked with all the appliances, sunscreens, bug sprays, beach accessories, and many, many more things that we needed. LaChadra was the best caretaker! We contacted her a few times when the internet went down and when we had car problems. She took care of everything quickly and with such a positive and pleasant attitude. The beach was a short walk over a hill and we mostly had it all to ourselves. We saw many other beaches and even saw turtles, dolphins, rays, and a barracuda. What a wonderful trip!

Reviewer Comments: Our group of 9 stayed at Shangra-La and Orchid cottages over the Thanksgiving holiday and absolutely enjoyed our stay. We rented 3 cars from Chad, who is also the property manager. She was at the airport when we arrived with the warmest welcome. We cannot speak highly enough of Chad; her attention to detail, quick response to anything we asked and her welcoming disposition. The houses are located in the central part of the island which made it an easy drive to either southern or northern points. Both houses have a clothes washer which was huge since we were there for 10 days. They are decorated beautifully and have everything you would need or want. The climb down/up from the beach is very steep, so most of us used the beach in front of Pascal's with stairs. We walked down the dirt road to Pascal's to see Sammy the bartender many of the days .... maybe too many! We didn't do the Friday fish fry in town, but we do highly recommend Buccaneers for breakfast, Eleuthera Island Farm for bread/olives/everything amazing, Tippy's for music and LaBougaivillea for all day decadent eating lounging by their upscale pool. A day trip to Spanish Wells is a must. Buddah's for lunch and The Shipyard for dinner is a must. Harbor Island was too busy for us. We would recommend staying at either Shangra-La or Orchid cottages as you will not be disappointed!

The process to rent and pay for the property was extremely easy. We rented both houses, the only compliant was the path between the houses need more light. Before the trip, we received check in information and in the welcome letter. there was helpful information regarding the island. We rented 2 cars from Cadet car rental which made it easier since they are the people who manage the property. Our flight was delayed by 5 hours, but it did not matter. Once we were on the island, they were there to greet us at the house. Gave us a brief tour and they were on their way. The house was very lovely, the kitchen stocked all the necessities (glasses, pots and pans, plates). The wi-FI was very good. The house surprisingly stayed cool all day. The a/c got very cool at night, but it was relaxing after long days in the sun. The washing machine came in handy after our visits to the beach. The beach by the property is gorgeous, however, it was a little to rough the entire time. The kids enjoyed making sand castles. The best thing to do once you get there is go to the grocery store. We compared the 2 stores in town (burrows and eleuthera supply) and by far Burrows was cheaper. We went to the fish fry on friday night. The food was delicious, however, if you want a good choice of food, you need to go early. We went around 730 -8 and it was not much meat choices left. Also it rained, so the night was cut short. We went to Ronnie's a couple of nights, played pool. The remainder of the trip we just went sightseeing. My overall experience with Shangri-la was A+.

Loved the stay at the Shangri-La. It truly felt like a home a way from home. The yard is well manicured, and the ocean is just a small walk away. I do wish the upstairs loft had a/c. But that is the only down side. The owners work with you on payment arrangements, and the property manger takes very good care of the guest. We will be coming back. ❤️❤️

We recently returned from a wonderful week on Eleuthera. Shangri La was the perfect environment for our family of five and a welcome change to our fast paced everyday life outside of Philadelphia. We loved knowing exactly what the property had to offer from the multiple pictures shared on the owners facebook page. My girls shared the downstairs bedroom and my son loved sleeping in the loft over looking the living room. We enjoyed lazy morning in the meadow, coffee on the deck, long walks on the pink sugar sands of Banana Beach which is a ONE MINUTE WALK from the house, afternoon walks on Banks Road to visit Sammy at Sky Beach Club, exploring the island in our rental car provided by care takers Barry and Chad (who we love) and peaceful sleeps in the most comfortable beds. If you are looking for a tropical island getaway, free of typical daily distractions, look no further. Some may be turned off by the absence of some modern conveniences, like a clothes dryer, but you will soon find how much enjoyment you can achieve by hanging your clothes on the line outside. Clothes really do smell the best when dried naturally! Our time at Shangri La was the perfect departure from our normal busy routine. To our surprise, our flight leaving Eleuthera was cancelled and we needed to stay on the island for two extra days. Barry and Chad were so helpful in allowing us to keep a vehicle and made sure we had everything we needed until we could depart. Julianna and Tara were equally as helpful. We never felt uncertain of where to go or who to call. Eleuthera is like home to us. Once you visit, you will want to return year ( if not month) after year.

Enjoyed a wonderful family vacation in both Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage with my immediately family of 6 (mom, dad and 4 children) and 3 grandparents. Description of the property is accurate, though the photos do not do the grounds justice. For most of our vacation all we heard were the ocean waves in the distance, the chirping of birds, and the wind rustling the coconut palms. Plenty of space for our children to safely roam and play. Short walk to the beach (Atlantic - waves were a bit rough for safe swimming and snorkeling while we were there, but it was beautiful none-the-less) and a bit longer to a wonderful pool at Sky Beach Club. Bedrooms were generous and comfortable as were the common areas. Property managers were gracious and accommodating. Gov Harbor is a great location to base yourself on the island. Would recommend: Stunning beaches at old Club Med and Lighthouse (must have 4WD for the latter - it is a 2 hr drive but absolutely worth the journey); Friday fish fry at Gov Harbor; daytrip to Harbor Island; swimming with the fishies at Ocean Hole in Rock Sound; day of hangin' by the pool at Sky Beach Club; and just plain relaxing with a good book in hand.
